Mircette/kariva has been the only pill I can take that doesn't bring on full blown migraines. I have been on Mircette for about 2 1/2 years and have had an easy time with it; no weight problems, no mood swings, no bleeding, no acne problems. The only thing I am wondering is if it affects my libido/makes me dry at all. In the past 2 years that's the only problem I have consistently had and taking mircette was the only thing that has changed in my life. I am considering stopping the pill for a few months to see...

I took mircette for a year, a two years ago and I loved it. I stopped to have a baby, then this short 3 day period pill came out. I hate it and I am going to switch back to mircette. the 3 day period one causes you to spot when it's not even period time. gross. while on mircette, I had not side effects. I think I did get headaches ever now and then. Mircette is the best bc(haven't tried many)(LOL) I have tried.

Mircette has worked well for me. If I take it, I don't get cystic acne but I will still get the occasional regular pimple. I don't gain weight on it like I did on Ortho. However, the generic form, Kariva, gives me the worst migraines right before my period. We're talking ocular migraines where I see sparkles and sometimes lose part of my vision. The pharamacist swears the drugs are the same but my body doesn't react to them the same way.

I've been on mircette for three weeks now. I know that's not long, but my previously clear skin is breaking out again and I haven't changed anything but starting the pill. It has also made my boobs a little bigger. Other than that, I haven't noticed many side effects. I'm going to give it the three months and see if maybe my skin just needs to adjust. Will update.

I have been on Kariva (generic Mircette) for a year and a half. I am 28 and have also tried 4 other types of BCPs over the past 10 years. Kariva was great at first (I lost about 5-8 pounds!). My skin has been clear since I started taking it and no complaints about period cramps and there is minimal bleeding. The problem I have with this product is that after about 7 months, I started to gain weight, have headaches, moodiness, and the worst has been problems with stomach/ GI. I swear my metabolism has slowed to NOTHING over the past 7 months. I am constantly bloated, and cannot go to the bathroom when I am taking this product. I work out 4-5 times a week for 45-60 minutes at a time, so I can only think that Kariva is the problem.

Ortho Tri Lo made me feel sick to my stomach and did nothing for my acne after 6 months--in fact, I think it made it worse. I've now been on Mircette for two months, and while my skin isn't completely clear, it's much better than before, and I'm having less of those horrible, painful, huge cystic outbreaks.
I also use a topical Diffiren cream at night.
Some side effects I've noticed with Mircette are headaches about an hour or so before it's time to take the pill. I just take some excedrin as I feel it coming on, and I'm fine. Hopefully, it will get better with time.

It did however make my boobs a bit bigger...but not huge...I did however gain a little weight being on the pill and always felt depressed...which in return made me eat more...and I never felt full because the pill caused my stomache to never feel full..I am trying to switch to yasmin...well see how it goes. Good Luck to all those people on Mircette..take care :/

Mircette? Yuck! I have been on this pill for a month now and it has done nothing, but dried up my cervical mucus, make my acne worse and does nothing for headaches nor moodiness. It could just be how my hormones are since Mircette has less estrogen in it than most and it is recommended to take a pill that has more estrogen in it if you have acne problems (my main concern). I am going to try this pill for the recommend three months unless my acne continues to worsen. I will post further results.

I have been taking this birth control for about 2 years. It alone does not control my acne. However in combination with spironolactone it does. The wonderful thing about this pill is that it helps reduce migraines -- the reason my gyno switched me to it. But be careful, the generic brand does not prevent migraines as well as the name brand. My pharmacist said that it is due to the slight difference in the inactive ingredients. The name brand is double the price of the generic ($20 vs. $40).
