| Pros | None after first treatment. I also had some cortisone injections into the cystic acne, so perhaps they are slightly less inflamed. |
|---|---|
| Cons | Skin is red and tender from treatment and some breakout. The emotional stress of cystic acne probably doesn't help the cure. |
| Bottom line | No acne treatment has ever worked for me longterm. I am now in my mid 30s and have had acne on and off for years. It is now worse than ever with cystic acne on my jawline. This was my last resort as I started a treatment of accutane and was half way through the course when I went to another Dr who said that I shouldn't be on the Accutane for at least 6 months prior to having a baby. Therefore, fingers crossed this works, but I am skeptical. |

| Pros | It has kept my skin clear about 90%. I now only get about 1-2 breakouts during the time of the month compared to consistent breakouts before when i would get about 10-20 pimples on my face at one time. |
|---|---|
| Cons | It is painful and don't expect this to work for red marks or scars. |
| Bottom line | It has worked for me with 3 treatments. My last treatment was a little over 2 months ago. However, I must point out that when I got my first treatment, I decided to begin taking b5 pills again to help with the clearing up of my skin and I felt it would speed up results from my smoothbeam treatments(No, b5 pills did not clear up my skin when taking it alone without smoothbeam). In addition to the 3 smoothbeam treatments I've had, I still take b5 pills at a smaller dose per day and my face is still clear. My doctor charged $150.00 per treatment and do feel it was worth it. My next goal is to get the Vbeam treatments for my red marks from the same doctor at the same price per treatment. |

| Pros | After fourth treatment it cleared my acne totally. My skin was also smoother. |
|---|---|
| Cons | Acne came back after about a month of ending treatment. |
| Bottom line | The result doesn't last for long. If you decide to have follow up treatments you can probably maintain the result. I ended up going on accutane which work miracolously, however soon after going off I became pregnant and got a terrible acne outbreak. I would consider accutane in the future maybe after breastfeeding. I'm thinking of getting the smoothbeam done during pregancy, since this is the only safe and short term effective thing that worked. I'm only dediciding to do it because I don't have many options right now and my skin is really bad. |

| Pros | I am having my third session this week, each 3 weeks apart. I have noticed a big difference. It seems that I am still breaking out a little, but they breakout will last about one or two days, instead of a week. My cysts have decrease tremendously |
|---|---|
| Cons | It hurts like hell. It was a lot more painfull than I imagined. They last time they left the numbing cream on longer and it helped. But it slightly felt like I was getting a tattoo on my face! |
| Bottom line | I can't say how long it will last, but I am very excited I started treatments and am upset I waited so long!I can't wait to see it get better and better as it has been. People are already noticing and my sister with the same problems with her skin went right away and signed up herself! |

| Pros | I also found while I was on the treatments my skin looked great. |
|---|---|
| Cons | doesn't last long |
| Bottom line | It's a very expensive way to temporarily treat acne. I can tell you that it did work for me at first in combination with photo therapy and v-beam treatments. My skin was the best it has been in years for about 3 months, but after about 5 months my skin was back to it's same old tricks. Unfortuneately another product that only worked for a period of time. I guess it was worth it for the short period of time that it worked. I don't know if I'd reccomend it. |

| Pros | when i was actually on the treatment, it seemed to work and there was no down time at all. |
|---|---|
| Cons | now, about 5 months later, my acne's back like nothing ever happened. |
| Bottom line | my doctor probably wasn't the best, and i'm pretty sure i got ripped off bigtime. sit down if you're not already - the way my doctor charged me was 1,000 dollars per treatment ("as part of the procedure, i always do a microdermabrasion before") and i was charged for a numbing cream that i had to use or he wouldn't do the treatment on me. after my fifth of six treatments, he finally "remembered" to say "sometimes, when people don't get as many treatments as they need, it comes back" and apparently that was the case for me. make your doctor isn't a conniving piece of crap before you commit to this. |

| Pros | After six months of treatment, my skin was smoother, and certainly less oily. I was able to wear foundation, alone, and last all day. |
|---|---|
| Cons | After treatments stopped the oil eventually returned. I have to admit that my beauty regimen was more consistent, though, when I was having monthly treatments. |
| Bottom line | Here I go, again. My skin is sensitive, so the pain is pretty intense. I need to be more generous with the Lidocaine before each session. After seeing the price others have paid, I am really grateful to my dermatologist for her reasonable fees. I buy a 4-treatment package for $240 |

| Pros | Didn't work for me. I had hoped it would slow down the oil production. I have extremely oily skin and really thought this might work for me. I can actually watch my oil glands fill up and spill out in my T-zone. |
|---|---|
| Cons | I must have tough skin because my aesthetician used a very high setting (14) on me for 3 sessions (!) one month apart, and I felt very little pain. The redness went away within 15 minutes each time. She asked me if I were on Valium! (No!) |
| Bottom line | My skin has become completely clear and radiant! For me the laser didn't work. But I know that for many people it does--I think I'm an unusual case. However, I HAVE cut out all white stuff and processed food from my diet, now drink 10 glasses of water a day, exercise, take Dr. Sears' pharmateutical grade Omega 3 oil (2 tsp. per day--see his web site) and have started the complete Obagi skin care system, combining the Clenziderm with the Nu-derm products, including tretinoin. I eat well, meditate, and take a high quality multi-vitamin, as well as some other supplements for insulin resistance. I have to say it was worth having the laser treatments to find out about the Obagi skin care system. I found out about the Omega 3 oils and cutting out bad carbs in my diet through my own research. (The price quoted is for 3 sessions of the laser.) |

| Pros | there were no pros! |
|---|---|
| Cons | at the time my acne was not bad, once i had the procedure it made it much worse and caused me to break out severely with cystic acne (which i haven't had since junior high) it caused alot of emotional stress and I ended up having to go on accutane.. |
| Bottom line | it was the worst thing i could have possibly done for my face- thanks to my dermatologist making this recommendation i have had the worst 3 months of my life- with terrible breakouts- nothing positive from this procedure- please do your research before you sign up- a total waste of my money and has caused much damage! |

| Pros | Quick, very little downtime |
|---|---|
| Cons | It hurt! And I was not expecting the swelling as none of the literature mentioned that. I looked lika I had been snapped with 10 rubber bands for a day. From what I can see what everyone else paid I think I overpaid-$800 forVbeam/Smoothbeam combo |
| Bottom line | I am VERY fair so I was worried about redness as a side effect and decided to try my DRs recommendation of v eam/smoothbeam combo to get rid of my old acne scarring (divets) and new acne and purple scars, etc. Mr DR always does these as a combo so I signed up (the fraxel seemed so much more of a "commitment"). It hurt more than I expected (some areas were on a higher setting) but I did feel firmer afterward and didnt look too bad afterward. The rednnes disappeared within 2 hours but then I saw all these lumps on my face that I was not expecting. The RN had given me bionect gel to take the swelling down and it worked. I had this done Friday at noon and my Sat morning I was almost 100% back to normal. It is now Sunday and I feel that my skin is less greasy and a little firmer and more even. But did I overpay? Everyone is saying $300 but I paid $800 (though I had a combo of v-beam and smoothbeam). |
