I think it's ok.. My skin was clearing up and I was scared of the overdrying.. I'm back on it now and I just have to lotion up. The over drying is the only problem I had.. For a spot treatment the majority of the time I think it's great..

Please be patient!!!! I have been using for about 4 weeks. At first both of my cheeks broke out with lots of pimples, but I expected it because my doc said the tazorac along with the 2x p/day antibiotics would cause the bacteria to surface which is what you want. Peeling was minimal but I am on a .05 Tazorac Cream. I've also been using Klear Action ($20 drugstore copy of ProActiv) as cleanser and then I use the Obagi clear and #5 fader/bleach to get rid of the redness/blemish from the breakout. It is a process...but by god it seems to be working and I mean I have spent thousands over the years with no success until now. I'll be 40 in Jan. and had my first breakout ever at 35. I'm hoping My skin will be clearer in my 40's. Unfotunately, I have a few small scars that hopefully will fade in time. Good luck!

Tazorac is an amazing drug! At least for me, it did wonders in getting rid of the huge ones, such as cysts and nodules. Do not smear Tazorac all over your face because the drug will dry up the skin, make it very painful and doesn't do much help. I do not think it should be used for mild forms of acne. The key is to apply in little amounts, dabbing it on inflammed pimples and letting it dry. I could results within one day and in a few days cysts or nodules I had were gone.

I spent most of my teenage and adult years trying every acne medication on the planet. Finally, Accutane cleared my acne and oily skin for about 12 years.I'm now 35 and it's all coming back!!!I've been using Tazorac(low dose, the stronger one made my face peel off)at night and ProActive during the day. This combination seems to be working better than either one alone. I skip the astringent and use everything sparingly.I've also used Proactive knock-offs from the drug store like AcneeFree. They're much cheaper than ProActive and work just as well! I only use a light moisturizer under my eyes (clinique-All About Eyes),because the medicine does travel up and irritates the delicate eye tissue.

I have only been using the Tazorac for a week now so my testimonial is weak, at best. I am also using a 2.5% BP gel and am on Doxycycline (antibiotic, 2x a day) and a birth control for acne, Desogen. So far, with the combo of all of these drugs, my skin is only getting worse. I had moderate cystic acne on my cheeks, but now my entire face is covered in what looks like poison ivy or a rash, is very itchy and red, peels constantly and i am starting to become very depressed over it. I am going to stick with using a very small amount of the Tazorac .1% cream at night along with Cetaphil cleanser and lotion for at least the three month trial period. I am a college senior with a very busy schedule so i can't hide under covers all day like I would like to so I really hope something starts to work soon, or else I might have to add Prozac to my regime!

I've been using tazorac for a couple years after I finished with Accutane. At first it made my skin worse, but then I saw improvements, especially on my forehead and with whiteheads. I still do get flare-ups though, and am wondering if ProActiv would work better. Anybody know which works better, or has anyone tried both?

Ok I didn't develop acne untill the summer between my junior and senior year in high school. I went to the derm and was prescribed Tazorac and Duac. My face was a little red and peely but not too bad for the first month or so. I noticed a drastic improvement very quickly. I noticed excessive dryness with the Duac, after a while, so I discontinued using it and stuck with the Tazorac. I applied it after I washed my faced and everything was great. I have beem using this product for over a year now and am now suffering from extreme dryness. I have so much peeling on my cheeks and chin and my makeup looks terrible. I am very uncomfortable and I wonder why now? I am almost ready to suffer through acne than the dryness. At least makeup can cover it up. Hopefully it will go away soon. Does anyone recommend any moisturizer?

This is only my first week using this so I may not be a good source but from what I've seen so far, this stuff is excellent. I had a huge breakout the other day and it dried it up super fast. The only downside to this seems to be the dry, itchy skin. I'm using this in conjuction with finacea gel so maybe that's why my skin is so itchy and dry. If you cannot afford to go easy on the makeup for a week or two, I wouldn't suggest this because it doesn't cover right. A lot of people are complaing about how harsh it is, but i'd rather look like a lobster for a week or two than go back to breaking out everyday.
