| Bottom line | Sage's whole skincare line is amazing, it's the only thing that cleared up my skin and KEPT it that way! p.s. If your skin turns red/tingles from this mask, put a bit of Sage Old Lady Cream under it, it will protect from redness without changing results |

I'm a woman in mid-30's who has had acne since early 20's. It is under control now thanks to finding what works for me and sticking to it. But I still have to battle very oily skin and very large pores. This clay based mask contains no pore-clogging or irritating ingredients. It is made for - and give excellent results - oily and acne prone skin. It unclogs pores and really makes them look smaller. It seems to cut down on oil production for a day or two. My skin looks fresh, soft, smaller pores.
I use this once a week (instructions say between 1 and 3 times a week depending on season [humidity] and your skin type) My skin looks great (smaller pores, less oil) for 3 to 4 days. And the mask, while it doesn't impact acne in terms of making acne disappear - it does NOT cause acne. So I get the benefits of a clay mask without getting new acne.
DRAWBACKS are price (it is $40 for 4 oz, which lasts for only a couple of months - you have to apply it as directed THICK in order to get the best benefit) Another drawback - if you try to or accidently apply less and don't have it on thick, it can irritate and leave your skin a little red. My skin is very sensitive (in addition to my other problems) and so I sometimes have a little redness after using this - although my skin looks and feels great otherwise - and looks HEAVENLY the next day. So I put it on at night, or on a Sunday when I'm staying in and then I look great for the next week. Another drawback: It is also a bit of a hassle to apply. You have to put it on thick and wait 15 minutes and then use a cool clean washcloth to gently remove. In other words it is a half hour total commitment to get this stuff on, wait and get it off. It is a thick, goopy mask so you can't really do much else.
If you have sensitive, very oily skin with large pores and want a clay mask to take care of this but worry about masks that might aggravate your acne (Mint Julep mask made me worse!) and if you can stomach the price and the hassle, I highly recommend the Sage Skin Care Biological Redefining Mask.

This mask by Sage is excellent for oily acne prone skin. It definitely aids in clearing acne including stubborn cystic acne. It is a bit strong(kinda tingly on my tough skin) so it is not recommended for people with very sensitive skin. When used 1-3x a week, I find it keeps breakouts at bay. I just wish it came in a tube(it comes in a small tub jar) and that it was a lot less expensive. It's rather pricey.

My skin breaks out with any hint of irritating ingredients - so believe me I have to use this brand. I find that using it is a complete difference to any other mask out there...no tighness, painful stinking, or waiting to see results. If used EXACTLY as directed - even how gently you cleanse your skin first matters - this mask keeps the skin looking amazing!
The price, well other than the time I spent over $130 on a small bottle of "phyto-junk" Sage is incredibly expensive on my income....I really pinch every penny to afford the products because I lived a life of horrible skin and I refuse to go back!!
The consistency is always the same. I don't mind the jars so much because I scrap the container clean! The fragrance is a bit cosmetic-esk...so no frangrance would be good, but I still don't mind as long as it has never irritated me.
Sage products are awesome!
