Pros regular perriods, no pregnancy
Cons tired, acne became worse in firrst few months
Bottom line I decided to switch to ortho tricyclene a couple of months ago because I heard it was a good pill and I was not happy with the one I was on. Beofre I started OTC, I had very mild acne ( a few pimples on chin and forehead). I am just finishing my second pack of pills, and my skin is horrible ( a bunch of samll pimples on my forhead). I know that you are supposed to give it at least three months to work, and I am planning on sticking it out. If anyone struggled with the same thing, could you please tell me if it got better after three months. Thanks!

Pros No pros yet! I dont't think Ive been on it long enough.
Cons Weight gain, but it went away after the first month. Really depressed and bad break outs in the first week/row of the pills.
Bottom line Ive been taking OTC lo for one month and a week now. I'm on it for moderate acne but it made my acne worse. I break out in the first week of the pack but supposedly it can take about 3 months before it starts working...gets worse before it gets better i guess!? I'm going to stick with it and after 3 months if my acne is still worse then I am going on accutane!

Pros havent really seen any improvement, and i have been taking it for 6 weeks now ...
Cons i think my acne has worsened
Bottom line hi, im 17 my problem is kind of diff, since it's not just about the acne, i actually have polyistic ovarian syndrome (PCOS). My skin was flawless before i started my menstrual cycle (13 years old),and even a year after that my skin seemed fine and then all of a sudden i started getting acne, very moderate though, i would only get like 1 or 2 sometimes even 3 pimples, but just last year i started having acne a bit more then i did before, and it seemed like it was leaving scars, i also started getting facial hair ( as in the hair on my face and body grew). I was going crazy becouase i didnt know why all this was happening. So i went to the doc and according to my results she said i had PCOS, and that my hormones were just imbalanced, so now im on OCT Reg. and i hope evrything works out, i really dont care about the acne much, but the excess hair needs to go, n even worse my periods need to get regular again, cuz i really dont want any pregnancy prob's in the future!

Pros Provided birth control with only moderate weight gain
Cons made my acne spread like wildfire. WORST ACNE OF MY WHOLE LIFE!!
Bottom line I first tried regular OTC in hopes that it would work for my moderate acne like the commercials proclaimed. Before I realized it, I had zits in places that I didn't know you could get them!!! and we aren't talking just whiteheads. I am talking serious, pussy cysts. So of course after those 3 months of hell, I switched, and this time gave OTC low a try. Now I don't have cysts, but I have horrible acne on my back that I never used to have!!! No matter what medicine I try to get rid of the zits, nothing worked. So I decided to go off of OTC low and what do you know? NO ZITS. Now I am looking for a brand of birth control that doesn't cause this kind of side effect.

Pros No babies, breasts increased one cup size, no mood swings
Cons Didn't affect my skin at all (I was hoping for improvement), I still get cramps and bloating as I did without the pill
Bottom line I used to take OTC and now take OTC Lo. OTC helped my acne; OTC Lo doesn't, which is ok because I'm taking an Clindamycin/Adapalene combo for my face and my skin looks better than it ever did on OTC. I like OTC Lo because it has kept me from becoming pregnant without causing any of the really bad side effects (mood problems, decreased sex drive, headaches) that I've had with previous pills.

Pros Helped with acne, shorter periods, I know when my period will start, less cramps
Cons weight gain, a couple times Ive fealt quease afterward, mood swings
Bottom line When I first got on the pill 4 years ago my periods were irregular, skipping months have two in a few weeks time, lasting anywhere from 3-14 days! My cramps would have me doubled over in pain crying, I couldnt take it so I got on the pill. Within the first month things were much better, and since I've been on it my period starts on the exact same day and lasts 6 days, my cramps are minimal and usually goes away with asprin.

Pros It's great for cramps and it cleared my acne in the past.
Cons expensive for me ($43 month) and it's not working this time yet
Bottom line I used this before having kids and it was fantastic! My skin was fine for years. Then I started Trinessa (worst drug ever made) and got sick, cramps, spotting, horrible acne, depression...I just went back on OTC brand for two months and my skin is just as bad if not worse. My derm said keep waiting b/c it might take another month or so. I'm praying it does work and if not does anyone have another recommendation for me in the pill?
