DON"T USE TEA TREE OIL from Australia
January 7, 2010
| Pros | There are some, as mentioned in other posts. |
|---|---|
| Cons | Burning the skin itself (like sunburn or chemical burn), worse acne. |
| Bottom line | I used Tea Tree Oil for a few weeks and, at first it was my wonder product, then it was not. The oil burnt my face, leaving it red and inflamed. My acne, which was under control and nearly gone, practically exploded. I got cysts, pimples, redness...everything. It was awful and it was really difficult to manage. I went to a dermatologist a month or so later. My acne had been mild, it was now moderatly severe. Now, this breakout had practically made me a hermit. It was the last straw and I got fairly depressed, dysmorphic and anti-social. It affected me and my family. My dermatologist said to NEVER USE TEA TREE OIL because it will mess your skin up; now and/or in the long run. My verdict is: The risk is not worth it. I'm still getting over the nodules that the tea tree caused. Now, go to your doctor and listen to what they say. Go to a dermatologist and listen to what they have to say. At the end of the day though, its up to you, your skin and how you react. Cheers. |

| Pros | Can control oil. |
|---|---|
| Cons | Has strong smell and rather expensive (but worth its price) for its size. I also wish it had a dropper since it is difficult to keep control of the drops. |
| Bottom line | I am not sure if it has been long enough to judge its effectiveness when concerning acne considering I have only been using it for four days. I will say, though, that I have not had a blemish since my first application. However, it has been WORKING WONDERS on my extremely oily skin. My skin has not been slick with oil since I started using it. This is the first time ever that I have seen such results with a product and I am really impressed. I STRONGLY recommend it to any individual that is having problems with oily skin. It should also be noted that if it controls oil then it should control acne since it is a main culprit in causing breakout if not maintained. My regimen is: After I wash my face I put about a dime size of aloe vera on my hand and on top of the mound I add a drop of tea tree oil and mixed it with my fingertips before I smooth it over my face. I then apply my moisturizer. I hope it works for everybody else! |

| Pros | -reduces redness. -helps control acne spreading - the way it rolls on stops bacteria growing - good when used with Bp - prefect size for in your makeup bag. - good to put on throughout the day if you feel a spot coming on. |
|---|---|
| Cons | - you have to put it on often - I dont feel i could just use the tea tree. |
| Bottom line | The product i bought was a tea tree oil blemish stick. After having a large breakout my mum suggested it. I tried it to good sucess, it helps soothe the acne while reducing it. I found it usefull however i wouldnt just use it on its on. |

| Pros | Good smell (IMO), reduces acne without much drying of the skin, reduces redness also. |
|---|---|
| Cons | Expensive (one bottle costs 12€ :S ) |
| Bottom line | Apply three of four drops to a cotton bud and rub onto whole face. Will reduce redness, swelling and blistering. Do twice a day, once after getting up, another before sleep. |

| Pros | Lasts a while, as it must be diluted. |
|---|---|
| Cons | Incredibly strong smell, expensive, didn't do anything to my acne, made me break out more. |
| Bottom line | I tried tea tree oil, but it was ineffective. I used it every day for about two weeks, but there was no difference in my acne. In fact, the first day I used the oil, I didn't dilute and it worsened my acne. After that, I diluted it but it still didn't do anything. Moreover, the smell is incredibly strong. Thankfully my roommate kind of liked the smell, but if you're living with someone, the smell is very powerful. All in all, an ineffective and expensive product. Did absolutely nothing to my acne. |

| Pros | None |
|---|---|
| Cons | It worked for...about a day and then I began to break out. It smells, it stings and it has caused my face to become bumpy and red again. |
| Bottom line | It might work for some, but it won't work for others. Be aware of the fact. |

| Pros | Appealing to kill bacteria around your face, prevents acne and dries up any developing pimples. |
|---|---|
| Cons | Slow procees, Expensive in Boots; £4.00 for 10ml, which is quite a bit, as well only being beneficial if used in steaming water, directly applied on skin could harm. |
| Bottom line | It alright, not the best of treatments for acne, or spots. Causes quite a bit of dryness,Worth the amount of meoney 100% I believe but Im not an expert read the other comments for further information |

| Pros | It reduces the size of pimples, lightens red marks, is easy to use and is organic. |
|---|---|
| Cons | The smell, stings. |
| Bottom line | Overall, tea tree oil is great for acne. I use a 100% pure liquid as a topical cream on my face in the evening and a blemish stick under my make-up. Both are from the Thursday Plantation which specialises in tea tree Oil. On open cuts it burns; which is good insentive to not pick at pimples. I have post-inflammatory hyper-pigmentation and have found that using 100% tea-tree oil on the red marks every couple of days and I have found that it helps fade them away. It is a very gradual process and I have been careful putting tea-tree oil on unaffected areas of my face - if you don't need it on part of your skin, don't put it there. Plain and simple. Another use is to put a few drops of the oil into a bowl of boiling water and steam your face with it. Basically, if you use tea tree oil right it will help with acne and red-marks. It's not a miracle treatment but it does help significantly. Tea Tree Oil = wonder from Down Under. |

| Pros | clears skin QUICKLY! very very quickly. stops any new acne from forming. less oily skin |
|---|---|
| Cons | smells funny. WILL cause dryness if over-applied. |
| Bottom line | I noticed results RIGHT AWAY. by the second day, all my previously existing acne had disappeared and no new acne had formed. I can't believe I've never tried this before last week. My skin now looks clear and all dark spots have faded. My skin looks healthy! I add 3 drops of the oil to about 30 ml of water. DO NOT ADD MUCH MORE THAN THAT. it will dry out your skin if you over apply. sometimes, i mix a few drops in with my cleanser in the morning. at night, i wash with a cleanser, then steam my face for 5 mins, then gently rub the diluted TTO to my face and let it sit for a few mins. then rinse and pat dry. NO MORE THAN 2X PER DAY! very powerful stuff. |
