I took Mino. in the past and it worked very well.
I didn't have any of the side effects as stated before.
I stopped taking it for a year and my acne got really bad.
I got back on it and I feel a whole lot better cause the acne has disappeared.

I recommend diet changes too.
Drink lots of water and eat lots of vegetables.
Take vitamins too.

I was presribed Minocycline 100 mg 2x/ day and was taking it religiously about 1.5 months but noticed I was getting extremely tired, dizzy and ineffective at work. I couldnt think straight, and sometimes my walking was not balanced either. So, I called my doctor and he suggested that I stop taking it for 2 days to see if my symptoms decrease and they did, thank God. After which he recommended I take the med once/ day for a week and if all feels fine then try going back to the original dosage. I have stayed with the once/ day in fear of returning the the symptoms I had before. It was really terrible. I could not get anything done. I suspect it is still affecting me but to a tolerable degree. I am not having as bad dizziness at least. It did help my acne a lot. I don't have big break outs that often but had an extreme case after a stressful event in my life. The acne got worse and worse, I couldnt believe it. So, Minocycline has been a miracle in that it made this nightmare on my face stop. I am thinking of cutting back and stopping soon. I fear some of the longterm side effects that others have posted on this sire.

I started taking Minocycline 100MG 2x a day a couple of years ago. My face was plagued with acne. It took a couple of weeks for it to kick in, but when it did, it really cleared up my face.

I only give it a three partially because of me and partially because of the medicine. If you don't take it a day, it shows. I guess the best example I can give is that the acne seems to feed off the medicine and if it doesn't get it's 2 meals a day, it start jumping out of your face for food (bad example but you get the point).

As of now (about 2 years of taking it), my face still has acne, but few whiteheads. That is, unless I miss taking it one day. Then I have to wait pretty much a week before my acne gets under control again.

So if you start getting hives does that mean you should stop taking it? I mean i dont mind the hives since the medicine works. I'm just concerned something worse might happen if I keep taking it knowing I'm allergic. Apparently only 1:100 are allergic. Seems like more pple are breaking out though.

Minocycline 100mg 2x's per day cleard my skin of those pesky skin colored under the skn bumps. But I did get minor annoying side effects. I'm a small build at 115.lbs and with less body mass on such a high dose I got really dizzy and light headded all day every day. It was really worth it though to clear up. I'm still taking it and hope to intigrate AHA's and maintain the results while lowering the antibiotic.

I am 27 and I was on Minomycin (AKA Minocyclin) since I was 20. I began taking the prescribed two pills a day but after a year, cut it back to only one pill a day and my acne was totally under control. My doctor did not recommend any breaks from the antibiotic so I was on them for 6 years straight. However, a year ago, I started getting a 'monthly' pimple on my chin and I went off them. Now I have the worst acne I have ever experienced. I am thinking about going it again...

I used Minocycline 100 mg for only 10 days. On the 11th day I noticed 2 bumps on my elbow that I thought were bug bites. By the end of the day I realized they were hives.
I stopped the Minocycline on the 11th day, but the hives continued to worsen by the day. After three days of the hives spreading over my arms, legs, back and chest I went to the emergency room because I was having trouble breathing. The emergency room doctor prescribed Predisone for 5 days to reduce the hives and help my breathing. The emergency room doctor suspected Minocycline as the culprit of the hives.
I'm going back to the primary care physician today to discuss an alternative product. I had been on Minocycline for 40 some days over a year ago and had no reaction. So you really don't know if or when you may have a reaction to a medication. BE VERY CAREFUL, HIVES CAN BE VERY SERIOUS, ESPECIALLY WHEN THEY CAUSE BREATHING PROBLEMS. USE CAUTION.
