Pros: I didn't think the smell was bad at all; one month supply has lasted over five weeks, and I still have enough for at least another 10 days. Cons: After five weeks, still purging. Cystic acne, whiteheads, etc. Embarresed to be seen in public with my face the way it is. Bottom Line: I am not sure if my face is worse than it was before, but it's not better like I hoped it would be. I am 37, and am having worse acne now than when I was a teenager. I don't think the lotion is any good. The cleanser is fine. I am going to finish it up, but I don't think I am going to buy it again. I know different things work for different people. I just don't think these three-step systems are good with my skin. Back to the dermatologist. Recommended: No Usage: Joy has used this item for about a month. Pros: -Handy Kit -Ships Automatically -Effectiveness Cons: -Harsh Stinging ( I have a high tolerance for that, but if you don't take pain well, just be for warned!) -Makes breakouts worse at first -The package need ships WAY later than it says it would. so you are waiting around for it when you need it Bottom Line: First off, I'm 16 with moderate acne. I had small pimples on my forehead that weren't bacterial acne, but nonetheless there were enough of them to bother me. I started off using, like everyone else, alot of overthecounter items. I then used ProActiv, and after no success with that, I went to the doctor who prescribed me Retinol. I started using Murad Acne Complex on August 14 2008, I had results at first. The skin that wasn't covered in acne looked really good and bright! I was finally getting excited about my skin. But right before school started, I started breaking out where I had never broken out before, it really made me angry! It's taking me a very long time to get rid of this acne, especially the ones on the side of my nose. I've started using the Retinol in conjunction with the Murad, but yesterday my face suddenly got worse! I'm about ready to give up on it... but I figure a little longer won't hurt. Pros: *Calmed my skin *Acne scars are diminishing *Fewer and fewer breakouts Cons: *Smell of the acne gel is a little harsh but the lotion balances that out *Expensive Bottom Line: So far I have been using this product for a week and my skin has never felt better. I tried everything from Proactive to antibiotics to diet and natural remedies and they either made my skin worse or didn't do anything. This was my last resort before trying a microdermabrasion and I don't think I will have to be doing that anymore! My face was filled with small little pimples everywhere mainly cheeks and forehead and cystic acne also that hurt. Right now I have none of that on my skin and it feels great! Pros: Smells good. Otherwise NOTHING! Cons: Where should I begin? The uncomfortable burning and itching or the horrible breakouts that occur after you use it? Bottom Line: I've tried a lot of products for my cystic acne, lasers, antibiotics, proactiv, OTK products, etc. and this is by far the greatest disappointment of all. I used it for two weeks believing that perhaps the giant painful lesions that invaded my face worse than ever were just the so called "purging process". I called the company to confirm this and was told that I was probably allergic to it. Maybe it works great for some, but if you're allergic to it you won't find out until after you've wrecked your skin to the point that you don't want to leave the house. BUYER BEWARE!!!! Pros: WORKS! Soft Skin Affordable Cons: SLOW with helping blackheads.. Bottom Line: I honestly did not believe that the Murad system would work so well! Within a week I was already noticing a change in my skin. It was soooo soft my complexion was for once even! and my skin was clear! I have never had horrible acne but occasionaly do get the breakouts on my forehead which are always horrible. However with this system my skin is AMAZING. I will say that i have always had tons of little black heads on my nose and chin. The ones on my chin are almost entirely gone and my nose is starting to get there however not quite as fast as with my breakouts. But seriously if you want clear skin this is for sure the way to go! Bottom Line: It does not work for me. my face is dry and i have huge zits all over me now..my face was soooo starting to clear up after using pro active for three months...well hmph what was i thinking...i am going to see my boyfriend for a week in october cuz hes deployed and i have to look like this....ughhhhh...murad is a rip off...thanks dr. murad for ruining my skin and life! Pros: It works really well. I have tried numerous acne products and so far this is the best. Cons: If you stop using it or get lazy with it you will break out. Bottom Line: I am teen who suffers from acne and has been since the age of 12. Since then I have always been embarassed to go places and even used to sacrifice doing the things I loved because of my acne. Murad has helped me regain my confidence back. Pros: Affordable with a well known name Cons: Does not work and even if you cancel the membership, they continue charging your account. Bottom Line: I ordered Murad for my daughter and she tried it for 2-3 weeks. It made her face very irritated. She only finished the trial. Before I could even cancel the membership, we received a new package. I called to cancel immediately and they requested for me to mail the box back for a refund. I asked the representative to charge me for that package because I had no time to go all the way to the post office. Murad has charged my account over $200.00 and I left messages and e-mails and no answer. Recommended: No Usage: Chica has used this item for a few weeks. Pros: Nothing Cons: Made my face break out worse than ever. Bottom Line: I used this product for a full 4 weeks to try to get through the purge stage that Murad tells you about...but my skin was continually getting worse. I finally stopped using it and my skin looked better the next day. Thankfully Sephora allowed me to return everything because I spent almost $200. I definitely do not recommend this product.
