Started using around two weeks ago after a very bad reaction to Azelaic Acid. I don't know if the improvement is because I stopped the Azelaic or started the Klaron. Skin is still pretty red and there are new spots every day. This is the 6th med I've tried for adult acne and I'm hoping it'll work if given the chance. Klaron does not seem as harsh as the others so I can hang in there with it.

Klaron is the best thing I have used so far. For the first three months I had zero acne. However, the effectiveness of Klaron is decreasing each month. The bacteria seem to grow resistant to it over time. I now get pimples every couple of days, however I have not had one cyst since I have been on Klaron.

Before tying Sodium Sulfacetamide, I had been using Retin-A for about 2 years. The Retin-A worked fairly well at clearing up the few small pimples and blackheads that I had. I had a fairly mild case of acne - however I would get an occasion cyst, and Retin-A seemed to do nothing for the cysts. Benzoyl Peroxide seemed to only speed up the cycle of the cysts, but did nothing to prevent them.

The Sodium Sulfacetamide 10% and Sodium 5% lotion PREVENTS CYSTS COMPLETLY! I have not had a single cyst since I started using this stuff a year ago. My face is no longer oily the way it was with Retin-A. The trick to this stuff is simple: USE IT! I have found that as long as I apply it once in the morning and once before bed, I have ZERO outbreaks. As soon as you stop using it religiously, you will find that you will start acne come back. It does smell when you first apply it due to the sulfur content, but you get used to it. Bottom line: This is the cheapest, most effective acne PREVENTION treatment on the market.

I think Klaron is working great. Ive been using it for about 2 months now along with differin and it is amazing. My face is clearing up and i havent been getting any new acne. My face and shoulders are looking alot better and my face looks clear except for some old acne spots that will go away over time. I think this product is great. Ive been seeing a doctor for about 3 or 4 months and he as going to prescribe me Accutane because nothing seemed to work, not even showed any attempt of cleaing up and he didnt want me scarring. But i told him I wanted to give differin one more month before i went onto accutane and he agreed and said hell prescirbe me Klaron also and i think this was the best decision i have ever made. It really works great.

I've been using Klaron gel in the mornings and nights in addition to differin gel at night. I have been using it for about 2 weeks now and its working pretty well. I have extremely sensitive skin so things like benzoyl peroxide etc are way too harsh for me. When I first started it gave me little bumps on my cheeks which is rare for me. It definitely reduced the size of a few bigger ones I had though. The little bumps it caused haven't gotten much better but hopefully its just a temporary reaction from my sensitive skin. This gel has really controlled my face though, and is effective in balancing my skin tone.

Oh yeah and make sure to use a very very thin film because it can be sticky...and you don't want a residue on your face - especially right before you go to bed.

IMPORTANT NOTE: KLARON AND SULFACET R ARE *NOT* THE SAME.

Sulfacet R contains sulfur in addition to sodium sulfacetamide; Klaron contains only the latter. This makes the former tinted and stinky, while the latter is clear and odorless. I don't know whether or to what extent the sulfur makes the former more effective, as I used it for only one day before I switched to Klaron, which, by the way, works great. Unless you're using this medication only at night, sleep alone, and don't mind making your sheets smelly, I suggest Klaron over Sulfacet R.

After spending a fortune and trying everything including differin gel (BP, SA, Sulfur, you name it) I read about sodium sulfacetamide in these comments. I am 26 and have had moderate acne for about 8 years. I finally wanted to end those spots that just moved around my face and the deep red lumps.
I finally went to see the derm and asked if he could prescribe me this drug I read about. I was also using a product with niacinamine. He presribed me a generic version of SS mixed with Sulfur and said the niacinamine was a good choice and to end everything else. He also gave me monocycline. Have been using the sodium sulfacetamide for 2 months and have had 1 real pimple and 2 half-a** ones. Amazing. I stopped taking the antiobiotics after a few weeks because I dont want to develope a tolerance and I still use the niacinamine. Now just waiting for the red splotches from the past year of acne to go away....hopefully on my way to clear skin.

i've been using klaron for about a year now. it worked fairly well at first. my pores were closing up and my breakouts were less frequent. however, it hasn't been working as well over the last few months. my breakouts have been continuous and my skin has been looking pretty awful (well according to me). i guess topical medications just become less effective over time. so i'm in the middle with klaron. oh yeah, it makes you pretty shiny. hate that.

My doctor prescribed Klaron for me a few months ago, and it has sure made a difference. I used to use ProActiv, but it would dry my skin and irritate it, causing my skin to peel and flake(very gross) Klaron cleared up my skin and made it feel smooth! I use dove soap three times a day and klaron in the morning and at night. You have to wait about 20 minutes after putting it on before you put your foundation on, though, and you need to make sure the makeup you use is oil free and noncomodegenic! i love this stuff!

I've been using Klaron for a couple months now and am pleased with it, although it's hard to isolate its effects from the other new stuff I've been trying. My favorite thing is that it doesn't irritate my skin at all but still seems to be working well in my routine. I've tried benzoyl peroxide, Differin and Benzaclin and this is by far the best (although it's a little expensive, $40 with insurance).
