Ladies, Ladies, Ladies...I am going on 38 and have problems with my skin since I started having periods when I was 12. It was horrible all through high school and college. I suffered alot of damage to my self esteem because of it. My back is forever scarred terribly from painful cyctic acne. I went to dermotologist from an early age-tetracycline,Retin-A (which was a couple of hundred dollars) not one but TWO sessions of Accutane ($300 a month for several months years ago) every topical thing I could could my hands on. You frickin' name it, I've tried it. Yes, Ortho-tri-cyclen DOES INDEED WORK FOR ME ! It will take 2-3 months to start working and 2-3 months for your acne to return after you stop taking it. Yes, ortho does have a small amount antibiotics which can knock your friendly bacteria in your intestines out of balance which means yeast infection but 90% of the US population has an inbalance of yeast. Everyone, yes everyone, who eats an amercian diet should be supplementing with acidophillus. Can get it at any health store (KEEP REFRIGERATED). Better yet, detox, change your lifestyle and diet, cut out all sodas, white flour, and SUGAR ! Yes sugar. I know it sucks. But the short cuts are not all they are cracked up to be. They are actually quite dangerous.! ACCUTANE is dangerous and toxic they won't even give it to you unless you are on birth control AND sign a release stating you know it actual does cause severe birth defects) Don't believe the marketing crap. Those people don't care about you. Because all this crap I have put in my body ny liver is severly damaged. Ladies, do you own research and don't trust any doctor however nice he/she is.

OK I just started taking this pill 3 days ago... the first day, nothing... day 2 - sick to my stomach couldn't get out of bed all day... and today?? A crazy breakout all over my face. And it's only been three frickin days!!!! After reading all the horror stories on this site about worsening acne, scarring and such, I'm thinkin about just taking my chances with condoms... I'm super annnoyed at this drug.

I've been on ortho tri lo for about a year. It hasn't helped my acne at all and I think it makes it worse. I take a multi vitamin, drink fish oil, eat my fruits & veggies and still a new zits everyday. So I guess I need to find another method. I don't know what to do. Risk getting pregnant or have zits?

i am 21. I started taking ortho tri-cyclen 1.5 months ago. My life turned to hell, I AM SERIOUS!! i always was very conscious about my skin since I have had acne for a while. But it always would be moderate, sometimes would clear up, especially when I would use some special skin care from cosmetologists. My doctor prescribed me ortho to help me with both cramps and clear my skin. I got the worst acne ever, cystic acne. I started getting these deep, hard, and painful pimples. When my friends saw me after couple of weeks they were shocked. they said that my whole face was swallen. I was breaking out even more especially around my chin and lower part of the chick,and not significantly on other parts. i was stressing out and still am. It's been alredy 1.5 months and my acne is is not gone. i got already scarring on my face which makes me hate to look at the mirror. I am afraid to go out of the house, embarassed to meet people. that's crazy, I don't think I and many of you deserve it!!! i did already microdermabrasiona nd a facial to help my scars and exsisting acne. i really don't know what should I do. Should i stop or should i continue take it. if anybody knows and can advise me smth from own experience, PLEASE DO! People and guys would always say that i am beautiful but I don't consider myself anymore, they don't know how i look now because of this pills, obviously.

I havnt used ortho tri-cyclen, but my doctor prescribed me a birth control pill called Diane 35 ED to control my acne. It was the best thing that ever happened to me I had only the odd pimple every couple of months while I was using this pill (and I had pretty severe acne). however, when I first went on it I vomited for one week straight - the doctor told me i had a reaction to the oestrogen, but because I hated my pimples so much I kept on battling through it. eventually the nausea subsided, but three years after being on the pill the nausea/vomiting came creeping back (once a week, then twice a week, then everyday) so I had to stop taking it. My pimples have since come back full force and I havnt had a period for five months since coming off it! so use it by all means -it works for pimples - but if you get sick initially STOP TAKING IT!!

This thing is horrible!!! It made my skin break out even more!! I gained wait, and my periods were longer and hevier!!!! trust me girls! it'll screw up your body! and you have a chance of becoming strile after taking it for more than year! not worth, stick to an acne treatment that will work, like minocyclin, or roaccutan.Peeling also work great, becasue it re-surfaces all dead skin, and dries everything FAST.

I've been on Ortho Tri-Cyclen for about a year now. When I first went on the pill my acne got worse, and I was quite miserable because I went on it to get rid of my acne. My doc told me to just wait it out, and I did. After about 3 or 4 months my skin got so much clearer. The increase of acne when I went on the pill did cause scarring, but I am glad that I started using this pill because my skin is 80% better. My doctor is starting me on Diane 35 now, hopefully that will help me clear skin better. my goal is to have one day with out a breakout.

I just recently had my first baby 4 months ago and have been on Ortho Tri-Cyclen for one complete month now.I have been straight bleeding for 2 wks now(and that after 4 wks post partum bleeding)grrrrr...so I don't know what's up with that.I wonder when I will finally stop bleeding.Is there anything I can do to make it go away?I take the pill very accurate at the same time each day, I am never even a min.late so that cannot be the problem.I do get very intense cramps every morning when I wake up.I've never had painful cramps like that before.

This stuff made me break out so bad. I first tried Ortho Tri Cyclen for 6 months and it made me break out. I have always had a couple zits here and there (1 or 2) but not bad. So then I swited to ortho tri cyclen lo because my doctor thought it was too high for me. NOPE! It just didnt work, I used it for one year to see if my acne would go away and it didn't. Now I have been off of it for 6 months and I still have chronic acne :( . Which has turned into severe cysitic acne. I hate birth control it really screwed up my skin bad. I have read that oral contraceptives can cause candida (yeast infections) which cause acne so I think that may be my problem. Give it a look if you have this problem. GOOD LUCK!!!
