| Pros | cleared skin apparently slows aging |
|---|---|
| Cons | HUGE PORES >:[ itched when I applied it |
| Bottom line | Man, this worked so well. BUT it made my pores HUGE. They are still large and gross now, although I am using benzoyl peroxide which shrinks them a little. It gave me clear skin, but now I have huge gross pores, which is so much worse D: I did some research on the boards and other people have had this issue. |

| Pros | -cleared up most acne -skin soft -improves skin over time -acne scars fading |
|---|---|
| Cons | -takes a very long time to work(3months) -bad initial breakout -breakouts kept coming -very dry skin -sensitive to the sun |
| Bottom line | finally my 3 month trial of .1% tazorac is done and i can actually look in the mirror again!! I started back in april and within a week my acne got worse and it kept getting worse for 2 months. but when the last month came my acne started to decrease (but i still had a bunch of breakouts including new acne scars). so basically in 12 weeks my acne is almost gone:) i do have like 1 new active pimple but its small and my acne scars are fading now and i am pretty sure by August my acne and scars will fade. I was also taking solodyn 88mg and aczone. i used solodyn everyday and i seriously don't think it worked or helped at all. i don't like the side effects of this pill because if you don't take it for 3 days your face gets all this red swollen bumps and those pimples hurt and lasts for a whole week!. so basically i do not recommend solodyn because your acne becomes dependent on this. I also used aczone like for a month and off and on. i dont think this worked much either. So basically i just woke up in the morning and washed my face with a dove soap and moisturize my skin with aveeno ultra calming lotion (great lotion it help a lot with the dried out skin). and at night washed my face again and put some more lotion then after 15 min. i used tazorac every night. My overall experience with this medicine is that you have to be really patient and accept the bad breakouts. For 3 months i ran away from pictures and had to listen to random people telling me how to treat my skin. it was embarrassing and annoying! but dont worry just let time pass. But don't let acne ruin your life!!!!! it is so much easier to say this now that my acne is almost gone but just hang in there:) and good luck!!!! |

| Pros | Works wonders, Rednes goes away Acne has been erased from face Scars are mostly gone Gotten huge compliments about skin Contact me for entire routine, dint fit in the bottom line area, am always on email |
|---|---|
| Cons | Face red at times Flaking pealing and burning Oily face Takes long time |
| Bottom line | This cream is a cream that will change lifes for people with acne, am 17 and I started getting acne at the age of 13 and it only got worse leaving dark spots (scars) all over my face, I felt horrible and at times never wanted to leave the house, I feel really bad saying this but at times I felt like vomiting suicide, my skin was covered with acne and full of dark scars, I remember I saw a pic from a wedding I went and that was when I realized my face was so bad and scared, that was when I told my mom I wanted to go to the derm and he was so quick on looking at my skin and then gave me a routine to to fallow, I was scared to use this cream because I never heard of this cream before, I tought he was going to give retina~a or accutane but never this cream , I was scared, then when to google and found positive and negetive reviews, this cream takes a while to work it's wonderful magic, my face got red the first months and the initial breAkout was noticible but not bad! My face got really flaky, after that went away then came burning, while sleeping I would awake with a burning sensation on my face and I quickly aplyed moisturizer (cetaphil-doesn't break me out) then in the morning I saw the burn and then it turned rock hard and looked really bad, but 3 days later the part of the skin that got burned healed it left it sooo soft and pimple free :) this burning happened 5 or 6 times, I discovered that I was using way to much, since I got a new tazorac tube every month( insurance) , so I tought " oh I have to use all the cream all in one month, and my acne might go away faster" using slot of this cream can be bad so I dont recommend it, u might hear this slot but trust me only use a PEA size amount, it been almost 7 month and am 99% clear, acne in gone , I will never be perfect on god is, my skin has gotten so much smother and clear, I dint realize how good my skin got until my uncle and mom told me that my skin looked like baby skin, routine? | Pros | Made skin clear really fast Made my dry skin less flaky |
|---|---|
| Cons | can get greasy at times expensive if you dont have a good medical plan |
| Bottom line | I had light acne since i was 11 but it has been getting really bad lately (im 15 now). My doctor had put me on a bunch of other medications but they werent strong enough. The day after i got the Tazorac I saw it make a difference. Because my skin is naturally dry it made it smooth and not flaky. I've been on it for about a month now and i havent seen one pimple. the only thing that might be a problem is the cost for some people, for me it was only $5.00 cause of my medical plan |

| Pros | Made skin much smoother Greatly reduced amount of pimples Only need a pea-sized amount for whole face |
|---|---|
| Cons | Takes a long time to work Somewhat greasy Got worse before it got better Pricey |
| Bottom line | I've had mild acne since I was 14, but this year it turned severe for some odd reason (I'm 25). It was terrible--big white postules all over my face and neck. I was desperate so I told my dermatologist to be aggressive with treatment without resorting to Accutane. Here is my regimen: Morning-- Wash face with Cetaphil mild cleansing bar Wait 10 minutes for face to dry Apply CeraVe moisturizer (important to prep your skin with lotion before Tazorac) Apply Tazorac Apply Neutrogena coverup and mineral foundation (which lessens the greasiness/redness) Evening-- Wash face with Cetaphil bar Wait 10 minutes for face to dry Apply Acanya gel Apply CeraVe I also take Solodyn (antibiotic) and Spironolactone. Things stayed the same for the first three weeks of treatment. By the fourth week, my acne became much worse. I was very embarrassed, but I knew that I needed to stick with the treatment. I began to notice improvement by about 7 weeks. It has now been 12 weeks and my skin feels much smoother and most of the acne has subsided (I just have a few pimples around my mouth). I am also left with red scars, but my doc said they would fade eventually. You will probably become discouraged with this medicine because it makes your face much worse after a few weeks. But don't give up--you will eventually see results! |

| Pros | Great exfoliant Helps reduce the problem of acne Has helped clear me up Helps acne reduction which is a HUGE pro |
|---|---|
| Cons | Cost depending on insurance Does cause an initial breakout Can make you peel frequently Does not work well with moisture Creates sun sensitivity |
| Bottom line | Tazorac is one of those products people may hate because of its unfun start. It will most likely cause people to shed for the first few weeks to possibly a month. I reccomend getting the gel and NOT the cream. The gel will dry people out more, but the cream is designed for people fighting wrinkles and not acne. Retinoids are great for exfoliating the skin and reducing the amount of oil production in the skin. For products like Benzoyl peroxide or any acne medication for that matter.... it is important that they penetrate the skin, into the deepest layers of your epidermis. Tazorac, since it is a chemical exfoliant, sheds away all of the dead skin so that acne medications can penetrate better. I do not believe using tazorac alone will clear up acne since it doesnt exactly "treat" acne itself, so you really need to be put on either a topical antibiotic, benzoyl peroxide, or both (Acanya contains clindamycin phosphate and BP 2.5%) If going on all these products it is best to use taz every other night or every two nights cause the over exfoliation will make your skin extremely irritated. I love this combination and am 100% clear after 10 years of having persistant cystic acne. |

| Pros | -not sure |
|---|---|
| Cons | -worst initial breakout!! -more acne scars -takes forever to work -dry skin -sun sensitive |
| Bottom line | my doctor gave me this medicine along with an antibiotic and so far i have been on this for 9 weeks!! And i still have about 20 active pimples and a bunch of acne scars. i am still waiting for tht day i wake up and my face is clear. the first week i went on this medicine my face started to breakout (before that i was on taz .05 for the whole 3 months) then after that i just kept breaking out. after about 6 weeks my horrible breakout finally stopped but pimples still kept on coming. i dont think i would recommend tazorac .1% to anyone because it takes so long to work and u cant go to the beach without having to wear a hat and alot of suncreen! i seriously think there is better treatments out there. i seriously think my acne became worse with this medicine. 2 months is way to long for me to not be able to go out and be able to have fun liike i used to. well anyways i have 3 more weeks left and hopefully it would finally work!! |

| Pros | None |
|---|---|
| Cons | Initial breakout Doesn't work Skin extremely sun-sensitive Flaking |
| Bottom line | I started this medication beginning of last year (2010) when I was 18. I had struggled with acne since I was 14 but was managing to keep it at bay. Then a couple months before I started tazorac I started having mild/moderate breakouts. The dermatologist I saw was really uninterested in having any real conversation with me about my experiences so far with acne, she just wanted to fill out a perscription and send me on my way. I went on the medication anyway and it was just like all the other failed stories - breakouts went from bad to terrifying pretty quickly. Hoped it would get better but 2-3 months later things just continued to get worse. AVOID THIS MEDICATION. There are better alternatives that will clear you up without having to put yourself through the anxiety of the initial breakout - and the very real possibility that it's just not going to get better. |

| Pros | -leaves skin soft -gets rid of acne -best form of retinoid cream out there -didn't make it worse in the beginning |
|---|---|
| Cons | -drying -redness -may take time to work -costs a lot without insurance |
| Bottom line | It works stick with it! the best facial treatment I have ever tried. This works even faster in combination with tetracycline or any other form of oral antibiotic. So far its working already and I'm on my second week. The combination of antibiotics and tazorac really does work faster to clear up your acne. Ill tell you why, well antibiotics reduce swelling and gets rid of the bacteria and the tazorac speeds up the cell turnover and removes dead skin cells and therefore renews the skin and also fades scars and hyperpigmentation. (Tip- USE A MOISTURIZER BEFORE USE!) Its absolutely vital that you get a gentle cleanser and a moisturizer. Those are the three steps to this regimen for this product to really work! |
