Pros Since taking, I have not had any new breakouts and my existing acne reduced in redness and swelling
Cons afraid of what will happen when use of this product is discontinued

Pros Worked pretty well, cleared up my moderate acne almost to the point where it was non-existent.
Cons There were periodic times when you would still break out, but not a severe breakout...
Bottom line Talk to your doctor, I do nto recommend to anyone who does not like taking medications, or frequently forget to take their dosage. (Like Me) Thats why I stopped using it, because I just tend to forget to take the pill... But it did work, and I was glad I got it.

Pros i guess the price. no side affects
Cons just doens't seem to work well.
Bottom line exactly three weeks ago today i switched from bactrum to minocycline. I also switched my clindamyacin phosphate in the morning from an alchohol base to a cream. at night my retin-A got switched to diferin cream because the retin-A was to harsh on my skin. Well at first my skin got a lot better but then it started getting worse. Currently my acne has changed corses. My back and chest are at there worst in years. My facial acne has increased in number but decreased in severity. What I think it is is that the minocycline isn't working as well as the bactrum so its letting more form under my skin. But I think the topical solutions are helping to fight of the cystic and inflamatory acne I previously had. The result being a larger quantity of acne thats overall less in severity. My back is awlful though, seeming it doesn't get any topical solution. I have to call my dermatologist in a week and I'm gonna ask about keeping the topical solutions but switching back to bactrum.

Pros Insurance paid for most of it, skin cleared up after about 3 weeks.
Cons You can't stop taking it!
Bottom line A few months ago I started using 100mg/2x/day. After about 3 wks my skin cleared up so much!! I used up all my refills and missed about 2 weeks while waiting for my refill authorization and my skin got so bad! Maybe even worse than before. I'm back on it now and will not let my rx lapse again. Going to the dr on Tues to ask about Solodyn.

Pros Free over NHS
Cons Caused an allergic reaction during 2nd month - hives all over body and chest pain.
Does not provide a long term solution to acne.
Bottom line Minocycline didnt help my acne at all.

Just some advice - if your experiencing an adverse/allergic reaction get an appointment with your doctor and they will help you out!!

Pros clears up your skin short-term
Cons acne will return. not a long-term solution. also, it's unhealthy to take antibiotics all of the time on a regular basis.
Bottom line after 2-3 months of being on this medicine, my skin was almost perfectly clear. i had moderate acne and it cleared up. after about 4-5 months, the acne slowly started to return. eventually i was back to the way i was before. this wasn't a good long term solution in my case.

Pros It does keep a lot of break-outs at bay, but my face is not entirely clear.
Cons I have tried to go off of it a couple of times and I got bad break-outs both times. To clear those break-outs, I ended up back on it.
Bottom line It can help, but I don't think it is a cure-all. It should be a last resort.

Pros It manages acne great! I rarely break out now!
Cons I don't like taking medicines... their really bad for you and your liver, which ultimately makes your acne worse in the long run.
Bottom line It's a great antibiotic to take for a few months, but it's not a cure.
