Pros Reduced Inflammation
Reduced Redness
Reduced Severity of Outbreaks
Cons Did Not Stop Outbreaks
Bottom line Overall its a antibiotic worth trying it reacts with people in different ways, what doesn't help some might be a fix to others. I only took it for a month and maybe I didnt see its full benefits. Saying this though I used Epiduo gel along with monocylcine.

Pros So far so good only on day 3 but I've been doing my birth control and differn .3 and my face is smooth except for 1 bump that is almost gone on my cheek. I have not gotten ill or anything on mino. Hopefully when next month comes around ill be okay
Cons Nothing.
Bottom line I wanted to prevent my monthly cycle break outs that consisted of cyctic acne all over my chin and jawline so I went on birthcontrol, Yaz, for about 2 months and it cleared me up but still would get a few break outs on my chin and jawline so went to derm and she reccomnded mino and difern, so far so good now I can work on getting rid of all this scaring from my past break out. Id deff say gve it a try and see if it works for you. Oh my derm put me on two 100mg pills a day to start off with. Ill update in a weekor so. I started off with moderate acne before going on my birth control now with the differin and mino I only have one bump that is practically gone.

Pros I believe it kept my acne under control for a little bit
Cons Made me feel sick sometimes (headaches)
Bottom line I have almost been on this for 3 months and my acne has not cleared!
If you have mild acne this would probably work.

Pros Makes skin very smooth, seems to be clearing acne up well
Cons I became increasingly tired, headaches, sensitive stomach
Bottom line I have been minocycline for just over a month now, and have seen an improvement with my skin. Although it is not a huge improvement, it is an improvement none the less. I visited my gp yesterday, and he prescribed me with another 2 months dosage. He is very happy with the results so far, and has ensured me i will be clear soon, and to be patient, as it does take a long time for the drugs to settle in to the system. I seem to be doing fine witht the side effects, not as bad as some. A few headaches here and there, bit of tiredness, and stomach sensitivity, but its woth it to have clear skin.

Pros works well and cleared up acne fast!
Cons It caused liver damage, and my liver is still trying to recover from it. I had to stop taking the medication after a year, but my acne didn't come back. just make sure to get you liver checked so you don't end up like me!
Bottom line be careful! I recommend it only because it worked well.

Pros Improves skin problems, cost almost nothing because of insurance
Cons Gave me 'bacne,' migraines, nausea every day, skins problems come back when you go off of it, way more expensive than other antibiotics if you don't have insurance
Bottom line I think this works for some people, and it actually did improve my skin a lot. I have perioral dermatitis, not acne, but it's improved by all the same medications. I stay on minocycline for about a year because it kept my skin ALMOST under control. It got rid of my derm once and I went off it a month later but a month after that it all came back.

My mom has been on this for years and years. It's so bad for you and your skin becomes 'addicted to it.'

It also made me really sick and made my back break out even though it helped my face. (I've never had acne there before.)

I'm trying accutane now I hope it works!! I've been off of minocycline for a week now and my nausea and head pain alleviated almost instantly.

Pros Worked well
Cons If you use it for a long period of time, dark spots will form on your face. Sort of like scars, except not from picking.
Bottom line I was using it with differin and my face was great. Not completely clear, though. Some small pimples on my hairline, but it was okay. Then my mom and derm. switched everything on me and my skin got horrible. Now if I switched back, it would be too weak.

Pros It does work but not as well as accutane. I have had bad acne since I was a teen and now I'm 27 years old.
Cons Please Please don't take this drug. The side effects are not worth it. I've never been so sick in my life.
Bottom line Try accutane.
