Being on Minomycin for about 3 weeks. I actually made things worst. I went back to me doc the other day and he tell me to keep taking it, and also prescrib me with Clindatech for mid acnes. I don't really know..arrrgg! I'm having worst acnes than ever. I'm being seeking advice for other products like proactiv, but some say it's good other say it's crap, just like people on this board who said Antibiodics works for them and other have the same effect like me. $@^$, i don't even know what to do.

I took tetracycline for acne in high school, and while it worked fairly well, I attribute developing a stress fracture in my lower back (L5) to tetracycline's possible side-effect of leeching calcium from bones. I was 15, playing football, and doing a heavy weight lifting program. I developed a chronic stress fracture, which caused me to not be able to play my junior and senior years. Many years later, I think it was possibly because of the tetracycline. Well, a little acne was not as socially detrimental as having to wear a back brace, and not being able to play sports. I must emphasize that I was lifting very heavy weights, like 540lbs on the leg press, which I'm sure contributed to the stress fracture.

i was using this pill when my achne started getting so bad i couldn't go out of the house without makeup on. it works very well when you have severe acne. it cleared me up about 60%. enough so i gained most of my confidence back. there are side effect when using this pill (that's why i stopped). i experienced stomach aches and pains about 30 min after taking the pill. i felt like throwing up. it says to take it on an empty stomach, but if you're feeling sick from this, either reduce the pill to every other day or eat 3 saltine crackers before you take the pill. also drink plenty of water with it. but remember, you'll still get acne, just not severe acne.

UPDATE!! Read my last comment.
I have now been using tetracycline for about 3 weeks now and my face is clearing up. I don't think I have had a breakout on my face for at least two weeks now. Also, my back acne is slowly starting to go away. Now my concern is scarring. I have a feeling the acne will leave scars on my body for some years now and was wondering if anyone knows of a product or medication that can help acne scars. Thanks!

I used tetracycline years ago and it worked well. It does however make your skin more sensitive to the sun and has specific rules that go along with taking the medication such as eating and lying down. I discontinued the antibiotic because my eye doctor noticed slight swelling in my optic nerves and noted that tetracycline may be the cause of it. Now I am stuck with less effective treatments and get embarrassing break outs every so often
