I've just gotten through the initial acne flare. Without a doubt, my skin was worse than it's been in a long time. But now, the pimples are going away, and my skin is really soft and clear. I still have a little peeling and some redness, but that has improved over the last week, as well. Additionally, some clogged pores that I've had for months have finally disappeared. The initial breakout is really awful, but if you stick with it, you'll be glad. Incidentally, my skin is very sensitive, so I use Retin-A Micro every other day. For those of you with a lot of peeling and redness, I think every other day is the way to go.

Had severe acne on my nose for years, difficult to get rid of. When i used this it had a dramatic effect over a 3 month time period. The skin was dry and irriating.I then stopped using it as my skin was cleared. My skin stayed fine up to recently however it is back to its old ways. So looked for a new prescription. Its difficult to start using it again as itchyness and redness are hard to go through all over again!

Ummm...what an interesting product. I started out with MILD adult acne and this stuff gave me cysts, which I had never had in my life. The doc predicted that they would be gone by 6 weeks of using it. I kept the faith and sure enough, 6 weeks pass and I'm back to--thank God, I love it, mild acne. Ha ha ha. Took another three weeks to achieve mostly clear skin. All would have been fine and dandy, five stars for Retin-A, if it weren't for the scars that the initial-breakout cysts left...hmmm, lasers now?

My dermatologist precribed me topical Tretinoin but, I heard horror stories about this stuff so I didn't want to try it and he also put me on oral antibiotic Doxycycline which didn't seem to be working but itself after two months so, I decided to go ahead and try the tretinion along with the oral meds.
I was putting the tretinion on every night and it made my skin red, painful and irritated so, I gave up and stopped using it. Then I was advised to use it every 3-4 days for a couple of week so my skin would get used to it.
At first my skin was horrible, huge pimples all over the place, more than I ever had in my life!!! It was traumatizing. I wanted to give up and stop using it again but I was researching online and found out that it was normal to have such a bad breakout and to bear with it because the outcome would be great later. So I just forced myself to handle it even if I was unsocialble, depressed and just plain miserable.
After a couple of weeks I started using it every other day and two months later my face is clear, I get one or two pimples (and there small zits) before my period but that's it!!! My face feels so smooth and soft. I got a lot of dark spots from all the pimples I had from the intial phase of treatment but day by day it's disappering like magic.
I have never had the peeling side effect probably because I use an exfoliating scrub (St. Eves Apricot Scrub) day and night (seems harsh but it works and does not irritate my skin at all--I guess it removes all the dead peeling skin before I see it) and during the day I use two moisturizers- Neutroginga Healty Skin Face Lotion with Alpha Hydroxy Sensative Skin and Eucerin Extra Protective Moisture Lotion Sensative Skin SPF 30. I use two only because I have sensative skin and I could not find the Neutrogena moisturizer with SPF and Alpha Hydroxy for Sensative Skin so I just found another moisturizer for sensative skin with SPF to go with it and they both don't clog my pores. I've heard that the Alpha Hydroxy and Sun screen helps decrease the peeling and for me it diminished it all together.
Overall I think that tretinoin works wonderfully. All you need to do it be patient and consistent. I've tried everything for years to have a clear complextion and something actually worked for me. You do suffer for a few weeks with a face full of zits but, if you wait for it, it will happen, a face that you'll be happy to see in front of the mirror:)

I've used a number of products to treat my oily skin. Bought Acnesol skin cleanser in Jamaica whilst on holiday. Within 3 days, the pimples started to disappear and my face not so oily. The only down fall is if you use too much, it might leave your face too dry. So, I suggest you take a break from regular use once the problem is solved and only apply perhaps twice a week. Believe me the product works... I love acnesol!

The dermatoligist prescribed me retin-a and minocyclin, also told me i could continue with clindamycin topical and azaelic acid, well its been 8 weeks now and the only thing i've seen is my acne get worse, PLUS my face is oily and peely (awkward.) I rarely used to get zits until i went to college, I'm getting so frustrated!!

Put it on just before bed, make sure you only use a finger tip size blob for your whole face, don't over do the amount. Only put it on your acne patches or spots, dont put it on your Good skin.
