| Pros: | It worked within days and I have had acne for over 10 yrs! I was bumpless for the first time since accutane 7 yrs ago. After 4 months however I'm noticing that pimples are coming on more and more...but I'm afraid to bump up beyond current 100mg bid |
| Cons: | Within a couple days I started to get this deep itchy sensation all over. In two weeks I started to get unbearable hives. I backed off and slowly got back on and 4 months later the hives or itching has never come back! But now the efficacy is less |
| Bottom Line: | The stuff worked for me. Never had any nausea or side effects besides strange itching and eventual hives - after backing off for a week to let my body adjust I did one 100mg pill every day, then 1 every 18 hours and then one every 12 hrs which is where I was supposed to be in the first place. Never had a side effect again and it worked awesome. After 4 months I am starting to break out again... not sure exactly what to do. The greatest part is I have no hypersensitivity to the sun which has plagued me with all of the other meds Ive tried for my acne. I'm thinking of getting off of it because I can feel its not working as well anymore and I'm also afraid of turning blue. |

| Pros: | I am 27 and have suffered form Cystic acne since 10 or 11. I have tried every topical and Birth control. Finally at 27 I was given Minocycline. No more cysts! |
| Cons: | None |
| Bottom Line: | It work wonders. I began taking 2 pill twice daily for 6 weeks. Then 3 pill daily for 3 weeks then 2 pills daily for 2 weeks then 1 pill daily for a week then every other day till I was taking none. It was about 9 months before any sign of a cyst occured and when it did I began taking the pill 2 times daily for 2 or 3 weeks! I was told once you have adult acne it is always there you can maintain though. I think it worked wonders! I basically acne free now. I had no side effects at all. |

| Pros: | None |
| Cons: | #1. Made my fair skin extremely sensitive to sun, heat, excessive emotion. #2. Although the redness eventually went away, after coming off mino, my acne returned worse than before in places in which I was previously clear. |
| Bottom Line: | Wish I had never gone on it. |

| Pros: | Cleaned skin up for a few weeks. |
| Cons: | My body must be too used to it after a year and a half for it to work anymore. Every time I reduce my dosage I get a breakout worse than any I've experienced before. I finally decided that today I am going to stop taking it and try 'the regimen'. |
| Bottom Line: | Works for a while, but when it stops working it only creates problems when you try to get off it. Though I have been battling with a little bit of depression, I cannot say that it is or is not due to this medication. The effects of Minocycline may vary for each user, but it did not work very well for me. I am now forced with taking accutane before I go to college or suffering my acne as it is. |

| Pros: | Completely cleared my severe acne up other than the occasional couple of pimples a week after taking 200mg/day for a little over 2 months. No side effects. |
| Cons: | Been off it for 2 weeks because I'm going on a cruise and worried about increased sensitivity to sun exposure- I've just started breaking out pretty bad again. |
| Bottom Line: | It works as long as you're taking it...I didn't have dry skin or any other side effects I've had as a result of other acne meds. My skin didn't seem quite as oily as usual either. I do still have red/purple scars from pimples which my dermatologist claims will go away with time. I had an expensive and mildly painful microdermabrasion and chemical peel which made my face very dry but I think it somewhat sped up the process of the scars disappearing. |

| Pros: | Worked effectively for about the first two weeks, a dramatic decrease in amount of whiteheads, blackheads. Easy to swallow capsules, I didn't have to apply topical creams all over. Side effects of nausea or sensitive skin were not experienced. |
| Cons: | After that initial two weeks, the usefulness of the product tapered off to the point where I'm relying on my Benzoyl Peroxide to get rid of the pimples. Maybe it works for others as a long term treatment option, didn't for me. |
| Bottom Line: | The first two weeks were alright a pretty good decrease in overall pimples. After that, I now have moderate acne on my forehead and jaw line, which was never there before. The combination with Benziq (5.25% BP wash) is nice as the benziq is working. Told the derm that I wasn't satisfied and he now has me on Doxycycline (Another tetracycline antibiotic?!?! Come on doc, give me the accutane already)100mg twice a day, Benzaclin in the morning, Differin at night, and washing with Benziq morning and night. This regimen, which I'm starting today, is almost a complete formula for BP/Retinoid redness...awesome. Whatever, hopefully it works or else I'm demanding accutane next derm visit. Minocycline was covered by insurance so next to no cost to me by the way. |

| Pros: | Worked quickly and cleared up problem area on chin. Noticed little/no side effects once used to it. |
| Cons: | After one year I began to get constant whiteheads, blackheads and red spots on ONLY my nose. This is an area where I never had a problem before. But if I go off minocycline I break out in other areas. |
| Bottom Line: | Now I have to try other meds to clear up nose. I'm 30 and I am tired of this!!! |

| Pros: | it is a pill it doesnt take long to consume while using a topical medication (lotion or cream) takes longer |
| Cons: | i havnt seen any changes on my face back or chest |
| Bottom Line: | ive been using minocyclin 100 mg once a day for a week now and i see no change wat so ever, it actually looks a little worse. Also my pimples leave marks on my skin like ther brown and red (discoloration) and how do i get rid of it i hate it. |

| Pros: | my skin cleared a bit! |
| Cons: | i felt tired, very light headed, got a weird looking itchy round rash on my left hand, i bruise easily, and im starting to have black spots on my tongue!!!!! |
| Bottom Line: | i've had more cons than pros. I wanted to stop this drug but im afraid that i might have a relapse. i have read a lot about people having bad breakouts when they stopped taking this antibiotic. i should've never started taking it. |
