I've been taking tetracycline 250mg 4 times daily for the past few weeks and seems to be working. I've made sure to drink plenty of water because when I took minocycline sometime back I got kidney stones that seemed to be related to my taking the antibiotic. Urologist said it was from dehydration, but once I had gotten off the meds, no more stones. Someone also recommended to me to take acidophilus to help maintain the good bacterias in the body since the meds don't discriminate.

I'm on oxytetracycline, been on it for 4 weeks now! I have noticed a difference in my skin - after week 2 , but today i broke out - i think its due to the alcohol on saturday night and i missed a dose! but overall if i start taking it properly it does work! it does make me feel tired and sick sometimes though! I find that eating live yoghurt helps and stops the yeast infections

I took oxytetracycline for seven months and it had completely no effect whatsoever! My advice is to switch to erthromycin oral tablets and panoxyl (benzoyl peroxide) gel. Works a treat!

On Friday my sister and I were both prescribed Otrho-tri-cyclen Lo and Tetracycline(2 times a day!)

I heard that ortho Lo hasn't yet been studied for treating acne, should a doctor prescribe it for acne? How many of you take the Othro Lo for acne and have it working great for your acne?
Starting today I have to take Tetracycline twice a day, and Othro Lo, isn't that a little much?
Do any of you take othro lo and the Tetracyline twice a day?!?!
I read some of the side effects like severe back pain followed by bleeding, nauseating effects and so on, I really don't like medication, and have a huge problem with putting pills in my mouth, it took me half an hour drinking water and spitting the pills back out to finally swallow them.
I would like comments about my post if you relate to anything in there that I said, THank YOU!

Doesn't do much at all. I don't have severe acne, just mild-moderate, and it has done little for me.

This cleared up my spots. However, it made me burn more easily. Just walking outside my skin felt tingly. Another thing thats worked for me is cutting out all dairy. It works! Seriously.!

I was on Tetracycline for about a year. It worked wonders. I had clear beautiful skin. I could eat whatever I wanted and hardly ever washed my face. but about 11 months later I began to have blood in my urin and horrible pains in my lower back. I had many tests run and finally was told that Tetracycline was the problem. I also began to get brown spots on my teeth. I was sick at my stomach the whole time I was taking it and vomiting constanly. I've been off of it for a year now and all those horrible simtoms have disappeared. My frickin acne came back though and I've tried everything over-the-counter. I don't know what to do.

I am a twenty year old girl and I have been taking Tetracycline for six years. My acne exploded when I was fourteen, over a period of about six months, and I remember counting fifteen huge nodules on my face at one point. I kid you not, after a mere six weeks of taking four Tetracycline 200 mg capsules a day, my skin was flawless. My skin care routine is very basic. I wash my face with Dial antibacterial bar soap, a soft wash cloth, and warm (never hot) water twice daily. I use Differin gel in the morning and Benzac AC 10 cream at night. I also wash my hair every day with a medicated shampoo, like Head & Shoulders. The only negative side effects I experience from the pills are nausea and heartburn. I'm not saying this routine is right for everyone, but for me, less is more. It is a simple routine that is easy to stick to.

I would recommend CAUTION with long term use of this medicine...I was on it for about 2 years...the first year was alright, it helped a bit...but then I started developing secondary infections...I stopped taking it completely after 2 years after ending up in the hospital with 3 seperate infections at the same time due to the lack of good bacteria in my system...you might want to look into taking ACIDOPHILIUS...its over the counter...it basically puts good bacteria back into your system (like the kind found in yogurt, only in a higher dose) this will help fight infections in addition to helping prevent upset stomach. Good Luck!
