proactiv was working for about 3 months afterwards it made my skin dry out like a raisin. not only that but i have dark patches on my face where it burned my skin. and this so called 'amazing' product severly dried out my skin. i look like i'm aging prematurely. people PLEASE be aware not everything that you see on tv and being endorsed by famous faces means that it's a good product!!!!!!!!!!!! BE AWARE AND ALERT of what you put on your face. The renewing cleanser and the lotion contain too much benzoly peroxide. The "stanford graduated doctors" that invented this product should know better, too much benzoyl peroxide can damage your skin.

Proactiv worked for the first two years of using it, after that it stopped working for me and seemed to aggravate my skin, causing more breakouts and patches of dryness. I think their price is to high.

I've tried everything under the sun for my acne, whether it was a topical treatment or a mild oral antibiotic. Although it isn't terribly severe, the pain and discomfort of the breakouts, as well as how bad it looks, was enough for me to try roaccutane (or accutane as I think it's called in the States).
As numerous people have said already, proactiv is just another product that you could buy off the shelf at your local supermarket for half the price. It contains the same ingredients as products such as clearasil. I have used products with the leading ingredient, benozyl peroxide, and have found that my skin became extremely itchy, red and flaky. My suggestion: SAVE YOUR MONEY, and if your acne is quite severe, talk to your dermatologist about accutane/roaccutane. Sure, you don't get immediate results, but after 2 months of being on it I'm starting to see the benefits. Do not think that you will get all the side-effects listed either. The only major side-effect I've had is quite dry and flaky skin, which can be easily fixed with cetaphil moisturiser. I only need to wash my hair once a week too which is great, because it gets so dry! But all this is worth it in the long run, if it means my skin will be under control. Also, I'm not sure what other health systems are like in other countries, but here in Australia you can purchase roaccutane for a substantially reduced rate with a health care card. One box, containing 60 tablets, costs around 7 bucks...bargain.
Products such as proactiv, and all the others like it out there, are quick fix solutions which do not seem to offer any long term benefit. Often they seem to do more harm than good.

I'm 40 and still have acne before trying this product,i had never tried any product for my acne.I still do get few pimples on and off,but never as i used to;when i get pimples whether small or big,this podruct can not control ,the pimple takes control of my skin and when it is over,i get blacheads which proactive has proved to be uneffective with. Because besides blackheads i face another problem.i have hyperpigmatation conditon so you can figurate.

Proactiv did so much more for my acne skin than any other brand. I've tried Dermalogica, Murad, NeoStrata..nothing worked. With Proactiv, I finally have acne free skin.

I used to get huge acne on my chin and since I've been using this product (18 mos.) I have had ZERO breakouts! My son who is 15 also uses it and his acne is slowly going away. It did dry my skin out so I confined the area that I use it on to my chin and no longer worry about dry skin. This product is worth the money and I will never use anything else on my face.

This product just didn't work for me. I don't consider my acne severe. It's hormonal, it pops up several times a month. Proactiv was not the solution I hoped it would be. It did not take care of my acne.

This product is ok. The problem is it does not clear your skin on your face, to tell you the truth it makes it even worser but it totally works well on your back. If your bellow 15 years old I suggest you dont use this product on your face because it will totally dry your skin out,but use it on your back it totaly works. But I just dont appreciate the fact that they said that it will not cause any irritation or redness which was so untrue!!!! My advice to you is to not believe every thing you see on tv.

This product sucks because it makes my skin dry and my it also flacks off, the pimples will turn into black head which is harder to deal and now i have blackheads all over my face making it worse

My skin cleared up immediately but my skin built up a tolerance for it and it just didn't work anymore. Also it never made my skin perfectly clear it just took away the larger breakouts
