This stuff is no different than crack. You know its not doing you any good, but you're so desperate that you can't help the urge to come back for more. If I had to choose one product from this line, it would be the repairing lotion. The glycolic toner works well with occasional use, while regular use just makes my skin scabby. The cleanser irritates my skin with what they call "finely milled benzoyl peroxide". Really, it's small particles of plastic. Overall, I'd say its a DON'T!

proactiv solution completely cleared up my skin for about a week and then it got worse so i immediately discontinued my use. While using proactiv, my skin felt so dry in the morning, but in the afternoon it would be so oily. My skin never felt "right". I have since then switched to a new regiment which makes my skin feel great and it cleared up all of the acne that proactiv left behind. I use a 2% salicylic acid cleanser, then I use a Shiseido toner..and then i use a very small sized (less than pea sized) of the proactiv 2.5% repairing lotions and then i moisturize with shisiedo moisturizer. My skin feels great again, try it! I know dan says that a combination of salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide is irritating, but it doesnt irritate my skin.

Honestly, ProActive Solution is ALOMST A SCAM. Please do not use the face wash, toner and cream. It did not clear my face it made more pimples that tuned into gross black heads.
Don't let this disencourage you to just use the cream. I wish all 'yall good luck and happy healing with the Clear Skin regimen!

This product is great. But I heard that Proactiv is shutting down across Canada or something. My friend works at one of the Proactiv Carts at the mall, and she told me that due to legal issues, Proactiv is shutting down. Does anyone know if this is true?

I used Proactiv for months a year or so ago, and all it did was make me break out even worse. Yes, I'm probably allergic but I've never been allergic to any other acne treatment. I tried it again for a while ending a couple months ago and the same thing.
I do not recommend wasting your money on this. The only reason I used it for so long was that it was given to me, and I didn't have the money to go get Neutrogena On The Spot.

Proactiv works. It's benzoyl peroxide, everyone. You can't cake it on your face. It's gloopy and it's overdrying your skin because you're using way too much of it. Use it in moderation!
At first, I also used too much. I found it hard to massage into my skin. And, I ended up with very dry, red, and flaking skin. Now, I apply a dot smaller than a pencil eraser on my face twice a day. No overdrying. No peeling or flaking. No glooping. NO ACNE! Because I use so little of the product now, it lasts longer. One $39.95 3-piece kit has lasted me over 4 months. That's less than $10 a month!
I use the cleanser in the morning. I follow with a dot of repairing lotion and a dot of the sunscreen lotion. Then I apply my make-up. In the evening, I wash my face without Proactiv solution, and then follow with the Proactiv toner to make sure all my make-up is off. I apply another dot of repairing lotion and a dot of regular lotion. I do the same thing every day. I haven't had a breakout since, my pockets aren't empty, and my skin looks better than ever.

I've tried at least three 2.5% benzoyl peroxide products and found them similar in effectiveness: helpful but not sufficient. (I haven't yet tried the massive quantities recommended in Dan's Regimen, so will wait to try that before posting a full review of Dan's product.) Proactiv's texture is not as good as Neutrogena or Dan's, both of which are less expensive. I don't see how anyone could use Proactiv lotion in Regimen quantities because the lotion is so gloopy and is difficult for the skin to absorb even at normal quantities. Proactiv relies more on marketing than effectiveness: they say their 3-step system will solve your problem, then they send you a whole catalog of more overpriced things you need to buy. I had 5 products altogether. The system helped for a while but then stopped helping, as others have reported; I do not recommend it at all. The materials were short on instruction, long on advertising. Their "Club" also tries to subscribe you for more product than anyone could use. The system stopped helping sometime after the money-back guarantee expired, and my skin took months to recover from the harsh cleanser. Among 2.5% benzoyl peroxide products specifically, I suggest either Dan's or Neutrogena, definitely not Proactiv.

This product has worked wonders on my skin, as well.
but after time, I decided to find and easier way instead of having to use my credit card and find an over the counter product to use.
I now use panoxyl cleansing bar with 5% bezoyl peroxide, and benzac W 10 cream for after at night time.
This treatment works even BETTER than proactiv, and it's MUCH cheaper, and comes in much LARGER packages.
PLEASE TRY THIS. IT WORKED SO WELL FOR ME, AND I HAD EXTREMLY BAD ACNE BEFORE.
here's a site to look at for products with bezoyl peroxide.

I love this stuff, it costs plenty, but it works great. It shrinks pimples over night.
