| Pros | Cleared my skin completely |
|---|---|
| Cons | After 6 months my acne came back times 10. Its not the typical acne with red and inflamed but skin colored bumps (comodone acne) I have never had this type of acne before. Now I am trying to find a way to cure it |
| Bottom line | I was never told about the side effects of Minocycline. I have developed a greenish bluish bruise like on my leg. This med is extremely serious and should not be taken for a long period of time. I blame the Minocycline for my bumps that I have all over my face!! |

| Pros | had terrible acne, nothing was working so far, it cleared it up in no time! only the occasional zit when i got super stressed. and yes, you can eat after taking it. |
|---|---|
| Cons | had to take it twice a day, it stopped working after 2 years, but then again, most antibiotics or any acne treatment loses its effectiveness after awhile. |
| Bottom line | i liked it. i had to switch meds, but that was after 2 years, and i'll probably have to switch again in another few years, its to be expected. |

| Pros | did not see any improvement |
|---|---|
| Cons | no improvement to my daughter's skin, caused her severe stomach pain |
| Bottom line | This did not help my daughter at all. I was not thrilled about her taking this since antibiotics are not good to take long term! After 6 months of use,we stopped due to no improvement and stomach pain. There are too many antibiotic resistant illnesses in population due to overuse of antibiotics. |

| Pros | inexpensive. Worked at first... |
|---|---|
| Cons | Now I'm in my second month of taking the mino daily and I'm breaking out much worse than before! I am wondering if this is a one time last breakout or if this is not the drug for me. |
| Bottom line | I need to go back to my dermatologist. |

| Pros | Cleared up my acne really fast! |
|---|---|
| Cons | -Cant eat after i take it :( no more night time food -Slight nausea, no biggie |
| Bottom line | Ive been on minocycline for a week now and the results are crazy! My entire chin has cleared up so much and now i just have red marks. A few little zits here and there, but nothing unmanageable, not like the deep lumps before. I am also using differin 0.1 gel (night) aswell as a 5% benzyl peroxide wash in conjunction with the antibiotic... Also important to refuel your biotic cultures, so drink a Bio-K or asidophilus every other day |

| Pros | Stops more severe acne, and helps with acne that is "deep" under the skin |
|---|---|
| Cons | Does not clear you up completely |
| Bottom line | I took minocycline for the 6 months that my doctor prescribed it to me and i hated it. I thought it did absolutely nothing. I recently went back on it because my parents said I really should and that it had helped before. This time i made sure I took notice and after only a week my face is a whole lot better. This stuff does not clear up the moderate acne that the regimen is designed to combat, but by combining them I am having great successes. After a week my face is 50% better, and I really don't expect the minocycline to do anything more than it has already done, but I do expect it to keep working to combat the tougher acne that the regimen just cant handle. Really I would suggest this as an option to people who's acne is just a little bit too severe for the regimen, so that it can handle what the regimen can't and then by combining them you should get clear. |

| Pros | Works for the first few weeks No side effects at all (except for the acne!) |
|---|---|
| Cons | Stops working You can not stay on this forever - it is not healthy at all to take antibiotics for prolonged periods |
| Bottom line | It definitely worked to begin with but I think my skin became resistant. It was very strange - it certainly helped to prevent large, cystic pimples form forming, any that did form were small and disappeared very quickly. However, about 6 weeks in I started having very persistant breakouts in places that I never usually breakout. Ever. There was literally nothing I could do get rid of these breakouts. As soon as I stopped taking it my skin cleared up very quickly. A month or so on and it is starting to break out again in the same places it did with minocylcin. I blame the minocyclin for this. I am breaking out on my forehead and have not done so for about 15 years. Still very glad to be off it! Will look elsewhere for remedies. I say give it a shot as it seems to work for some people but for me it was definitely not a miracle cure and I'd say my skin eventually became much worse on it. |

| Pros | My son is 17 and has been on Minocycline since April. His acne has cleared up and I'm happy about it. He will forget to take it from time to time and I can tell because he will have one or two break outs. |
|---|---|
| Cons | So far, I have not seen anything negative from him taking Minocycline. It does say do not take it within one hour of having dairy products or being in the sun for a long time, my son does both and I did not notice any side effects. |
| Bottom line | Minocycline works for my son. I just don't know how long he will have to stay on the medication. I have had 2 refills already, but I will not get anymore unless I take him to the doctor. |
