Smoothbeam Laser Acne Treatment Reviews

I have moderate acne and skin that is a bit darker/easier-to-tan than the whitest of caucasions. I've gotten 3 rounds of Smoothbeam treatments at Pacific Dermatology outside of Seattle, and I haven't noticed any difference in my acne. I have been one of the unlucky to get post-inflamatory hyperpigmentation, meaning dark spots in little circles from the laser on parts of my face. It's not highly visible, (I was worried that it might look more like blotchy blackface when I was warned of this side effect), but after 3 months from my first treatment, the dark spots are only barely starting to fade. I don't use makeup, but I think that would nearly cover up these spots for those of you ladies who do. I was warned of this, I know that Smoothbeam doesn't work for everyone (especially if your skin isn't extremely pale), but I'm not going to keep trying and just getting dark spots that might take a year to fade. I paid $250 for a full-face treatment, but after getting lots of dark spots on my cheeks, I switched to my t-zone at $150 (less dark spots here, but also no improvements). It would have been worth the price if I had noticed something other than the hyperpigmentation, and I'd still suggest giving it a try to others, since not everything works for everyone.

i had 4 smoothbeam laser treatments. Smoothbeam claims to damage oil glands, and thus, decreasing oil production and acne. I saw absolutely no results. I was also on Aveda, and that made my skin extremely oily and made my acne worse. I wasted about 2 thousand dollars on this worthless treatment.

I have had several...more than 10 smooth beams done with minimal improvement...I spoke with my doctor and was told it does very little for "smoothing scarring" ....I suggest trying things out for yourself tho..somethings work for certain people, this however didn't do as I had hoped. I am currentlty on a waitlist for the Fraxel laser. I personally don't care about the cost, I figure it's worth every penny to have my skin improve. I would rather try to fix it than sit around and feel like crap. I will repost when I have completed my cycle of laser treatments. Apparently the fraxel takes several months after the last treatment to see full results....hope it works!

I am 38 years old and have been suffering from acne since I was 11 years old. Through the years, I've tried many treatments and have only been frustrated time and time again. With the exception of Accutane, nothing has ever been even moderately effective.
The severity of my acne has varied over the years, probably mostly related to hormones but I have never been acne free after the age of 11. Never. As a result, I have moderate scarring.
I am now getting Smoothbeam treatments every two weeks but, considering I have just come off of a two year treatment of low dose Accutane, the results are yet to be seen. I have had 3 treatments so far and am scheduled for three more. I have not experience any new breakouts caused by or directly resulted from the Sbeam. The mild redness fades in hours, feels only like a mild sunburn once the topical anesthetic wears off. I, personally have not seen any improvements in my skin yet but was told that I probably won't until after the fourth treatment. My realistic side doesn't think it'll do much for the more stubborn acne but I am hopeful it will help with the scarring. It is also very expensive at $250 a session. It's too bad it's not covered by insurance! But considering that I am looking into photodynamic therapy and/or Thermage,which are far more expensive, it's not as bad as it could be. 10 years ago, though, I would have never been able to afford it.
Personally, I find low dose Accutane treatment far more effective.

I went through 4 treatments of smoothbeam and for a couple and i began to see very little results by the 3rd treatment. After i did my last treatment my docter said i would see full results in a couple of months... i did see some but then my acne came back even worse a few months later with more scars. I dont recommend this treatment, it is rediculously priced and kind of painful and doesnt work.

I've had two treatments with the Aramis laser. It's painless except where I have scarring and then it feels like a tiny hot pin prick. I haven't had any new breakouts (so far). I tried Accutane over ten years ago and it was the best thing ever. I would go back to that but I'm going to see what the results are when I'm done with the laser treatments. Microdermasion and chemical peels also worked for me.

I just had my first smoothbeam treatment about 2 hours ago....I used a numbing cream but it only numbed my face slightly. Level 14 was used and the pain was minimal around the cheeks (i only had cheeks and chin done). But the area where I have a lot of scars and acne hurt a lot and my chin was the most painful. It really hurt there....the procedure was done in about ten minutes. I was told that acne would improve but the red marks would not be helped by the machine. Also it was suggested that I have microdermbrasion two weeks after my smoothbeam treatments....i'm going to wait to see how my skin reacts to this first treatment.

I am a smoothbeam laser technician and I use smoothbeam for my acne. It has been a godsend. My face has never looked better. But if you are getting blisters or burnt with the smoothbeam you need to find a new practitioner. There should be redness that lasts a few hours but by the next day it should be pretty much gone. It is normal to have a few small round spots if the power is high But if there are blisters the cryogen is too low or the laser is not aligned

Ok Guys, I have had my first treatment. It hurt like hell. One week later and I can honestly say I can't wait until my next visit. The doctor also put me on Duac gel. Great stuff, it works better than Retin-A Micro. Also, Skinceuticals clarifying lotion. I am 35 years old and have had this since I was twelve. My acne is the kind that ranges from large hard cyst to small white bumps. I have tried it all. If this doesn't work I will try something else. But for now I am hopeful to the SBeam. i have had five smoothbeam treatments and three vbeam treatments. The first two times i got the smoothbeam it did indeed irritate my skin but immediately noticed i stopped getting the large deep breakouts that were doing most of my scarring. after the fourth my breakouts are mild and dont bother me so much compared to the years of nothing working. as far as ice pick scarring the smoothbeam got rid of nearly all of them and the bigger shallower ones get better each time. i am extremely pleased with the results and only wish i found it sooner, it is pretty unpleasant the first couple times though untill you get used to it, exactly like snapping a rubber band on your face about two hundred times and the numbing cream is worthless so save your money an skip it. i just try to stay loose and breathe. the results for the vbeam are nearly instant, it was such a drastic improvement. fades the redness of scars by the morning after the procedure and each time completely visible results, doesnt do much but get rid of redness but when scars arent red they are a loooot less noticeable. as far as price yea it can be expensive i lucked out and found a doctor who actually did it for me for fifty dollars a treatment but i dont think anyone will find it for less than a hundred to three hundred dollars per treatment, all i can say is it is definately worth going and talking to someone who offers the lasers.
