I find tea tree oil to be an effective staple in every medicine cabinet. Not only can it be used for giant acne spots (I find a generous dab on a big spot the night before reduces the swelling and redness), it also has wonderful anti-bacterial properties for healing cuts, scrapes and blisters. It ensures that you won't get an infection, and doesn't sting like rubbing alcohol. However, several studies have shown that it should not be used to heal burns. But for minor wounds and acne spots, use pure tea tree oil as a natural treatment.

I had great success with tea tree oil. After using BP... and it being ok.. and working... i decided i wanted to branch out and try an alternative more natural approach to it all. So i bought a few things from Lush (Herbalism face cleanser, Tea Tree Water Toner and Imperialis moisturiser all of which i highly reccomend) and then used pure undiluted australian (Thursday Plantation) tea tree oil on my spots. This cleared my face up completely in two weeks. then i got over confident... picked some pores.. and now i have spots again. but ive just bought some Thursady plantation Tea tree cream (more like a lotion).. which is very soothing and i think may help without overly drying like pure oil. Tests have shown that 5% tea tree oil is as effective against acne as 5% BP, but without a lot of horrible side effects. which is encouraging :D

I have had suffered from acne for the past 7 years (recently it has been lingering mostly around the chin and jawline area), and I just started using 100% pure Australian Tea Tree Oil (purchased 2Fl.oz. from Wal-Mart for under $5). Unfortunately, I have an allergic reaction to Benzoyl Peroxide, so that has left me with Salicylic Acid products. SA is effective, but I also need something besides BP to fight bacteria at the root of the problem -- to my relief (!!!), I've recently discovered that TTO does just that. After two nights of applying it to the affected areas, I have noticed less redness, less swelling on spots (I get regular and cystic acne), and overall a clearer appearance. It is a bit drying, but I use toner and moisturizer to balance it out (and if it helps my skin, that's all I care about). It's a little early to fully assess, but so far, so good..

a great natural treatment for acne, but just like bp it can be very drying if used excessively and since tea tree comes in 100% purity you definatly must dilute it or it will burn!! i have used the one from the body shop that alrady comes diluted mixed it with some aloe vera to make a gel and it works fabulous on a pimple without overdrying. i have also used the 100% tea tree oil mixed with jojoba oil 1-2 ratio and aloe vera, its great! although, i dont think this works on old red marks and pimples but it definately calms down the new ones w/o leaving any redness

I use Australian tea tree oil on my acne, it dries them fast and prevents the post acne red marks on your face.

I used it twice a day on my navel piercing, which had become irritated. The irritation subsided and the swelling reduced within 3 days of using it. My boyfriend uses it because it stops cold sores from breaking out.

A combination of tea tree oil and two weeks in the cyprus sun left my skin looking so much better, try it!

I've tried tea tree oil from a drugstore own brand, because the original oil from Australia is three times as expensive! But now i've read the positive experiences i might try the original one! I agree that it makes your skun very dry, but moisturizer makes the dryness less, luckily. At least it's way better than benzylperoxide, 'cause that's really too agressive for one's skin!!

Definetly get the Austrailian kind. Any other kind dries out your skin and reduces the pimple only temporarily.
