| Pros: | Controls Acne, Reduces Pore Size, reduces scaring, and its less irritating than 1st generation retinoids. |
| Cons: | Over use can cause peeling, flaking, redness and swelling. |
| Bottom Line: | I'm a big fan of Tazorac 0.1% gel and the 0.1% cream. I use the 0.1% gel in the summer and switch to the 0.1% cream in the winter. Rather than jumping right to slather either formulation on every night at bedtime, I let my skin adjust to the new level of exfoliation. I started one night a week for 4 weeks, then 2 nights for 4 weeks. and so on till I'm up to an every night routine. This really helps to reduce the crazy peeling alot of people seem to experince. And its pretty normal for my to break out more at the start of the therapy, but it settles down by the 5th or 6th week. What really helps me tolerate Tazorac treatment are the NON-glycolic products from M.D. Forte. There made by Allergan, the same co. that makes tazorac. They really help reduce the irritation and redness, like 10 fold. |

| Pros: | Affordable, covered by insurance, doesn't bleach clothing |
| Cons: | burns skin, causes peeling, significantly worsens acne initially |
| Bottom Line: | I have been on Tazorac for about 3 weeks now and my acne is worse than ever. I was getting pretty worried, but I feel a lot better after reading these posts and seeing that MANY other people have shared similiar results. Hopefully, the result will be well worth the month of even worse skin. So far, I'm not sure if I would recommend it or not. |

| Pros: | NONE!!! |
| Cons: | Burns, Itches, Irritates, Redness, Sorness |
| Bottom Line: | This stuff sucks, it irritated my skin so bad when I got my eyebrows waxed it took off my skin, luckily I used Neosporin and it heeled up. My skin was so dry no moisturizer would work, not even vaseline. The funny thing about this whole thing is, my skin isnt sensitive at all!! I have tough skin. |

| Pros: | Tazorac has worked better then any other topical treatment I have tried. It evened my skin tone and cleared up most of my acne. |
| Cons: | It caused redness, peeling, itching and burning. |
| Bottom Line: | Tazorac is great if you want to use a topical treatment to treat your acne, however Tazorac does not cure acne. You will have to use this product everyday if you want to keep the results. You can not skip treatments or you will not see the benefits. The biggest benefit I have received by using Tazorac is even skin tone. As an African American woman I have had lots of issues with scarring and uneven skin tone. Tazorac has done wonders for my skin tone (minus the red cheeks). The biggest problem I have experienced with Tazorac is the side effect that causes my face to peel weekly. I use a facial mask to peel off the dead skin, which really helps. I don't really expereince itching unless I have not applied it for several days. My cheeks almost always look red because of the medication. I can't say it will work for you because everyone is different, but I think it's worth a try. I purchase a tube that lasts me a year for about $85 w/insurance so I guess that equals out to $7 a month. |
