| Pros | Leaves skin soft More even skintone Less bumps Clears fast |
|---|---|
| Cons | Takes a long time Makes acne better, then worse IB EXTREMELY SENSITIVE TO SUN |
| Bottom line | I have been on Retin A Micro .04% for about 5-6 weeks now. At first, I saw nothing but positive results, but now, things are getting a little worse (not as bad as when I started). I'm guessing this is just the initial break out, or the IB. I will say, the blemishes are small, but of course I'm going to notice them. Since reading all of these posts I'm just going to keep on going with the Retin A even though I feel like my skin is playing tricks on me while on it. So, if you're like me and are skeptical about this stuff, just wait it out. As for you sun worshipers (I'm guilty) WEAR SPF 30+! I can't stress it enough. I was at the pool one day and I had on SPF 15 thinking I'd be okay. That night I was VERY sun burned...to the point where I was nauseous and light headed...turned out, I had a horrible case of sun poisioning. My face had blistered and was completely raw for about a week. My skin had a layer of dead skin cells over it because of the burns. It was so painful. So please, listen to this...even if you tan easily (I do too I'm part Native American) wear sunscreen! Good luck, and remember, stick with it! :) |

| Pros | -Cleared my stubborn, bad, hormonal acne! |
|---|---|
| Cons | -Initial breakout -Have to get it from a doctor -Peeling/dryness -Have to wear SPF on face daily (but you should do that anyway if you want your skin to look good in the long run) |
| Bottom line | Don't let the idea of the initial breakout scare you. Yes, I had one between 2 weeks up until about 10 weeks, but it wasn't THAT much worse than my acne was prior to the medicine. Around 10 weeks I turned a corner and BAM! Other than red marks, which will fade with time, my skin is looking smooth and lovely. Highly recommended, but only if you have the patience to tough it out through the IB. |

| Pros | Gets rid of current pimples quickly Cheap with insurance Use at night Purges skin (also sort of a con) |
|---|---|
| Cons | INITIAL BREAKOUT Dryness Redness |
| Bottom line | ATTENTION: Read this, it really may help. For those of you who are thinking of starting or who have started and are not seeing any results after a decent amount of time: Before you start retin a, start eating healthy because the skin will be purging itself and if you are not eating healthy, you will definitely have a bad break out because it is removing those toxins through acne on your face. Think about it, if you don't have toxins in your body creating new blemishes under the surface, there won't be as much to purge out of your skin. Continue to eat healthy throughout this and then reintroduce your favorite snacks slowly back into your diet to see what causes break outs for you. Yes, it's hard to do but I have been on retin a for almost two months, eating all sorts of fast food and junk food and getting nothing but a constant break out and it has been awful. Then i decided to try to start eating healthy and here I am, on the 4th day of eating healthy and I've already noticed a big improvement. It is actually getting better now!! No more new pimples every morning, I just have a lot of hyperpigmentation. There are those people whose diets don't affect their skin apparently or this either works for them regardless of diet, but don't chance it, new beginners! Just cut out your chips, pops, ice creams and the such and you should experience great results sooner. This will take care of your acne topically, and your healthy diet will greatly help reduce the acne waiting to pop out. I hope this helps you all, I will do another review when I have seen greater results, but it seems that eating healthy has been the only thing that has helped so far. |

| Pros | dries out zits fast reduces fine lines shrinks pores prevents new zits |
|---|---|
| Cons | initial breakout waxing ripped off skin |
| Bottom line | im a 19 year old female who has been struggling with acne since i was 13 years old. so far, very good from usuing this product. a couple of days before i started using this i started using aldactone ( an oral supplement for hormonal acne in women) and that initial breakout was as bad as my tretinoin ib. the night after i applied the trentinoin all my zits started to emurge which i popped on the second day cause they were gross! the third day after using it they all dried out and no new zits were forming, which is what im used to happening. right now im only on my 4th day of the tretinoin and 6th on aldactone but im initial breakout is gone and my skin is smooth and only a couple little guys which are drying out remain. i have pretty oily skin so the dryness and flakeness a lot of people have been talking about hasnt affected me. but i also have only been using a half of a pea size amount of the .05 tretinoin mixed with an oilfree night moisturizing cream. and in the morning i mix 4 drops of jojoba oil in an oil free spf 30 cream.(USE ONLY THE TRETINOIN AT NIGHT) i read a lot of reviews on the tretinoin before i started it and they freaked me out, but everyones skin is different so dont be discouraged by the bad ones. i was extremely depressed about how much i was breaking out a week ago and now i couldnt be happier. these two products together are worth a shot if youve tried everything else like i have. |

| Pros | Clears skin Evens out skin tone Removes brown spots quickly |
|---|---|
| Cons | Harsh initially Skin has to adjust to treatment Skin peels often Takes time |
| Bottom line | This product works very well as long as you stick with it. It took a month before my skin began to adjust to the treatment and that month was just plain unpleasant. My face broke out and my skin was sensitive to the touch. I was on the verge of discontinuing the treatment, but i decided listen to my dermotologist and just tough it out. This period is very crucial to the improvement of your acne and it is the reason many people give up. If your using this product and really want to drop it because of these side effects please do not. Just stick with it, in time your skin will improve drastically. Stop using this only if your dermotologist advises you to. Otherwise keep using it, I have for about 5 months and my skin looks so much better, its not totally flawless like a Neutrogena model, but it has improved so much. I love this product it just takes time and motivation. |

| Pros | Skin feels smoother Gives it a nice glow Helps the active pimples go away faster |
|---|---|
| Cons | Skin gets used to it. |
| Bottom line | I started using Retin-A Micro prescribed by my dermatologist, saw results the first week, I applied it every night, and noticed my skin looked healthy, glowy & very soft. I breakout mostly on my cheeks not so much on my forehead and chin, when i do its those little skintone bumps that goes away with a gentle scrub.. but on my cheeks I get the annoying red ones that take forever to come to the surface, the Retin-A, helped bring those stubborn ones out then I used clindamycin in the morning.. the only thing with it is that I think our skin gets used to products & we stop seeing results; so I recommend that you use it one week straight, then change it to every other day, it should help & good luck ;)) |

| Pros | Clears Skin Shrinks Pores No Toxic Side Effects |
|---|---|
| Cons | Hard to put a pea size amount all over face Initial Breakout Takes a bit of time to really see results |
| Bottom line | I was on Retin-A Micro a long time ago back in high school and it made me break out intensely until i got fed up and stopped using it and just used a benzoyl peroxide wash. I got clear and stayed clear for a sum amount of years but started breaking out again at 20 and kept at it. I ordered this product online and the first day putti ng it, no real results. Second day was the coolest thing (to me). My face looked "broken out" but what really happened was all of my acne had surfaced and whatever was arleady on my face was exfoliated into white heads, a cyst i had for a couple days even shrunk half its size! Anyways i washed my face and got redness and then just ignored it and in time i got more acne here and there but overall, once every clog in their is surfaced and ur sebacious glands shrink up, its clear skin for life :) |

| Pros | + treated all acne + soft skin +treated PIH |
|---|---|
| Cons | - initial breakout - 3 months to see results - redness/drying/flaking |
| Bottom line | IT WORKS. I saw initial results at 3 months and full results at 9 months (ie no more acne no more marks, just normal skin), so it takes a loooonnng time to work. It's hard to be patient but its worth it. I had combination normal/dry skin with tons of non inflamed, under the skin whiteheads which would turn into forever pimples and sometimes cysts. Nothing super super serious but definitely annoying and confidence killings. I think if you are patient and use retin a correctly you will see results!! So, use a tiny amount, wait 20 minutes before applying and use a good lotion on the dry spots and DON'T PICK. Around weeks 3-10 brace yourself for the IB and wait it out, its worth it!!! My best to you all! |
