Bottom line I have been on tetracyclin, retin-a, i've tried pro active, wash my face everyday... and these stupid whiteheads don't go away. I was loosing hope!!! I went to the derm again, and he gave me this stuff. I've been using it for three days and my face is significantly clearer!! All the acne is drying up, even those annoying little whiteheads. The great thing about it is that it doesn't dry or irritate your face like retinoinds, and it has a tint that blends into your skin and actually covers up red marks. Great product, I recommend it to anyone, I didn't pay anything because I have insurance but the generic is like sixty dollars or something!!!

Pros Sulfacet-R works great for acne and is a topical antibiotic. I have used it for many years but it is very expensive without a prescription.
Cons Expense is about $75.00 without a prescription
Bottom line I do not currently have any insurance and need this product for my skin. Is there any way I can buy Sulfacet-R literally without a prescription? I don't understand why the FDA will now allow this topical solution without a prescription. It is not a controlled substance by any means, and I use it as a foundation because it comes with a color blend tube so that you can choose your desired skin color.

Pros Easy to apply! Goes on clear and dries right away. You don't need much.
Cons One more medication, but anything that works at this point isn't really a con!
Bottom line Good stuff! I wish I had started this a very long time ago! It works so well. The red spots are disappearing! Two feet from the mirror I can't even tell I even have had bad skin! Oil production is WAY down (but that may be due to the Spiro). Spiro, Yasmin, Sulfacetamide (PM) and Tazorac(AM)....WONDERFUL COMBO!

Pros It doesn't leave your skin feeling tight and red and irritated like Benzoyle Peroxide does. It's really gentle and even tones down the look of red marks. Goes on smooth too.
Cons A LITTLE bit drying the first week, but once my skin adapted to it, it was fine.
Bottom line I am currently using the Canadian version which is Sulfacte - R, so it's a little different from Klaron but generally is the same thing. I have been using it for about 3 weeks now and so far, its a WAY better alternative to BP. BP just made my skin way too red and too dry and irritated. Honestly, I felt like a freak whenever I left my house because of how red and irritated I was. I heard about this stuff on this site and begged my doctor to give me a prescription. So far it has been working fairly well, I still break out but it WAS just my period week, and I usually get a breakout before then. It's helped a lot and since I've only been using it for three weeks and it usually takes about 2 months to see a products full potential,I'm gonna stick on it. so far its the best thing ive used, give it a try if you have mild/somewhat moderate acne.

Pros Smooth clear gel that goes on and dries fast. It also is great substitute for BP. It is a step above BP but not as irratating. It also can be used twice a day with no irratation.
Cons Price, if your insurance doesnt cover it the cost is around 100 USD but with insurance it should be around 20 USD. It also can leave a shiny appearance to the skin when dry, to beat that use a moisturizer.
Bottom line This is a great substitute for going to accutance. I had moderate acne with occasional cysts along my jaw line. This cleared me up in around two to two and a half months. It worked amazingly for around 6-8 months then started to decrease in the potency. I started to get acne again but only mild. I went off it for around two months and went back on it. and a month later I am as clear as I was before. I would highly recommend it to people who are at their last resort. because unlike a lot of the stuff on here it accually works. Dont fool around with stuff like differn or retin-a go to klaron it is safe and mild on the skin and really works. Just try it before you go onto accutane.

Pros Klaron Lotion: It doesn't irritate my sensitive, oily skin. It doesn't feel like a lotion, it dries clear and leaves no residue.
Cons none so far.
Bottom line I spot tested a couple zits and they shrank in 24 hours and are almost gone in 48 hrs. I think this might be a keeper. I have only used it at night for two days, so I am unsure how well it works. There is no irritation though, unlike BP (it left a red line at my jaw and dehydrated and burned my skin severely, even though I only used it once a day) and azealic acid (burned and itched and gave me a rash).

Pros Clears pretty quickly best to use during times you know you'll break out.
Cons expensive, antibiotic absorbs into your bloodstream through your skin. Exposure to anitbiotics create a whole new mess of problems. Which is why are are to treat symptoms rather than cure illness.
Bottom line If anyone here is dealing with serious acne this could help out a bit but I did very well by doing internal cleanses such as parasite cleanse, kidney and liver cleanses for 3 years. Cutting down meat intake and getting protein through cleaner sources such as tofu, veges, vitamins and protein drinks....Tons of water and avoiding chemical exposure. Acne isn't always a hormonal problem or something you eat. It's not always hereditary but the habits you learn from family often are habitual and create the same issues which result in acne. Everyone's perception of what Stress IS vary so much that you have to find out what stress is for you and REDUCE it greatly whatever that may require. I go to Whole Foods for my cleanses and products that help my skin greatly. It's amazing how important a simple CAPSULE multiple vitamin from GNC can do for you granted it's the right one. Cure your illnesses rather than treat symptoms. Good luck, I hope this helps.

Pros Clear, dries fast, doesn't stain clothes. Cleared skin in only 2 weeks.
Cons During 1st week of use, had reaction to it, developed bumps on cheeks, however they went away within another week.
Bottom line Suffered from white heads on back, shoulders and chest for 10 years, this is the first time I have ever had dependably clear skin. I can now wear swimsuits and shirts that showcase my collarbone without worrying. Now I love my skin!

I've been on Klaron for 8 weeks and I have seen no substantial improvement. I was told to give it eight weeks because I have extremelly bad, large painful acne. The only difference I've seen is that the acne postuls are going through their phases exceptionally fast now, but they do keep right on coming. :( Because my acne is so bad, I'm going to try for another 8 weeks. Klaron by far it is the least annoying medication I have tried - however when it dries sometimes it leaves a white crust which can be mighty embarrassing.
