retin a micro- I use it to unclog pores. It has been a month and it has been great. If you can push through the side effects it is well worth it. Horrible initial breakout (for 3 weeks) then things calmed down. Itching, extremely dry skin and redness. Moisturize day and night if you can.

I noticed there is allot of negative comments on the Retin-A. I think most people are so strucken by the initial breakout they decide to stop the treatment as a whole and resort onto something else. I agree that Retin-A does give a pretty bad initial breakout it makes you look worser then before. This is my second time on Retin-A. My first time I was given 0.025. I used it twice a day (My first mistake or maybe my doctors mistake). It burned and peeled so much I stopped. About 2 years later which is now I was given Retin-A 0.01% Gel and Benzoyl Peroxide 5%, these 2 products together seems to work great imo. Im 2 weeks into my treatment, I noticed the initial breakout is pretty harsh. Im hoping it is done because I am noticing some great results with one side of my face.

I have been using retin-a micro for two weeks now. I do agree with the redness and the peeling, but my derm. said that would happen. After all the medicine has to peel the old away to spring up the new. Within the first week, my acne did get worse. However, im on my second week and one side of my face is pretty much clear, I just wish it would work for the other side and forehead as well as my chin. This is my second time on retin-a, however I hope I can stick with it for the full three months and hopefully have good results!

I had mainly comedonal acne with a few papules / pustules (constantly)which I would describe as mild-moderate. Iwas prescribed Retin-A 0.01% and used it for 6 weeks. I was expecting an initial breakout but it exacerbated my acne to such an extent that my dermatologist has told me to stop using it. The effect has made me severly depressed (circumstantial depression obviously)This is not to say it won't work for some poeple, but for me, the initial breakout never ended and didn't look like it would. If you have mild - moderate acne I'd really think twice before using it.

Does work but you have to wait and endure the peeling! To minimise irratation use the 3-2-1 method (use every third night for a week then every other night, then every night) I have suffered acne since I was 12, this has cleared my skin up but my skin is rather delicate now.

A year ago, I did a 16-week treatment of Isotretinoin (Accutane) - it worked to stop oil production (VERY oily skin)which helped to get rid of my pimples completely. The worst side effect I can remember aside from dryness in general was the fact that I could peel my lips off layer by layer, it was disgusting, and it hurt, but they chapped so much I couldn't just leave them. So, after I'd finished the accutane regimen, my dermatologist put me on Retin-A, for nightly use before bed.

My doctor prescribed Retin-a for me after using differin for about 3 months and seeing no improvement. Well...i think i saw more improvement from differin than Retin-a. nothing. If you have moderate acne where when you look at your face it just looks red...don't get this stuff! This stuff is supposed to make it worse to be pulling the puss out so you can wash it away, it pulls it half way, and then stops. Its supposed to make it look worse for a little while then magically dissapear..DOESN'T HAPPEN. it just starts to look worse, and stay that way! im now on doxycycline and tazorac, hopefully those will do me some good. we're in this together...
