I was on OTC for about6 months & I have to say it is the worst thing I have ever done.

I had mild ance before going on OTC and it did not improve while I was on it. I had terrible hormonal reactions. My moods went like clockwork with the pill colors. Depression and irratiblity became common for me & I'm normally a happy, laid back person.

When I went off OTC my acne came out in full force. It became worse than I have ever had it before & has not really resided.

I regret ever trying this medication.

I've been on Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo for a year. I went on it initially to control my cycle, whihc it has. I have never had acne ever ( a small pimple here or there...), and now, my face is horrible. I have gained weight a little, but the most horrible syptoms is my acne and severe depression. I want to stop taking it, but I am afraid my cycle will become crazy again.

I used ortho lo for about 4 months. I would say it worked well because I didn't get knocked up. However, I turned into a moody bitch almost over night. I was sad and irritable all the time for no reason. I had begun taking the pill a few years ago but chucked them after 2 weeks because of the mood swings. This time I stayed on ortho lo for about 4 months. At 22 for the first time in my life my clear skin errupted with painful cystic acne on my cheeks and forehead. I tryed everything and nothing worked. I got sick of everyone telling me to go wash my face So I got fed up and literally the day after I stopped taking the pill my pimples were less inflamed and painful. It has been ten days now and my face has completely cleared up; however, I have the scars to show for it along with 6 extra pounds. Like one of the earlier entries it felt like a cloud had been lifted from above my head. My moods have returned to normal and I am very happy even if I am not getting any action.

I have been taking Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo for eight months and have noticed that my skin has cleared up a little bit. I never had bad acne to begin with, mostly small breakouts on my chin, but they have lessened. I use a clay mask with sulfur everyday, and if I have a breakout, I'll put it on the affected spots before bedtime. Usually that dries them up ASAP, all ready to be covered up in the morning. Works pretty well most of the time. Give it a try!

Works great for my skin. Feel very nauseous though and have experienced slight weight gain (5 lbs that I can't shake). I always feel hungry!

I used to use regular Ortho for acne, and remember that it did almost nothing, but caused extreme moodiness and irritability. I seriously felt like a dark cloud was lifted the day I stopped taking it. Now it's a few years later, and I am on Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo for birth control, and to hopefully help (or at least not hurt) my acne. If anything I'd say my skin got worse during the first month and a half, and now is just gradually calming down. I will give it another month, but so far it's no miracle (although the mood-related side effects are nil).

Ladies, Ladies, Ladies...I am going on 38 and have problems with my skin since I started having periods when I was 12. It was horrible all through high school and college. I suffered alot of damage to my self esteem because of it. My back is forever scarred terribly from painful cyctic acne. I went to dermotologist from an early age-tetracycline,Retin-A (which was a couple of hundred dollars) not one but TWO sessions of Accutane ($300 a month for several months years ago) every topical thing I could could my hands on. You frickin' name it, I've tried it. Yes, Ortho-tri-cyclen DOES INDEED WORK FOR ME ! It will take 2-3 months to start working and 2-3 months for your acne to return after you stop taking it. Yes, ortho does have a small amount antibiotics which can knock your friendly bacteria in your intestines out of balance which means yeast infection but 90% of the US population has an inbalance of yeast. Everyone, yes everyone, who eats an amercian diet should be supplementing with acidophillus. Can get it at any health store (KEEP REFRIGERATED). Better yet, detox, change your lifestyle and diet, cut out all sodas, white flour, and SUGAR ! Yes sugar. I know it sucks. But the short cuts are not all they are cracked up to be. They are actually quite dangerous.! ACCUTANE is dangerous and toxic they won't even give it to you unless you are on birth control AND sign a release stating you know it actual does cause severe birth defects) Don't believe the marketing crap. Those people don't care about you. Because all this crap I have put in my body ny liver is severly damaged. Ladies, do you own research and don't trust any doctor however nice he/she is.

And it's only been three frickin days!!!! After reading all the horror stories on this site about worsening acne, scarring and such, I'm thinkin about just taking my chances with condoms... I'm super annnoyed at this drug.

I've been on ortho tri lo for about a year. It hasn't helped my acne at all and I think it makes it worse. I take a multi vitamin, drink fish oil, eat my fruits & veggies and still a new zits everyday. So I guess I need to find another method. I don't know what to do. Risk getting pregnant or have zits?
