I asked my dermatologist about Proactive, and he said I can use the brand "Aqua Glycolic." He said it's basically the same except cheaper b/c you can buy it at your local drug store. It is probably located in the pharmacy, so ask them for the products. I just bought the cleanser, and it was around $12.

I bought this product because I was embarrassed of my acne. After I started using it, I was embarassed of BOTH my acne and EXTREMELY DRY SKIN. The skin on my face would flake off even after applying the Proactiv moisturizer very liberally. The moisturizer would literally burn my skin on contact when applied over the acne medication (as directed). I have been using Proactiv for about a month now and I noticed that my acne became worse. I think this may have to do with my skin adjusting to the product. I will give it about two more weeks before I quit.

To the people that have only used the product for a week or two and are deciding it "sucks" really shouldn't be listened to. Acne is something that does NOT go away overnight and like all things, sometimes it needs to get worse before it gets better. There is a reason they tell you to use the product for at least a month before you judge on its effectiveness.

Anyone that expects immediate results is not being very intelligent.

Also -- if you actually read the instructions, they tell you to test the product on your skin first. They tell you that if it makes your skin break out, do NOT use it everyday. This product IS gentle, but not everyone is the same. There is NO product that is going to be perfect for everyone. Realize that before you start complaining.

Myself, my skin is very sensitive. Things the dermatologist have given me are much harsher than any of these products. I've gone to the dermatologist for many years -- nothing given to me there has worked as well as Proactiv. My doctor knows this is what I use now and she thinks it's great. And remember -- the makers of this product are .. dermatologists. Someone called this a scam. Well, you know what? If you think it's a scam, just don't buy it! It really is that simple.

I think that the trick is consistency. I have extremely oily skin so it does not dry out my skin. My acne did get worse before it got better. Try the Advanced Blemish Treatment along with the 3 piecs kit and the mask. It really works!!

After reading these comments im really doubting the product. My mom ordered me some a few days ago, and i've been really excited to receive it. My acne's not really bad, its consistant but can mostly be covered up. I'm 16 and have had zits since I was 11 or 12 im sick of it! I'm still hopeful, though extremly disappoited that the product hasn't help most of the people using it. I'll be sure to letcha kno what I think about proactiv when I receive it in a few weeks :)

Proactive does not work.
Go see a doctor and get perscription pills and topical applications. such as sulfameth, minocycline, and retinamicro.
these are products that will work, not scams like Proactive.

I have tried the Proactiv Solution about 3 years ago. I found that it really did work and within a week I had confidence to actually go out in public with no make-up. That's something I haven't been able to do in a really long time. However, I did find it a bit pricey and stopped purchasing the product. Even after I gave up using Proactiv, my acne wasn't as bad as it was before. A friend of mine also have tried the product but she didn't have the same results as I did. After a while using Proactiv, she found that the acne was returning and gave up using the product. I guess everyone has different reactions to certain products. I'm glad I tried it. I still would like to use Proactiv if it wasn't so expensive.

I used it for about three weeks and so little change in my skin. I decided to discontinue using Proactiv and now my face looks worse than it did before I started using the product. Would not recommend this product.
