| Pros | Dangerous drug....stick to topicals |
|---|---|
| Cons | Hives, drug induced lupus, hepatitis, read all warnings carefully if you are considering using this drug. It is widely prescribed but not enough people are informed of the risks. |
| Bottom line | I would not take this drug nor recommend it to anyone. 20 and 22 year old males took it for 2+ weeks and ended up in the ER with severe hives, breathing issues, swollen and red joints, etc. Still dealing with the side effects and possible drug induced lupus reaction. Beware! They were prescribed 100 mg. two times a day. |

| Pros | Clears up very fast, worked in a week |
|---|---|
| Cons | Dizziness for 2 weeks, comes back when you stop taking it, immunity |
| Bottom line | I began taking this because topical creams lost effect and acne started getting worse. Recommend it if your acne is moderately severe with 1 or 2 cysts and topicals dont work. I took it for 1.5months. My acne cleared quite well in about 2 weeks with some pimples left. It lost effect some effect after a month as cyst started to form again. I decided to stop taking it after my prescription and acne comes back slowly. However not as bad before because i started applying a topical(erthomycine) and also biozinc supplements which has worked well for 3 weeks now. Of ocurse my skin wasnt as great as it was when i was on minocycline but its better than it was before i took the minocycline. Take this drug but after your acne has cleared DEFINITELY apply a topical because acne will come back. Its a fact. |

|---|---|
| Cons | head ache. terrible anxiety worst iv felt my whole freakin life!!!! |
| Bottom line | so im only 15 and have had bad acne for about 4 years iv tried all the creams lotions you name it! so i decided to go to the doctor he put me on Minocycline 75m/g twice a day! and let me tell you it messed me up hardcore! iv never felt worst i have very bad anxiety i get nervous radomly and very deppressed. some nights i couldnt fall asleep because i would cry for litterly NO REASON! feels like i just lost the lust for life.. i hear the side effects are worst on females and i am fairly small so that might be why. but anyway i would NOOOT reccoment this! i have stopped taking it a few days ago (iv taken it for 2-3 weeks already) and im starting to feel a little better but im hoping it complety goes away because idk how i could live any longer like this.. it seriously is terrible! if you wanna take this go over ever little detail with you doctor. and also once u stop taking it. the ance comes back. :( thanks for reading i hope i helped someone that either experience the same or is planning on trying this, |

| Pros | Cleared most of my acne |
|---|---|
| Cons | If you take on an empty stomach it causes headaches and nausea |
| Bottom line | this medication was prescribed to me in march. It works okay but i wouldn't say its a "cure" for acne. I was told to take it on an empty stomach for best results but i experienced to many side effects doing that so my doctor said to take it after i had eaten something. If you have moderate acne i would recommend this to tone it down a little use with a daily face cleanser and it should work. |

| Pros | Haven't experienced any side effects Doesn't matter how near to food you take it. Cleared me up. |
|---|---|
| Cons | It didn't work on its own - needed Duac alongside it for it to be strong enough. Its effects have just seemed to wear off, I guess. |
| Bottom line | I was first prescribed minocyline around 18 months ago. It took a while (couple of months) to get working, but it did clear me up. I stupidly thought it would be OK to come off it, and thus experienced a very nasty breakout. I went back on it and was clear for another 3-4 months. Now, it just doesn't seem to be working. After this round I may give it up. I use it in conjuction with Duac, but I don't know anymore - I'm worried I'm resistant to it. Plus I've been taking it a while, I want to give my body a rest. |

| Pros | Mildly cleared up my acne |
|---|---|
| Cons | Still have bad breakouts every few weeks |
| Bottom line | I take 200mg a day and I still break out pretty bad a few times a month. I'm looking to try a new medication. I'm going to try birth control because I think my breakouts might be hormonal... |

| Pros | Has cleared up red, angry skin. Can take with food. Blackheads have improved. |
|---|---|
| Cons | Had some headaches the first week, but adjusted afterwards. |
| Bottom line | Definitely recommend. I've noticed some people said they were on 200mg per day and felt ill - always contact your doc - My daughter has been on 2 x 50mg a day and although she had some headaches the first week, she's fine now. The improvement in her acne is amazing - it's been three weeks and it's settled down so well. Previously used Doxycycline for 3 months and did not have as good a result. We are using this in conjunction with Epiduo gel every night (Adapalene/BP combo). |
