The smoothbeam laser worked somewhat for me ($350/treatment). I've had 3 treatments and the scars have smoothed out ~15-20% only. The first nurse who did it missed spots!! But now a better nurse is doing it thank god. The procedure hurts a lot. I am unsure at how much it can help acne. It doesn't seem to reduce oiliness that much after 3 treatments. I'll have to post again after 4-5. I never experienced dark circles. The redness went down after 10 minutes.

I've had two Smoothbeam Laser Acne Treatments and have not seen any results. In fact my last treatment was on Monday and I seem to be breaking out even more. I also do the Microdermabrasion in between the Laser. That seemed to help clear up my skin, but a week after that it started breaking out again. I bought a package for $1500 which included 4 Smoothbeam Treatments and 6 Microdermabrasion treatments. I'm thinking it's got to be Hormones. I did try Accutane about 14 years ago and that really worked! I would try it again but now I'm 35 years old and a little concerned about side affects. Oh well, I guess I will continue the SB teatments and Micro and see what happens.

Are injections better than smoothbeam. The difference in satisfaction is hard to get a good read on.

I am 42 years old and had virtually no acne as a teen. My dermatologist says my new acne and consequent scarring are due to hormones. (See what you get to look forward to youngsters?! lol). I have dark, but not pitted, scarring all around my jawline due to these hormone zits. I have had 3 laser treatments, and I must admit they are working. I didn't see any results until after the 3rd visit. The doctor said this was because they have to build up the strength of the laser each time. I have noticed my scarring is lighter, and if I get a pimple it is just small and doesn't scar. I haven't had any cystic type acne since my 3rd treatment around 3 wks ago. I am going to try 3 more treatments, then I will give a final report. So far so good. (fingers crossed!)As far as pain goes. They use a cooling type spray with each zap. It kinda feels like getting flipped with a rubber band. Buck up and take the discomfort. It's worth it. :)Also, try a dermatologist instead of a laser clinic. My insurance is covering my treatments. I only have to pay $25 each.

I opted for Smoothbeam for acne scars, large pores and mild acne. I had one treatment and saw ZERO results. Nothing, zip, zilch - I should have spent $3 on a grocery store peel-off mask instead! At $425 per treatment, there is no way I'm returning for 6-7 more that the aesthetician recommended. What a waste of money! I've had microdermabrasion before and saw results immediately. This was THE most dissapointing thing I've ever spent money on!

I've just had about 8 treatments done, the pain was totally fine, you could feel it, but since I was light skinned, (your skin doesn't absorb light if you're white) It didn't hurt at all, my doctor put Ice on the areas before the treatment, which really numbed the pain, so there was none, I'm currently over with the treatment, but on the side I'm using a topical cream, it's better, not dramatically, at least not for now, but I have seen some mild results, and I haven't been getting any new pimples, so far, not bad, I'm coming up to two months since the first treatment.

This procedure is worthless. I spent a lot of money and wound up with nothing but dark circles on my skin, and these scars have not faded in 1.5 years.

I wish I had seen this message board before I spent hundreds of dollars on this procedure.

i had my first smoothbeam on Friday...and today, Saturday, I am very annoyed at the fact that I got it...my face stings, it is red, and somewhat splotchy...i also have a small dark circle near my cheek which i don't think i had before...my skin seems really dry. i am in my 30s and have had acne most of my adult life, been on several accutane courses, and nothing works well...things have been somewhat under control...have been on tazorac and an antibiotic and i decided on smoothbeam just to see if things could get better, but not yet...maybe i am impatient, but i look kind of silly at the moment...will report back down the road. i went to one of the top centers in nyc and paid $600...feeling kind of ripped off at the moment.
