Pros I don't think I was on it long enough for it to work.
Cons I developed a bad case of hives, which I am now in my fourth day of, and even though I'm on steroids and Benadryl, they won't go away.
Bottom line I would not take this medicine if you have ever had a problem with an antibiotic. I am allergic to some other antibiotics and I think that maybe this indicates a hypersensitivity to them. Be careful - hives are no fun!

Pros Will clear acne in about 1-2 months of use.
Cons Will not "cure" acne. Rather, it buys your body some time to fight acne naturally [if you are a teen]. Side effects are not usually a problem, but can include nausea, headaches, and rarely skin pigment change [if used for long time/ high dose].
Bottom line This antibiotic is the best antibiotic for acne patients who havn't responded well to other treaments. However, the bacteria will eventually become resistant and will no longer be effective. Minocycline is used to prevent acne, not clear existing lesions so it may take up to 2 months for results. If Minocycline and other treaments have not worked consider taking Isotretinoin [known as Accutane]. I am currently on accutane since Minocycline did not work for me as a long term solution. However, eveyone is different so give Minocycline a try and be patient. Good luck!

Pros cleared up my face quickly, still get a few minor outbreaks.
Cons at first made me a little dizzy, felt sick. went away after 2 weeks. not being able to drink milk is a F***er. when drinking you can get drunk a lot faster (not really a con) but be careful, do not get pass out drunk.
Bottom line afraid about comming off it and having acne come back even worse

Bottom line I started on a 50mg twice daily for four weeks with no results. My Dr. then put me on 100mg twice daily. I'm trying to be optimistic since I've only been on the higher dose for two weeks but so far I'm still breaking out as usual(moderate).

Pros Helped Clear up my acne for a few weeks and stopped breaking out so often...
Cons Acne came back after third month.
Bottom line Took about 2-3weeks to see inprovements. Stopped breaking out for a few weeks and calmed down my acne on cheeks. Only problem is it stopped working for me end of my second month, I am still breaking out and hasn't cleared me 100%. Now going on accutane.

Pros Effectiveness
Cons It's a dangerous drug....severely outweights use
Bottom line If you have acne, Minocycline works great. Not enough information of the long term effects of this drug has been studied. Most like most people who have acne that effects one's social behavior that didn't matter. Like all illnesses and most unwanted reactions to the environment, Acne will one day be cured. Doctor's have noticed that the rate of Acne sufferers has been increasing throughout the years. Drug companies have profited greatly because of this, which leads me to think that maybe there is a cure, and companies like ProActiv, and the Drug companies are indoctrinating doctors and scientists on medicating patients instead of finding a cure.
I ONLY RECOMMEND THIS DRUG IF YOU UNDERSTAND THE DANGERS OF THE DRUG...

Pros Cleared up acne quickly and effectively. Only took 2 weeks to see drastic improvements when you with Clyndoxyl Gel.
Cons DOESNT LAST LONG ! Body gets used to it. No multivitamins, drinking (alcohol), or any other acne regiments while taking minocycline. Very frustrating when waiting for acne to clear up, especially the first few days that my pores were clearing out
Bottom line It did clear up my acne, but 3 months after first taking it my acne slowly started coming back. My dermatologist told me to start taking 2 pills a day (100mg). Most of my acne went away again, but same as before, my body got used to it and I had to go off of it for a few weeks to flush it out of my body. I've been on minocycline for 2 1/2 years now and I'm fed up. My acne comes back worse every time that I stop taking the pills and now I'll either need to take accutane (which I would really like to avoid because of the harsh acne that comes with the first months of using) or another method of treatment, I dont recommend this or any other anti bi's.
