Does anyone know if you can still drink alcohol while being on Minocycline. I JUST started taking it (15 mins ago) and i am also wondering how long it will take to clear my skin.

I was using menocycline for about 3 weeks it cleared my skin up real well. I didnt have any major side effects,i did have some problems tanning my skin was too sensitive and burned instead of tanning. I am not taking it now due to sensitivity to light. I do know it works but every medication will work different for everyone.I am now using a mild face wash once a day and it has been working wonders. I work in a dermatologist office and i have learned quite a bit about acne.If you are applying medication to the face ontop of takeing the pills i would reccommend to stop one or the other unless your doctor told you otherwise because too much can be harmful to your skin.
good luck to you all in finding the right medication.
OH and by the way you can all try using Cetaphil face wash it is non irritating fragrance free if you wish and it is also dermatologist recommended.

My dermatologist recommended I take Minocycline at night and apply Tazorac onto my face before I go to sleep. She also said to take it until it runs out and wait until my next visit. Since then I've ran out of the Minocycline and I have seen NO MAJOR IMPROVEMENTS! I hope she has some good advice for me when I return to her office because this stuff is not clearing my face.

I have been on minocycline for 5 years. I'm not really sure why, since I never had a real problem with acne in the first place. Anyway, I don't believe this works very well for people with minor acne problems and it caused my legs to have bruise like spots and severe headaches. I just wish I had known that minocycline was the reason for those problems all these years!

ive tried everything in the book. from topical creams, pills, and even the dreaded accutane. while accutane did work wonders, it messed me up severely in the head. my grades dropped to failing marks, i was depressed, had no interest in doing things i once enjoyed, had no self esteem, yet thought everything was fine. i didnt notice myself become this way until friends and family would mention it, and teachers would call home asking if everything was allright with me. needless to say, it wasnt. i was a wreck. my parents forced me to go off accutane (god bless them for that) and i went to see a dermatologist. i begged and pleaded for more accutane because i thought nothing else would work the same, but thankfully he wouldnt allow it. he put me on minocycline and i have been on it for over a year. its FABULOUS. i hated my skin before, but now i dont even think twice about it. however, i stopped taking it for 15 days and my skin broke out :( still on minocycline, i couldnt be happier. i would DEFINITELY recommend this drug to anyone with skin issues, it works like no other, and i experienced no side effects. TRY IT!

I take minocycline 50mg twice a day. I have moderate to severe acne and i've been prescribed this medicine about 4 years ago. Back then, I took it for 40 days and my skin cleared up real nice; and the effect lasted for about 2 years. Now I'm on minocycline again and the results are obvious. My skin cleared up nicely. This is not a drug to take in the summer season; no or very little exposure to sun is required during the treatment. In case of sun exposure your skin turns red quickly and you may develop rashes.

Our daughter started using minocycline when she was 14 and used it for two years for acne on her back and face. The drug did show some positive results relating to acne serverity. When was first prescribed, the doctor warned us about some possible connection between minocycline and Non-Hodkins Lymphoma (NHL), or cancer. Our daughter was diagnosed with NHL in her senior year of high school. She continues to recover from very serious complications from NHL.
I would say DO NOT use of this drug!

Hi, i have been taking minocycline for about three years now and I have noticed blueish spots on my legs that look like bruises. I play sports so I thought that they were just bruises but they have not gone away for months. Are they a side effect of minocycline which I take two times a day? Should I stop taking it?
