This product is great. But I heard that Proactiv is shutting down across Canada or something. My friend works at one of the Proactiv Carts at the mall, and she told me that due to legal issues, Proactiv is shutting down. Does anyone know if this is true?

I used Proactiv for months a year or so ago, and all it did was make me break out even worse. Yes, I'm probably allergic but I've never been allergic to any other acne treatment. I tried it again for a while ending a couple months ago and the same thing.

I do not recommend wasting your money on this. The only reason I used it for so long was that it was given to me, and I didn't have the money to go get Neutrogena On The Spot.

Proactiv works. It's benzoyl peroxide, everyone. You can't cake it on your face. It's gloopy and it's overdrying your skin because you're using way too much of it. Use it in moderation!

At first, I also used too much. I found it hard to massage into my skin. And, I ended up with very dry, red, and flaking skin. Now, I apply a dot smaller than a pencil eraser on my face twice a day. No overdrying. No peeling or flaking. No glooping. NO ACNE! Because I use so little of the product now, it lasts longer. One $39.95 3-piece kit has lasted me over 4 months. That's less than $10 a month!

I use the cleanser in the morning. I follow with a dot of repairing lotion and a dot of the sunscreen lotion. Then I apply my make-up. In the evening, I wash my face without Proactiv solution, and then follow with the Proactiv toner to make sure all my make-up is off. I apply another dot of repairing lotion and a dot of regular lotion. I do the same thing every day. I haven't had a breakout since, my pockets aren't empty, and my skin looks better than ever.

I've tried at least three 2.5% benzoyl peroxide products and found them similar in effectiveness: helpful but not sufficient. (I haven't yet tried the massive quantities recommended in Dan's Regimen, so will wait to try that before posting a full review of Dan's product.) Proactiv's texture is not as good as Neutrogena or Dan's, both of which are less expensive. I don't see how anyone could use Proactiv lotion in Regimen quantities because the lotion is so gloopy and is difficult for the skin to absorb even at normal quantities. Proactiv relies more on marketing than effectiveness: they say their 3-step system will solve your problem, then they send you a whole catalog of more overpriced things you need to buy. I had 5 products altogether. The system helped for a while but then stopped helping, as others have reported; I do not recommend it at all. The materials were short on instruction, long on advertising. Their "Club" also tries to subscribe you for more product than anyone could use. The system stopped helping sometime after the money-back guarantee expired, and my skin took months to recover from the harsh cleanser. Among 2.5% benzoyl peroxide products specifically, I suggest either Dan's or Neutrogena, definitely not Proactiv.

This product has worked wonders on my skin, as well.

but after time, I decided to find and easier way instead of having to use my credit card and find an over the counter product to use.

I now use panoxyl cleansing bar with 5% bezoyl peroxide, and benzac W 10 cream for after at night time.

This treatment works even BETTER than proactiv, and it's MUCH cheaper, and comes in much LARGER packages.

PLEASE TRY THIS. IT WORKED SO WELL FOR ME, AND I HAD EXTREMLY BAD ACNE BEFORE.

here's a site to look at for products with bezoyl peroxide.

I love this stuff, it costs plenty, but it works great. It shrinks pimples over night.

Do not like at all. Feels terrible on my skin, gloopy and nasty. I can't wait for the bottle to run out ...

I was excited for proactiv. REALLY EXCITED. I thought it would work wonders and my skin would FINALLY BE CLEAR after aving acne since I was. But, not surprisingly I was wrong. Basically, it just doesn't do anything, especially for the miracle they promise on TV, and it's kind of expensive. Not REALLY, but kind of. It didn't dry me out, but it also didn't work, so...I'm unhappy with it. My dermatologist said that most of her patients, not unlike me, tried proactiv and were dissapointed with the results. She said that it does work for some people, but not for long. I thought it was working for a while, but it was wishful thinking. Use Clearasil products instead...much better.

I've used Proactiv Solutions for several years and it has greatly made a difference on my skin and overall complexion. However, it is a bit drying and can cause itchiness.

I started using it during the summer when I was 15. Since grade 7 I've had horrible acne on my forehead (I thank god my cheeks always stayed clear) and I'm sure lots of people here know that having acne is very damaging to one's self-confidence, etc. especially for someone just hitting puberty and physical appearance becomes even more important. My mother got me to try a lot of different products, and none of them worked. We even resorted to Chinese herbal medicine that tasted like sewer water (not that it had any helpful effect either)
My brother and I saw a ProActive infomercial on TV and got my mom to order one for us. The most significant change occured in the next month. Within three weeks, my forehead was clear. I still had scars and blemishes, but at least I wasn't dotted with pulsing red spots all over my forehead anymore. I continued to use it and although at times it dried out my skin, it isn't something some moisturizer won't fix. I'm 17 now and I only break out once in awhile, but they're always small. I still use ProActiv nowadays, though probably not as regularly as I should.
