I used tazorac for 3 days and the whole time i used it, i broke out really bad in places i never broke out before. It made my skin oily b/c it was so dry, it even made me look i had a slight sun burn in the middle of witner! My face itched and burned and was a very bad choice for my derm to tell me to use this. Let's just say i went back the next week.

I have been using Tazorac for 6 weeks now and my acne is better - but not completely gone. I would definitely say that patience is key and when your Dr. tells you to use an amount the size of a pea, they aren't kidding. If you use too much you WILL have problems (red, itcy, flaky, burning). So take it easy and use moistuizer over it. I use Eucerin and it seems to counteract it's drying effects without causing further breakouts. Working pretty well so far for me, but I am still breaking out a little. Hopefully in a few weeks I won't have any pimples at all.

I had really bad acne for awhile... I was put on Accutane for awhile, and after that was put on Tazorac. I'm still using it and it works great! I haven't had a whole lot of issues with reactions, but my skin is fairly oily (though after being on Accutane and Tazorac I've found it to produce less oil- good in my case!) I did have some problems with dryness at one point, but I just eased up on the usage and only put it directly on my acne spots, and it was fine. As for price... I'm in the military so I didn't have to pay for it :)

about 3 years ago i used tazorac for pimples on my chin....and it did make it worse before it got better. it was pretty much hell for a couple months. then it cleared me completely, it was amazing. sooo yea about 3 years later...which is NOW...my acne is back...grrr! i thought i was over that stage of my life. and yea ive been back on tazorac for almost a month and i can tell its working but my skin still looks gross. my dermatologist never told me i should stay on the med once its healed. how long do they expect you to stay on it for!? life? i hate this. grrrr.

I had severe acne and was put on Accutane for a year (the best thing ever). Once my skin had completely cleared out by the end of the treatment, my doctor put me on Tanzorac and Clivelexyl gel. I was clear for a year and half. For a couple of months, I couldn't afford the meds while I was in-between health benefit plans and got a few pimples, so I decided to save myself some money and try Proactive (HUGE MISTAKE!!!!!bad idea. Do not do this to yourself)My skin just worsen in a matter of weeks.

You guys have the wrong idea when it comes to acne treatment. Treating acne is a process - a long process. Only 1/2 your acne is visible from the outside, and the rest is all underneath. Good acne treatments address both. Tazorac is a great example of a good acne treatment. Does it hurt like hell if you're like me and apply it every night? Yes. Is it generally expensive? Yes, at $50/100gm bottle. But it's all about the end product, folks. You can't get something for nothing. If you want to have good, long-lasting results, then use tazorac gel. Apply it every other night if each night is too much. I had really bad acne about 4 years ago. I used tazorac and it kept me 100% clear for about 1 year. The results took about 2-3 months to be totally effective. Then, very mild acne came back, and I left it unaddressed for a few years. Now, I'm back on it, but remember - a good acne medication will change your skin's make-up, and having to do an effective regimen 2 or 3 times before it totally wipes you clean of acne, so to speak, is not unusual. Suck it up, stick through the pain. As they say, no pain - no gain.

alot of u stop using the product after only a week and u shouldnt. peeling tightening and redness is suppose to happen for about 2 weeks trust me. i used it with duac 5% gel and in about 2-3 months my skin was amazing almost perfectly clear but then i stopped. so now im just back to using it by itself and i wanna say this is week #2? so far not too much has happened lots of dead skin and lots of brown spots from previous acne..hopefully in about 3 more weeks it should work. its not too bad.

Better avoid this nasty chemical. Our doctor gave my son a few samples to last two weeks. Two days was long enough to discontinue this tortue. My son's face went broke out from this medicine into the worst acne I have ever seen. He washed his face and I saw oose coming from his forehead like a burn victim. I hope it didn't cause perminant damage or scarring. I now have to find something to try and take away the deep frier burn from his face.
