my dermatologist prescibred tretinoin to me 4 months ago. During the first 2 to 3 weeks I had a few breakouts but eventually they would subside. Durign the second month though I had a severe breakout which took a while before it eventually went away. Now I've used it for the complete four months and my skin has drastically improved. My forehead used to be really bumpy and now it's completely smooth. Some of the scars from the previous breakouts are still there but slowly going away.

I have a tube of this left over (0.01%) from before I started Accutane last year. The Accutane cleared my skin up perfectly, but I started to break out a little again a few months ago. I've decided to give this Retin-A a go before it gets any worse. I've been using it properly for around 5 days, my skin's quite red and flaking around the areas infected with the acne, but it's starting to look allot nicer. I had some near my right eye which would not shift for weeks; Retin-A has pretty much got rid of it in a few days. I'm going to keep going as I am, using moisturising cream during the day, and as of tomorrow take a photo of my face each day so I can keep track on how it's looking.

My only real problem is the redness of my face, I look a little sun burnt, but it's to be expected.

It's free on prescription over here.

i have a combination of moderate and mild scarring on each cheek.

i was given a sample of Retin-A a few weeks ago to being using and returned to get a full tube last week. i have .05 which seems to be perfect for me. it has made my face really red and without moisturizer it's very, very dry and flakey.

that aside, after about 2 weeks, it seems as though my skin is smoothing out a bit. by no means has any scar gone away, but it has had some sort of positive effect on my complexion that has made me feel better about the scars. am going to keep using it for a bit and see where it goes.

My doctor prescribed tretinoin cream for me alongside dioxycline when he noticed my acne. he prescribed 0.025(or is it 0.0025?) and i finished the tube(i think about 45g)and pills. then did nothing for about a month before going back to him for some more (i forgot i could go refil it @ the phamarcists)
i started to get rashes but i found out it was a result of the Olay mosturizer i used so i stoped using that and got Ponds dry skin mosturizer (even though i have oily skin). when i went back to my doctor, he prescribed 0.1 strength because i told him the 0.025 had barely any effect.
i use it everynight even though it's peeling my skin (not excessively though). and hurts a little (i just applied it!)
i've been using it for about a week and a half and yet to notice any positive result but i'm liking it. i think it's going to work. it doesn't cause as much irritation as when i started so i guess my face's getting used to it.
i don't have that sensitive skin. i'm dark skinned (black)and i'm 15. My acne's not that much much. just moderate sort of.
i hope it doesn't cause hyperpignentation because i'm already black as i am.

and i hate washing my face @ night for some reason (laziness i guess.) so i procastinate (skip) sometimes maybe once a week or two. i also hate taking pills for some reason so i take the doxycline once a day instead of twice.

i'll check back later maybe next week or so.

ps. does anyone have any opinion on what mosturizer's best for oily skin?

I've been using Retin A Micro (0.04%) for about 6 weeks now and the results are off and on. The first couple of days, my skin started clearing up really well, but during about the 2nd or 3rd week, my face got really dry. I don't think my doc prescribed the right kind of medicine cuz after reading some of what everyone else put, saying that they mostly have oily skin...well my skin is really sensitive and dries easily so maybe I will talk to her about that...Anyways. In the past couple days I've started to break out again, and it's getting worse than usual. I think I'm starting what's usually called the 'initial breakout' and I'm kinda scared x.X. And it sucks cuz nobody I know understands how I feel, except for the people on this site I suppose. But I guess I better keep using the Retin A, and hope for the best. This is the second perscription medication I've been on. I was also on Benzaclin and that sH!t sucks. Didn't work at all. But I'll try to be patient with the RAM. And for those of you who wear makeup, I recommend Neutrogena Skin-clearing make-up. It's a little expensive, maybe like $9-10 but it's working okay for me. Just don't use too much and if you use powder afterwards, dust it on with a brush so it doesn't block your pores. Anyways. That is my experience so far with RAM and I'm waiting anxiously to see how my skin will be a few weeks from now!
Hoping for the best...
Kelley
P.S. Don't spot treat w/RAM if you have fair/dry skin. It will just dry out your skin more. Use pea-sized amounts on your FACE ONLY! As for neck/chest/back/shoulders...I'm not sure how well it works but it fades the redness for me. I just don't have enough to use it in all areas, and would rather clear up my face and wear t-shirts for the rest of my life than clear up my chest and back and have an ugly face....
One more thing. RAM is doing well to fade some of the marks I had from past acne, but though I've heard that it minimizes pores, this is just not happening for me....Thanx!
Laterz.
Kelley

This product is alright. It made all the red spots disappear, but I still have my scars. It does make your face look all dry and "peely", but I just put on Cetaphil moisturizer on during the day. You just have to wait about a motnh to actually see results. This makes your face get worse before it gets better, but I didn't mind that much.

I have been using Retin A Micro for 6 months now. I apply it at night and had some peeling at first but that got better after a couple of weeks. At first I saw a mild improvement with my skin, I had fewer breakouts but I was oilier than I had been in my life. After 4 months my breakouts came back so I went back to my dermatologist and she put me on the pill to help with the oiliness. I am now at the 6 month mark and have really dry skin and acne worse than it's ever been. I have just started using Neyskin moisturizer in the mornings (I hadn't been using moisturizer as the derm had said I didn't need it) but I'm still flaky. My acne is cystic and on my chin and jaw.

This stuff is awesome if you just give it a chance. I was pretty skeptical at first but am always willing to try something new. I have very fair skin and it was totally irritating at first, but after using it for a few months my skin got used to it. I used to get large and painful pimples on the back of my neck and shoulders and those have totally cleared up, not to mention almost all of the whiteheads and blackheads that used to show up on my face. It is pretty expensive, but I'll only live once and I'd rather live it painful pimple free than to save $70 or whatever it costs.

I got this for my mild acne and it has done wonders after three weeks. I wear Retin a Micro at night and Duac Topical in the morning. The Duac seems very harsh so I have only been ussing it every other day.

For the first two weeks I had more than the normal amount of breakouts. My face was red and a little painful. It was very dry, flaky, and even burned when I would apply Cetaphil moisturizer. Now, after three weeks, my skin seems to have peeled off the dead layer and is now showing a healthy, acne-free, and somewhat dry layer. I make sure to moisturize at least twice a day and the dryness goes away. My skin no longer gets red or sensitive to the touch.

The first few weeks were a little uncomfortable but that was expected. Now, I am very happy with my skin. If you can stick with it for a few weeks, I think you will like the result.

I used this product for 6 months (300 euro). It made my acne, my face and oilness extremly worse. I stoped using it.
I 'am know using vitamin b5 cap for 2 10 days, this is much beter, It shrinks acne and pores, normalise oilness, I think after 3 weeks iam get cleard. Try b5 it is expensive but works for most oily skin acne.
