I'm 27 and have had acne for about 13 years. It only recently started getting worse in the last 3 years. I started applying Tazorac gel every night back in Nov. over entire face. After about a month, my face was getting better overall, but was dry and flaky on chin. Derm suggested Taz because I am so oily - unfortunatley, I still am. (Thank you blotters! I couldn't go out without them.) About three weeks ago, my chin and mouth area suddenly became VERY red and VERY bumpy - I've never had that kind of acne before, I've been lucky and only had single spot-type acne, never like a rash. I now only apply to spots on remainder of face and have stopped applying to the irritated area altogether. I have a Derm appt next week - I'm interested to see what she says and if she switches me to something else. I'm also applying Clindamycin gel all over face before the Tazorac at night. I'm also a little concerned about the possible birth defects. I'm not pregnant, but may be someday soon... Final note: Vaseline was the only thing I could find that helped with the dryness. I've been applying at night. Feels good to "talk" about this, thanks.

I've been using Tazorac for a little less than a week now, and well to be quite honest, my face looks like crap. But this is what the dermotoligist told me what would happen. The cream is bringing the pimples to the surface and sure they are more noticable now, but the cream is getting rid of them in the process. Be sure to keep it FAR away from your lips and mouth though, it will cause severe dryness, flaking and redness. I didnt even put it around my lips and they were as wrinkled as prunes by the morning. As long as you don't mind looking like an extra large pepperoni pizza for a week or so, then this stuff will work. trust me, i was skeptical at first, the burning was so bad I had ice on my face and was near tears. But it all works out in the end.

I've only been taking this med for about 3 weeks and it's becoming hell! The first week was actually good, I noticed some improvement in the way my skin felt and it's appearance. But, I was also using a BP cream in the morning. When I called my doc to ask him if the excessive burning was to be expected, he instructed me to stop using the BP, which was a huge mistake. Now I am peeling, burnings, and breaking out even more. My skin feels like it is going to crack and has also gotten a million times darker than my neck and the rest of my body. My neck itches and I don't even use it there. I am not happy with this med, AT ALL.. I'm gonna stick it out though, nothing has ever worked in the past.
