Worked for my cousin so I thought to try it out. After using soo many other products, the smell from Proactiv's products didn't feign me. I did see slight improvement but I can honestly say it not just because of proactiv. If you constantly wash, tone and condition your face, with any product, it will help. And in the information book they say that too. Eating right, sleeping properly and lots of water is just as effective. The cost is way too much comparing to other effect products. Honestly, bottom line to getting a clear face is: 1) wash with a gentle GENTLE face cleanser twice a day. Proactiv's is way too medicated. I use cetaphil. 2) Tone only if you have oily skin, otherwise its too much. 3) Use benzoyl peroxide, which is in the face cream for proactiv which I actually like using. This is the only thing I like from the line of products. Alone, benzoyl peroxide is very strong and very drying. It will bleach fabric, so think of what it does to your face! But mixed in with face cream, its awesome and not over drying.

I used Proactive for 5 years and it gradually stopped working. I was then told they offer a higher potency product you can use, but I figured I would see what else is available fearing the high potency product would eventually fail. Since quiting Proactive my skin is EXTREMELY oily! And is breaking out like never before! I have now ordered murad which I hope will bring some result! I have taken everything from accutane to steriods to clear my acne! It is extremely frustrating and disapointing when you spend hundreds of $$$ on products and still have no result. I am looking forward to finding some way to manage my acne.

Great, but stopped working a couple of weeks later. Acnefree is a better alternative.

The first week I used proactive my face brakeout but I sticked to the regimen and later on my face cleared up. However, during summer my face would look so oily that i had to buy proactive's oil controling gel but this didn't help, it only irritated my face. After using proactive for 3 years I stopped because I suddenly began to experience extremely dry AND oily face (weird uh?, but true) My face, even tough it looked very oily felt so dry, that I even got premature wrinkles around my mouth. I used oil free lotion to try to help this, but it didn't help. Plus my skin started to breakout again. It seemed as if my skin became used to the product so my pimples came back, and not only that but I started to get cysts (I think I got them because my skin was so irritated and dry).
It is true it helps to get rid of pimples and etc, for some time but then it stops working (for me at least).

the cleanser: the first cleanser I got had a weird milky texture that seems to be good to exfoliate. However, they changed it later on, and now the cleanser seems to be more soft and has less esfoliating properties.
the toner: is not irritating and doens't smell alcohol-like.
the reparing lotion: it doens't leave that white trace on your face as other 2.5 benzoyl lotions do, however it does makes your face shiny or as other fancy people might say "glow".

The system works for some time, but then it seems to stop working. Plus it seems to make your skin get premature wrinkles.
Oh, and in summer, if you have oily skin, your skin will look SO OILY that you'll have to be blotting your face several times a day.

Ok, all you people saying that proactiv sucks, you are all crazy. I've been using proactiv for almost 6 years now, and I haven't had not the first breakout ever since. My face used to be covered in zits... I never had severe acne, but I had alot of zits, minus the redness and all-over swelling. Proactiv will tell you that it isn't a miracle product, that it only helps start acne before it starts. All of you that are downing it, I can tell you that (a) you weren't consistant with it (b) that you probably have very oily skin and never drink water, or (b) you're picking at your face way too much. I would never pay for perscription acne medicine that dries your face all out, plus the expense of the doctor visit... For all you people that don't have clear skin, and have tried proactiv, you're definantly not doing something right... I tried the dermatologist, over the counter medicines, every kind of facewash you can think of, nothing ever worked. My skin has been zit free for years now, but only because I take care of it. I use proactiv everyday, twice a day, and ALWAYS apply sunscreen before I go outside, because if you dont, your face will continue to look worse. Benzol peroxide makes your skin very sensitive to sunlight. I drink plently of water to keep the oil dilluted in my skin, which is another think that causes breakouts. Your skin needs a certain amount of water to cleanse your pores so that they can breathe. If something happens that I get a pimple or a zit, I don't pop it. That is the absolute worst thing you can do, as false as it may seem, but when you pop your zits, your actually damaging sensitive skin tissue, and forcing oil and dirt deeper down into your pores, which will just cause more zits. Theres alot more to having clear skin than just going out and buying proactiv, accutane, etc. You gotta learn the do's and don'ts also, and that's where all of you are messing up!

Proactive works great. At first, it causes breakouts (My doctor said it was because the ingredients caused it to speed up the breakout process for the acne that was almost in its final stages) ... after about 2 weeks, it really started working because I realized how less oily and more soft my skin was. My skin has cleared up 100%!!

I love this product.

I have used proactiv for a few weeks and have not found a good result at all teh first week it did ok but other than that it was shocking i was really hoping that this would of cured my acne because i had such bad self esteem after trying so hard to convince my parents i finally got it. Now i am bitterly disappointed and wanted to try the other product called eXposed but it will be difficult to convince my parents again. THANKS A LOT PROACTIV. NOT
