| Pros | So far so good. I've replaced benzoyl peroxide with tea tree oil in my regimen since tea tree oil has anti-cancer effects as well. |
|---|---|
| Cons | Smell, but it dissipates quickly. Allergic reactions to it seem to be common. My friend is allergic to it. |
| Bottom line | If you break out in hives or redness, discontinue use. You are most likely allergic to it. I dilute the tea tree oil with jojoba oil (which is also very good for acne prone skin) making a 5% TTO solution. I rub a few drops in every morning. I use it in conjunction with Retin-A and fish oil supplements. After 10 years of acne, I finally I have a treatment down that doesn't include birth control pills. You can find it for $8/2oz at Walmart, and this will go a very long way. Check out [link removed] for research abstracts done on tea tree oil or any other treatment you are interested in. |

| Pros | Seemed like it got rid of acne at first |
|---|---|
| Cons | Smell Stopped working and made my acne worse Left red sploches on my skin, that are still there to this day, 4 weeks later |
| Bottom line | This didn't work for me. I tried it undiluted, and it seemed to work, and i guess it just got too harsh for my skin and now i have red blotches on my skin that won't go away. I recommend diluting it first. I even tried diluting it into my face wash, and it hasnt really worked since. |

| Pros | Worked |
|---|---|
| Cons | Stinks. Caused rash one time when I didn't dilute with carrier oil or aloe vera gel. Drying Took longer than BP |
| Bottom line | I didn't know at the time I tried tea tree oil that the study comparing it with BP to treat acne used 5% tea tree gel. Next time I'll try that because even diluted tea tree oil is just too drying for my skin and smells very strong. Probably because I'm not diluting it no where near as low of concentration as 5%. |

| Pros | I works great as SPOT TREATMENT ONLY What is does for me is totally eliminate the pimple and leave a dry skin patch, that peels off and reveals clear (slightly pink) skin that fades. |
|---|---|
| Cons | Added it to my facewash, and it ruined my clear skin. Left me with red spots that still wont go away. Horrible rash..:( Smells a bit. |
| Bottom line | I have been using it as a spot treatment and that worked great. So i added a drop or two to my cleanser, which worked great too. Unitl the 3rd day and now I have an awful rash all over my face. Red spots everywhere. So be careful. I thought my skin was used to it, but I guess not. Stick to using it as a spot treatment, or buy a cleanser where it is ONE of the ingredients..... Moral of the story: Be careful. Just because I had an allergic reaction doesn't mean you will too, but seriously, test it for a long time. The emotional damages from this is far worse than a few spots. |

| Pros | Clears skin and prevents future breakouts! |
|---|---|
| Cons | Leaves skin dried out. |
| Bottom line | Love it. I use "amosphere (not atmosphere) tea tree oil facial wash", and use the "amosphere antibacterial facial stick" for problem spots. It's worked wonders considering I've even been prescribed stuff by the doc that didn't work. I've also been taking "DermaMed: for troubled skin" pills (one a day) along with the tea tree oil treatment. My face isn't as red as it once was from acne scars either. :) It cost me around 7$ for each amosphere product, and 30$ for the pills (these are optional though). Overall, VERY happy! |

| Pros | - As effective as using Benzoyl Peroxide. - 100% natural oil that contains no harmful chemicals (the organic equivalent of Benzoyl Peroxide). - Can be used neat, depending on skin types and skincare regime to increase remedial effectiveness. - Can be added to other carrier oils as a topical remedy for other skin ailments. |
|---|---|
| Cons | - Pure tea tree oil (cold-pressed and not adulterated) can be a little difficult to find. - Can be a little pricey, depending on the quality and extraction of oil. - Expiry date should be carefully observed/oxidation will occur if exposed to light and heat. - Can be drying and may not be suitable for all skin types. - Can take a while before any noticeable results (as with all organic oils). Patience is key. - Smell can be strong and unpleasant for som |
| Bottom line | I would have given it a rating of 5 if not for the fact that it can be drying to my skin. More often, it has been very effective in the remedy of acne and oily skin for me when I was using it for a while. It dried out the pus-filled acne and helped heal acne wounds. It's an effective remedy as the oil is anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, anti-viral and antiseptic. It is also commonly used therapeutically to relieve nasal congestion, sinus, minor cuts, wounds and sores. Other than lavender essential oil, tea tree oil can be used neat on the skin. However, as with all essential oils, it is not recommended that the oil be taken orally (unless specified otherwise ie food grade). Even if you do not use this oil for acne, it is a very handy oil to keep in the medicine cabinet or first aid kit. I ran out of tea tree oil a month back and have not been able to purchase a new bottle as it is currently out of stock. However, with my current acne regime (antibiotics, Shiseido products), I would definitely use tea tree oil to treat acne wounds. |

| Pros | It makes a great toner, the TTO feels good and really works! |
|---|---|
| Cons | Can dry skin out.. make sure to moisturize! I put it on a cotton ball and apply to slightly damp skin after cleansing [the skin being slightly damp allows it to be applied undiluted], I let it sit for 5-10 min, rinse then apply a honey mask, let sit, rinse and moisturize. [I do this twice a day] |
| Bottom line | This is a great product! I have been dealing with acne for way too many years and love TTO, I started it almost a year ago and my skin has cleared up a lot, another great product is apple cider vinegar [I tried it before the TTO and it worked pretty well, but TTO works the best]. Although my skin isn't completely clear, it is doing a lot better than it was before I started using TTO and only gets really annoying around that time of the month [which I have noticed taking aleve a day or two before menstruation, during, and a couple days after really helps] For me, the bottom line is get it! |

| Pros | Really gets rid of my acne! Cheap |
|---|---|
| Cons | Burns sort of, probably not for those with sensitive skin |
| Bottom line | I've never used the bodyshop stuff, but regular stuff you buy at coles. Tea tree oil is the cure for everything.. its my windex. Itchy bites, sores, pimples, even the washing if you want a fresh smelling load! You can feel it killing all the germys on your face. I use it once at night after washing my face. I also alternate with lemon juice, which also works for me. I think the natural stuff will always work the best! Honey is also a wonderful mask. But don't get tea tree oil too strong or your face will crumble! My friend who also uses it made this mistake. Try it! |
