I've been suffering from acne since i was 12, i'm now 26 and believe that I have tried every treatment under the sun (haven't we all). I was put on roaccutane at the age of 13 as was my older brother, for me it cleared up for about a year and typically my brother has never had another spot in his life. Last year I was rushed into hospital and discovered that I suffer from polycystic ovarian syndrome, which is a hormone imbalance and causes cysts on the ovaries also the major side effect of this is acne. Due to this illness I am unable to take any pill but have heard dianette is very helpful for us acne suffering girls. I am just letting you know about pcos as I believe that it is more common than we know and I am shocked that no doctor has ever detected this in all the years I have been seeking medical attention for my acne. For pcos there is no cure but being treated for the imbalance of hormones, can decrease the acne side effects. So girls if you are out your teeens and still suffer badly, check this out. Sun I believe is the best help you will get but if we have to resort to using constant sunbeds, I'm sure we will all die of cancer, can't win eh. starting my first treatment of microdermabrasion tomorrow so I will keep you informed, til then, good luck and keep smiling xx

Hi all
Just coming back to you all with an update. I had my second n-lite treatment, and to my horror things got far worse then i had imagined. Two weeks before my wedding i decided not to go ahead with the third treatment, i couldn't risk being an ever so spotty bride! The doctor put me on Dianette, and a topical treatment called acnecide 5% (available over the counter). I can tell that the treatment is working as my skin is far less greasy, therefore, less prone to blocked pores, inflammation and acne. I would recommend that you try watching what you eat. Reduce bad fats and more importantly sugar from your diet and have plenty of fruits. Eat an apple before going to bed and inflamation reducing fruits such as pineapple, kiwi, strawberries and drink at least 2 litres of water. Try it for at least 2 weeks to see results and persist with it. It is hard work, but if you want clear skin, you'll go with it. I've also started using a french brand 'gel cleanser' called Pier Auge Olimus. Its great! I came across it just days before my wedding, i noticed results instantly. My skin was far less oily and it dried out existing spots. I got it from a salon in queensbury called Beauty World. The tel no is 0208 204 9882. I would also recommend having a facial once a month if you can afford it. They steam the face and use a utensil to unblock the poors. Most english salons dont use this utensil eg selfridges, clinique (as i have tried there facials) Try going to a salon that has indian facials. I would recomment AQ Beauty, Ealing Road, Wembley. There tel no is 02308 900 0778 (facial costs about £35-40) and the cleanser is about £17. Please let me know if you have any results as it worked for me!

Hello Fellow acne sufferers
I am now 28, and I have had spots since I was 12 years old, for over half my life. It is wearing and exhausting looking at the mirror every morning, hoping you can venture out without looking positively awful. I have tried Diannette, and loads of creams and antibiotics, I have now come across NLite in Ireland, I am very tempted, but does it really work? It seems so expensive, but I'll sacrifice to pay for it, if it works. I get breakouts every day on my cheeks and nose, chin and forehead. Any advice would be great.
