I'm 16 years old and have had acne for about four or five years now. I have tried several different things for my acne and a lot of them did not work out at all. When I first went to the doctor it was about my second year of having acne (just on my face). The doctor then put me on tetracycline. Suprisingly enough my acne cleared up in about a month or so of taking it. Unfortunately the acne did eventually come back. I then decided to use acne face washes from the drugstore thinking that maybe, just maybe, I would grow out of my acne. Spectrogel, Avene, Proactiv were just a few of the face washes I tired to use, but later found that they did not work. The sad thing is I am now 16 years old with not only moderate to severe acne on my face, but also on my back and chest. It is extremely disgusting and is kind of ruining my life. So I just went to the doctors yesterday and have been put back onto tetracycline. I really hope it works and if it doesn't I am not sure what I will do. I honestly am starting to lose hope. It's kind of hard not being able to go swimming with friends because of your back acne, and you dont really want to be in a relationship with someone because you don't want them to see your back acne either. So from here I'm not sure what I'll do. I just want it to go AWAY!!! Please help ANYONE if you can. I'm very desperate for any suggestions or help.

I had bad acne for years. I tried everything - quinoderm, clearasil, isotretinoin lotion, none of them worked.
I took ill with a chest infection and the doctor gave me Oxytetracycline. It cured my chest infection but I also noticed my acne going away. I went back and asked my doctor for more and he gave me a month's supply. By the time I had finished it, the acne was completely wiped out and has never been back since. It gave me no side-effects.
I wouldn't recommend it for mild acne because itt doesn't agree with a lot of people although it did with me. Taking it also risks thrush, sickness/diarrhoea and superbugs. It may be beneficial if your acne was very bad like mine was and nothing else has worked.

I just started taking tetracycline yesterday...i have mild acne but feel that one pimple can result in me missing out on a week of my life at a time! I am obsessed with flawless skin! About five years ago my acne was more moderate - severe. I went on accutane and my skin for the first 4-6 weeks was unruly and very dry...for all of you beginning accutane...keep taking it..it will give you perfect skin soon! I promise! Although they say it may give you clear skin forever it didn't. I'd say i started noticing small breakouts 2 years after...although nothing like i'd experienced before...i was quite pleased and do not regret taking it. I've been trying to find a birth control that i feel comfortable with for quite some time...i recently switched from Alesse to the Nuva ring...ver convinient but made me break out terrible and also effected my mood. I decided to go off hormones completely the other day and to go on tetracycline for my skin! hope it works! My rating is not really accurate as I do not know how well it will work...I put a 5 for good hopes!

I would overall recommend tetracycline! But be aware: don´t get all exited and think your acne is gone for good once you clear up! I used it for about a month before my acne to my complete satisfaction cleared all up! I was completely acne-free for about 5 months, but now a lot of the acne is back:( But it´s still better than before..

My skin was great until I got to age 44 then started getting acne - some days worse than others. My two sisters also had this problem at about the same age. As soon as I took Minocin the affects were obvious. My skin cleared within 72 hours - no kidding. Incredible

I think this acne medication suck really bad. I have been on the tetracycline for a month and it had actually made my acne even worse than it began. I use tetracycline with retin-a-micro and it nothing for my face but break out more acne. This product should not be sold. I am really unsatisfied with this medication. If you guys want acne to be clear go on the accutane. It is the only best acne medication.

I had some nasty acne cysts on my back when I first started taking Oxytetracyline and it definitely stopped them, it hasn't cleared up any of the rest of it though, my back gets better then gets worse again so it isn't curing anything.
The puss has changed to mostly white though, sometimes I get ones with thick puss, not watery at all, down my spine which is nicer than the yellow and sometimes green I used to get.
The before/after meals thing is a big pain though

I have been on tetracyclin twice--once when I was fourteen and now. It doesn't clear up the acne all on its own, but topical medications that I have tried in combination with it definitely work better than if I am not taking it. My main problem with it is that it seems to increase my appetite alot. I've gained weight both times, because I've had to eat alot more just to keep myself from feeling weak. I don't know if anyone else has had that side effect. Also it definitely causes stomach aches and is a pain to fit into your schedule because of not being able to take it for so long before or after eating.
