Pros:Less active acne. Supposed to smooth out scarring
Cons:Expensive. $400 a visit. Luckily my insurance covers SB, so I pay $34 copay per visit.
Bottom Line:I have had 4 treatments done. My insurance will cover 6, so I plan on having the final 2 done in the next month. I am in my late 20's, not much active acne, but scarring from years past. The active acne that was on my face before the first visit is now pretty much gone. The doctor took pictures before my first treatment, and the results so far are definetly noticible. She says she can tell my scars are smoothing out, but it will take a few months after my final treatment before I will really see those results. She said it takes time for the collagen to rebuild? Something to that affect.

Anyways, I was concerned about getting rid of cystic acne. That I occasionally did have problems with. Less as I got older, but none the less it still would happen. I have not gotten any cystic acne since I have begun SB.

The procedure is really only uncomfortable on a few places on my face. It is bearable. They put the numbing cream on. So far, I would recommend SB.

Pros:dries out skin effectively
Cons:too expensive, somewhat painful, did not clear the acne
Bottom Line:I had 7 lasers done over the course of 4 months. the treatment was only a little painful, something that can be tolerated. my dermatologist said my cysts decreased in size, but the majority of my acne is still there.

Pros:19 years old. Worked extremely well, eventually. Reduced amount of oil produced extremely well. Had extremely bad acne, and eventually got all of it.
Cons:I had many cysts and lots of ance, hurt horrible the first 2-3 times (each hurt less). Took a good 2 month to fully get my skin to really slow the acne down. I've had 6,(cost a **** load) 175$ each.
Bottom Line:It worked well. Went roughly, every 2 weeks. Took awhile, and cost a lot, while extremely painful the first few times, however nothing compared to having to wake-up to it everyday and feel horrible. Dont listen to someone reviewing this within 3 months of starting, its takes some time (more for me having horrible skin) to really teach your skin to settle down. In addition, my cysts left scars which caused me to get to chemical peels, however i am sure w/ regular acne, the loss of pimples would not cause scars. If you can afford this, i would definity recomment it.

Bottom Line:Ok, I've had acne since grade school and at the ripe age of 48 only get a pimple from time to time. My present condition is some pretty severe scarring. I made the plunge and had my first SB procedure yesterday. Had the numbing cream applied before the procedure and incurred only mild pain. Procedure took about 15-20 minutes. Used some ice afterwards but only mild reddness was seen and went away within an hour or so. I know it will take time to see any real improvement in my scarring but I'm hopefull. Have my second procedure in 4 weeks and I'm planning on doing at least 5. I will reeport on my progress or lack off after each procedure. My goal is to see a 50-75% improvement. I hope that is not reaching for the stars. Hope everyone finds success in whatever procedure they choose and say a good prayer for me. Best of luck to all, I know how painfull acne can be.

Pros:improves skin tone, reduces pores, long time effect
Cons:does not eliminate breakouts
Bottom Line:I had 4 treatments in combo with V beam, last one occured 3 weeks ago, and I continue seeing a general improvement of my skin tone. My skin was so much damaged by dozen of oral/topical cures such as accutane that I had no hope any more to recover. Now I feel pretty much better, and I plan to comer over my derm within 6 months.

Pros:After just two treatments my skin cleared up for almost a year. It also firmed up my skin and softened fine lines so I looked a bit younger, so I was told. My skin looked and felt great.
Cons:Expensive! I paid $300 a treatment at a high end Santa Monica Derm. Office. I should have continued with the treatments because now I have to start all over again. My skin has become excessively oily again and the break outs are flaring up.
Bottom Line:It works better than any of the other treatments that I have tried, but I will probably have to have treatments every so often for the rest of my life to maintain clear skin. I don't think that it cures acne, but is a very effective temporary treatment. If the price were to come down a bit I probably would be treated more often in spite of the pain.

Pros:In combo with VBeam laser helps with overall skin tone and scar reduction.
Cons:Not covered by insurance
Bottom Line:I paid $1400 for a set of 5 Smoothbeam/VBeam laser treatments, I am now done and can see a huge decreased in my acne scars, redness, pore size, I still breakout a little but I would say this is the best treatment I have used. I tried Accutane and would never recommend it. The treatments do hurt I never used the numbing cream but they last only 20 min. so it is bearable. You have to get at least 4 treatments to start seeing results.

Bottom Line:I had my first Smoothbeam treatment a week & a half ago. I am 41 with mild acne. I decided to try SB to reduce some acne scarring & reduce my pores. I was given numbing cream for my face which I was instructed to put on every 10 minutes for an hour b/f treatment; it worked great & the "pain" was minimal.

My situation now, however, is that I have several hyperpigmentation lines on both sides of my face & some spots as well. They can be pretty much covered with mineral makeup, but what the heck?! I am disapponted with this aspect. My skin does seem somewhat clearer... if you don't look at the lines.

I am scheduled for a 2nd treatment, but am hesitant at this point. Will it make these lines worse? The Deratologist doesn't seem to "see" the lines for some reason (?). But my husband notices them...so I'm not nuts.

Still deciding if treatments will continue....

Pros:none
Cons:-expensive
-painful
-ineffective
Bottom Line:I only went for two treatments before deciding to stop. For one, the treatments are extremely painful. The procedure feels like someone is snapping a rubber band on your face (repeatedly) and in my case, didn't yield results worth $250 per treatment. There are newer technologies available to dermatologists which are more effective. I went for these treatments about four years ago. Save your money.
