Pros:nice colored pill and affordable
Cons:horrible scarring! does not help with acne at all
Bottom Line:doesn't work. works for some people such as my friends but not for me. on all of my friends who have tried it, scarring became an issue with this medication. it brings out the scars

Pros:Cured my moderate to sometimes severe and embarassing acne. I had been deeply depressed because of my appearance for about 5 years. My acne had affected my career and dating, I lacked the confidence required.
Cons:I developed chronic heart burn and now take zantac daily.
Bottom Line:This really takes its toll on your stomach. I used this for approx 5 years with excellent results. I am no longer depressed, I am confident, I am now clear and don't need to take this anymore. However, I now take pills for chronic heartburn daily (not such a hassle). I wish I had discovered this "cure" sooner.

Pros:there are no long-term pros for taking pharmaceutical drugs, let alone 'dangerous' antibiotics, for acne - which is most commonly caused by nutritional (i.e., vitamin, mineral, macronutrient) imbalances ...
Cons:antibiotics can contribute to imbalance of intestinal flora, can cause damage to your intestines, will burden your liver, and can contribute to the start of chronic degenerative diseases over the long term ...
Bottom Line:better to improve your diet and lifestyle than to rely on chemicals to improve your skin ... decrease consumption of saturated fats (esp hyrdogenated oils), dairy, sugar, salt, processed foods esp fried foods, alcohol, drugs (street, prescription, and over the counter), coffee, etc.; increase consumption of fresh raw vegetables and fruits, *whole* grains, fish, fiber, raw fresh oils (e.g., extra virgin olive oil, flax oil, hemp oil); drink ALOT of WATER (juice, tea, coffee, and pop are *not* the same!); get enough sleep; EXERCISE - move and sweat out your toxins!!; breathe deeply; don't pick at your pimples - this will cause them to spread; don't use harsh soaps or chemicals that dry out your skin ... i've been through this, i know! it may sound difficult but trust me, this will be so much MORE EFFECTIVE in LONG TERM and will protect you from disease in the future, too ... pharmaceutical drugs are only a short term solution and in the long run will do you more harm than good!

Pros:Keeps the big blemishes down.
Cons:Didn't clear up the little blemishes. Messes up your eating schedule. Can't go outside without sunscreen for long.
Bottom Line:I use this stuff to keep down the really big blemishes, but that is about it. It doesn't clear up the rest of my acne, so I've resorted to other products for those.

Pros:Worked quicker than I thought, cheap too
Cons:Messes up your eating schedule
Bottom Line:My derm prescribed this to me with retin-a micro and boy did it work. The month after I came back to her office and my acne %90 gone. I have a lot of acne scarring to get over still but it's pretty wonderful. It does make you kind of pukey after taking but it's not too bad.

Pros:Does not dry out my skin
Cons:Have to take on a empty stomach to be effective.
Bottom Line:I am a 22 year old male, I have dealt with acne since high school, I would say that I have mild to moderate acne, depending on the day. I have tried everything over-the-counter has to offer with absolutely no results, and in my frustration I finally saw a dermatologist. I was prescribed tetracycline 500MG capsules to take twice a day. I consistently took this medication correctly for over 2 months with little to no results. I really wanted this medication to give me a break, but just when I thought I was clear, a new wave of pimples would pop up on my face. Because its easy to take and theres no side effects for me, I will continue to take it until my next dermatologist appointment in a month. If anyone wants to try tetracycline I would recommend it, although it did nothing for me, it is still worth trying.

Pros:Worked great for the first six months, cleared everything up.
Cons:After six weeks my cystic acne worsened and I had more cysts than ever before, DAILY. And scarring. Ew.
Bottom Line:Try it out; if it works for you that's great. One of the side effects of tetracyclin (read the inserts on the drugs, please) says to stay out of the sun or you will have issues. Plus the whole antibiotic resistance thing....

Pros:Clears up acne very well, and has had no side effects as of yet.
Cons:Easy to forget; missed several dosages due to hectic schedule.
Bottom Line:If not for it being an antibiotic, this drug is ideal for clearing up acne. Granted, I still have some, but definitely not as much as before, and even then, I can tell improvement on the acne that still exists. Insurance paid for the medication, so price was no issue. Eating habits have changes since, seeing you should not take it on empty stomach, but nothing extreme or hard to do. Excellent product, only wish I could take it for a longer period of time.

Pros:It started working within a few days, and after the first month almost eliminated all break outs.
Cons:Doesn't help with scarring! Can't stay on it long-term since it can make you resistant to antibiotics.
Bottom Line:I can't believe how well tetracycline worked for me! And I did not get any of the stomach problems I heard about, and sometimes even forget to take it on an empty stomach, and even if I take it right before or after a meal, it doesn't cause upset stomach or nausea at all. Just wish I could stay on it forever...
