I have had been on the pill for quite a long time. Dont let all of these people say that it doesn't work or that it isn't good for ance or anything because it depends who you are and how your body works. The pill worked for my acne, very well. I am not sexually active, yet, but i can tell you that it does work. They wouldn't give perscribe you a pill and they wouldn't put it on the market if it didn't work. So trust me on this one!

I have been taking Trinessa for 7 months and it has definetly been effective. My boyfriend and I still use the old pull out method when we don't use a condom. The only thing I don't like is that it has killed my sex drive and it is harder to have orgasms. Also, it has caused vaginal dryness and sometimes even mood swings and depression.

I am going back on Ortho Tri Cyclin. They gave me the generic- Tri Nessa, which is a horror show. It made me break out, gave me awful scars on top of the scars I already have from breakouts throughout my young adulthood. They also made me depressive, have mood swings, gain a ton of water weight. I am also on differin which I seem to be non responsive to, like most topical ointments. The only time my skin has cleared up was when I was pregnant and when I was on Ortho tri cyclin. From what I am gathering, all other birth control pills are not effective for acne treatment. Which is probably why my crooked insurance company will only cover a small portion of the expense for OTC.--They probably view it as a "cosmetic" or whatever crafty reason suits them not to cover fully a popular drug.

DO NOT TAKE BIRTH CONTROL TO FIX YOUR ACNE! Taking Birth Control causes an overabundance of hormones in your body that WILL cause your face to break out. This is a FACT- it says it right on the sheet accompanying the pills listed as a side effect! I started regular Ortho Tri-Cyclen a little over 3 weeks ago thinking it would clear up my face and it has only made it worse!

i've had acne since i was 13, i'm 16 now..still suffering. At times throughtout many different treatments ( first off store bought products, clindoxyl gel, differin, retin-A from lowest to highest %, staticin) I found my acne got better then worse again. Right now i think it's at it's worse point... i've been using proactiv for a little over a month, and tried Tri cyclin lo for 1 month(made my face break out, found out its not even for acne) then switched to tri cyclen regular and been on that for 2 months... but im not satisfied i still have like 20 pimples on my face not to mention many red spots. People say tri cyclen takes 3 months to start working for the skin, but my dermotologist said 6 months :o.. im hoping my skin WILL clear up within that time. i will continue using proactiv.. anyone else have to wait a long time for tri cyclen to work for the skin??

I just recently started taking Ortho Tricyclen Lo (about 1.5 months ago), and now that I'm reading these posts, I'm beginning to have regrets!

About a week into the pills, I broke out and had strange, red rashes around my nose, eyes, and chin. I got a facial, and the derm said it was definitely a rash, but I didn't know what could have triggered it. Besides taking the pills, everything I had been doing was normal. So, I think I can safely attribute the break-outs and the rash to the birth control pills now!

I was iffy about pills from the very beginning, so this isn't helping me much. I'm going to finish this pack and then just go off of them. Besides, I felt like the OTC Lo made my period heavier and it wasn't any shorter. Thanks for all the comments...they've helped me come to my final decision!

I started on Ortho Tricyclen when I was 18, and my face has never broken out so badly in my life. I thought it was stress from starting college, even though I previously got maybe one pimple every 2 months. The week I changed from OTC to Nordette, my face started clearing up. I felt it was hard to lose weight on Nordette, so I recently switched to Yasmine... and once again, my face is breaking out. I'll take the few vanity pounds and switch back to Nordette if it means not having a face full of pimples.

For years I tried all sort of product for my acne. I visited four diferent dermatologist and was put on diferent treatments but nothing would take mu acne away. After almost giving up I visited another dermatologist and she prescribed the pill. It Worked! Ortho Tri Cyclen took my acne away. I've been using it for a year and I haven't had any side effects. It's just great. I can't beleive I wasted all the money and time on acne products.

After having my second baby I wanted my tubes tied but the doctor said i was too young. I was first put on Yasmine, horriable pill hungry all the time, anxiety shakey, than doctor switched mt to ortho tri cyclen lo. I've been on the pill for 7 mths but it makes me hungry all the time i gained about 8lbs. feel bloated and moody , im waiting till my pack is over than i want to get an IUD....hormone free birth control. Read more about this method because it has no hormones and last for 10 years or whenever you want to take it out. 99% effective
