I'm 25 and I just started using Spiro three weeks ago. During the first few days of treatment I felt very lightheaded and drowsy but that has seemed to stop. I also had an upset stomach but I started only taking the pill with a meal and it doesn't bother me anymore. It's that time of the month for me right now and my skin looks awful. I'm really hoping to see results from Spiro, I'm at my breaking point. My Dermatologist told me to give Spiro at least two months and she suggests taking Spiro with birth control (just make sure to let your doctor know that you are on Spiro). I am also using Retin-A and Clindagel so something has to work, right? I feel like the older I get the worse it's becoming. Oh, and just a word of warning: If you have ever considered Proactiv Solution I would strongly suggest seeing a Dermatologist first. I was devistated by the results that I saw from the product. My skin burned and broke out in large, painful cysts all over my chin. I talked to my doctor about it and she said that Proactiv is not recommended. I'll check back in after two months and leave more feedback. Good luck!

I'm in my 30's and developed cystic acne 2 yrs ago. after failiing with differin, antibiotics, and expensive facials I was put on spiro 25 mg 2x's a day. About 2 weeks in I was having no new breakouts! But then Around my period I broke out something awful. I have been on the spiro for 26 days now. My Dr. just upped the dosage to 100 mg per day.
So, I'm curious if anyone has been in the same boat, and what there results were at this dosage/ time. Also, I seem to a bit of an upset stomach with spiro, anyone else?

I have had acne since I was around 12 years old. I was put on accutane for 6 months during high school and it worked wonders! However, it came back now that I am a junior in college, and it is worse than EVER! What is most depressing is the gross amount of oil secrection! If i try to wear make up it just ends up greasing off, therefore all my ance is seen!!! I started a week ago on SPIRO, and have not seen a difference....I am only on 25mg two times a day.....my doctor will NOT raise my mg's to 50 or 75. What are you guys using along with the SPIRO to help your oil and ance????? HELP!!!

I'm a 38 year old woman. Just when the medicine started to make my skin clear up (about two months into my 50 mg per day prescription) I started to get horrible headaches. No amount of water or ibuprofin would make them go away so I had to stop taking it. I haven't had a headache since.

I took Accutane 10 years ago and had great results with my skin that lasted over three years. I developed stomach problems though and am quite sure it was because of the Accutane so I don't want to try that again.

I'm doing monthy chemical peels with moderate results and am adding monthly Smoothbeam next week. I'm keeping my fingers crossed...again.

I've been on Spironolactone for about 2 months and have seen great results. I get a very small zit every once in a while, but I used to get a couple new zits every other day. My skin is a lot less oily and the only side effect I have had is that my menstral cycle is more irregular than it used to be. I'm on 25mg twice a day. I highly recommend it!

Well im back again! Just for your girls cause I feel your pain.

So far so good here is the outcome...

8 after 4 weeks (2 more than last week)
4 after 5 weeks...

So far five weeks and im down from 28 to 4... woooohooo!!

Not much else to report, everything is going fine, no side effects just the peeing a little more still but I guess that wont stop but who cares my skin is clear.

I suggest Anyia to take a higher dosage than 25mg, my skin is still not 100% but 90% after taking 100mg...

Im thinking of trying 150mg as I cannot see any side effects, but ill wait until three months or so to see the outcome.

Good luck girls. :-)

Well im back and its now been three weeks since I have been on this wonder drug!!

My last post is just under this one so read that first!

28 spots Before I started
20 after 1 week
17 after 2 weeks
6 after three weeks

It is now half way through my 4th weeks and I have 4 to go!!

During half way through week three I had 0 but then I got my period and I broke out a little, but seriously nothing like ever before. I feel so much more confident now, Im not trying to cover my face up with make up or just tell people I dont want to go out cause im sick to hide from people so they wont see my face.

Im 26 and have been suffering from Acne since I was 15 so its been a long process of trying everything. This is my life saviour, I seriously recommend it. Have had no side effects either. A little peeing more than usual but thats it, skin is fine.

Well ill be back after a few more weeks to give you an update.

Well ive been on Sprio for one week and from 28 pimples to 20 in the first week. My skin is still bad but will keep trying this for a few months. Ill be back in some more weeks time to tell you how many pimples I have left!! I hope this works. Im on 100mg day and have tried Retin-A, loads of the antibiotics like ??cyclin ones. Also had lazer done, been on Yasmin and Diane birth control pills also. So ive tried pretty much everything except Accutane. If this does not work after six months im going to get accutane, I think, maybe im too scared! Will be back in a few weeks to let you know how im going. One side effect is I feel my sleeping is not very good it keeps me more awake, but thats probably good cause im usually so tired! Be back soon.
