Birth Control works wonders for your ance i reccomend diane 36 but you cant be on itmore than 6 months because it eats away at your liver. Tri-cyclen iv been on for close to a year it works somewhat unless you get ur period and stop taking it then the ance comes back

birth control pills are made for just that - being the SOLE protector against pregnancy. while everyone should be wearing condoms to prevent the spread of STD's, it's simply ignorant to state that OTC should not be used alone to prevent pregnancy. if it was ineffective at preventing pregnancy it would not be on the market!

OTC is the only thing that works for my face. Some offices don't even have this kinda, just the LO. TRUST ME, I was on the LO for a year and suffered bad acne. I got back on OTC and its gone.

I'm on OTC and I really have had no complaints about taking it so far. I have been on it for about 2-3 years now and before I was on Ortho Cyclen for about 3-4 years.

I was diagnosed with severe chronic dry eye about 2 years ago (almost about the same time that I started taking OTC). Has anyone ever experienced severe dry eyes before while taking OTC?? I'm the only one in my family to ever get this, so I know it can't be a genetic thing. I've tried everything so far, but nothing seems to be helping. Thus, bringing me to the conclusion that it may be due to taking OTC.

All opinions are welcomed. Thanks!

I had been on OTC for about 5 1/2 years and it was literally the only thing that worked for my horrible acne. I even did 2 rounds of Accutance in Jr. High and High school and results didn't even come close to what I acheived w/ OTC. One thing was with OTC that it took awhile for me to adjust emotionally to it. After a year on OTC and I was fine. My insurance changed about 3 months ago and I switched to Ortho Tri Nessa, my skin has been pretty bad since I've started and I am switching back to OTC, I rather pay $40 a month and be happy w/ my skin then save a few bucks and be miserable. That's just my personal experience, everyone reacts differently.

I started using Ortho Tri-Cyclen Regular when I was 16 due to my mild case of acne. After using it for a year and a half I stopped taking it, thinking that my body and skin would adjust to it. WRONG! My acne started to creep back to me, but it would be off and on, but no where near the clearness while I was on the pill.

Now, at the age of 21, I am back on the pill, along with the prescribed Benzaclin. I am currently at the start of my 2nd pack and I can really see the difference. Being regular again is a really good feeling as well! I assume that it will take 3 months or more to be completely clear, since that's how long it took me when I started at 16.

My doctor told me that it works after 2 weeks. -But don't rely on it as a contraceptive alone!

I was taking the pill for 5 years and everything seemed fine. Mood swings every once in a while (around my period), no weight gain, pretty normal. I've been off the pill for 2 1/2 months due to health insurance reasons. My skin is so bad! A friend of mine came over today and asked "What happened to your face!!!". I have acne all over my forhead. So to answer Anonymous, NC... Yes it happens and I have no idea what to do eather.

I suffered acne thru out high school and wasted hundreds of dollars on worthless acne products and trips to the dermatologist.
I began taking Ortho Tri-Cyclen Regular when I was 18. It was the only thing that EVER worked for me!
My skin wasn't perfect, but the breakouts were minimal--just a few tiny zits here and there. Never gained weight either, but the pills absolutely killed my libido.
I stopped taking Ortho about a month ago. I've been on it for so long and thought that couldn't be good for my body. Now that I'm 25 I thought my acne wouldn't be as bad as it was in my teens. Now the pimples are slowly but surely coming back. I'm not sure if that's my body adjusting, or because I'm about to get my period.
Has anyone ever used Ortho Tri-Cylcen and had great results for their acne, then stopped taking it and all other birth control pills? Did your acne flare back up and eventually go away, or did you just have to go right back on the pill?

I recently got on the pill after after a three year break. My doctor prescribed Yasmin for me because it's the "new thing." Should've just gone with the pill I took before - Ortho Novum 1/35 - because I had NO side effects with that. First week of Yasmin I was super emotional. I read some research online (Yasmin is on [link removed] list) and decided to change brands. Started Trinessa and a few weeks in had major breakout - and I have always had clear skin. Just switched to name brand OTC and skin is still bad. Do I hold our for another month to see if it clears up or go back to Ortho-Novum? I'm so embarrassed by my skin...
