Pros predictable periods
Cons made acne much much worse!! made me more emotional. lower sex drive.
Bottom line I personally would not recommend this to anyone. I've never had acne this bad in my life, I've never had such problems controlling my emotions and it's kind of a pain not having the same drive as i did before.

Pros It is birth control, prevention of pregnancy.
Cons I keep getting random flashes of dizziness and a feeling of faintness when I could feel perfectly fine just a minute ago. My acne seems to be worsening, and the back pain still persists as bad as before.
Bottom line The random dizzy feeling's are not good, one came over me while I was driving at night and I couldn't stop my eyes from spinning and beginning to get faint. My acne is worsening, when I got on the pill to clear it up. I've only been on it for 1 pack now, hopefully the side effects will calm and the acne as well.
Price paid $9.00

Pros protects against pregnancy, regular periods, helps cramps
Cons I have never had acne until taking this product. Now my chin is breaking out horribly. I have gone to the dermatologist several times and nothing is fixing it. I have gained weight and I feel bloated.
Bottom line I went to my doctor today and she switched me to Yasmin. Suppossly this will help my acne. We'll see. If it wasn't for the acne I could stand Ortho Tricyclen Lo.

Pros clear skin, regular periods, lighter periods. Not pregnant.
Cons have to remember to take it every day, same time. Lower sex drive (I think). I rather have clear skin. I'm vain.
Bottom line OTC only works for HORMONAL ACNE! If you break out before your period OTC can help for most women. I would always breakout right before my period, around my mouth and jaw. OTC cleared up the problem. No more breakouts at all. The only thing is you have to keep on taking the pill. Once you stop your hormones will go back to the mess they were before you started the pill.
It's free if you go to a clinic and have no insurance.
I don't think it causes weight gain. Face it, this is America. We eat a lot of junk and we are completely lazy!

Pros regulated menstral cycle, pregnancy prevention
Cons not helping the acne as i had expected
Bottom line i have been on orthotricyclen for three or four monthes now, i thought it would clear up my acne because the doctor at planned parenthood told me so but it hasn't helped much. i still have regular breakouts im 19 and have had a problem with acne since my sophmore year of highschool.

Pros Clears acne with little to no side-effects.
Cons Is a little pricey, co-pay is $25. Thankfully we can afford to refill every month! Oh, and it did make me a little more emotional.
Bottom line When I first started out, I broke out a little but nothing out of the ordinary. I actually went into this thinking it wouldn't work because nothing else had before. I started out with almost severe acne, went down to moderate and tried ortho. I'm so thankful my derm. suggested birth control because 6 months later I completely stopped breaking out. I can now say, 10 months after I first started, I no longer worry about waking up to new pimples!

So if you're thinking about taking Ortho, or already are on it and are reading reviews for some hope, PLEASE wait it out at least until the 6 month mark. Oh and beware of Ortho LO, for some people it helps with acne, but for most it makes it worse.

Best of luck :-)

Pros clears skin, regulates periods, prevents pregnancy
Cons nausea occurs when first starting otc, but goes away after first pack. However, this is a side effect of otc.
Bottom line OTC works very well at regulating periods, and does help to clear skin. I saw a significant improvement in my skin after the first pack. They say that it takes about three months to show complete results from using OTC, so just hang in there.
