| Pros: | I've used it for years, and it has mostly kept me cyst-free--I get one or two a year now. |
| Cons: | Can feel like I have heartburn if I don't drink enough water or lie down too soon after taking it. I've started getting the blue spots on my shins that can happen after long use, and it's getting less effective; I now have a cyst that won't go away. |
| Bottom Line: | It's been the best antibiotic I've used--and having had acne for 25 years, I've tried lots. I also use Retin A and benzaclin. |

| Pros: | Clears up acne in 1-3 months.
Cheap with insurance. |
| Cons: | Body will become resistant to it.
Acne will come back. |
| Bottom Line: | I used this product from September 07 to May 08. The drug cleared my acne near the end of october. I still did get a few pimples, but not very many. I would say out of every two weeks, I would get one small whitehead.
The bad news is that your body will become accustomed to the medicine, and it will wear off. It wore off for me in May and I noticed 4 red pimples on my forehead. Now I have started to break out with white heads and in between my eyebrows and neck. Now I'm on doxy and if that doesn't work I will ask about accutane. |

| Pros: | Taking 100 mg a day seems to be working since day one been about to weeks. |
| Cons: | acne not completely cleared up, still get breakouts but helps alot.

| Bottom Line: | doc prescribed this with benzyol peroxide 5% and it seems to be working well.
I hardly get new pimples now and my old ones are going away, I just hope it stays that way after I run out.
Drink plenty of water or you'll get a headache and i would also recommend eating yogurt to keep the good bacteria in your stomach healthy to avoid appetite problems |

| Pros: | The acne on my back has improved SIGNIFICANTLY...my face has gotten better, just a few scars. |
| Cons: | Yeast infection. It's painful. But monistat combo pack makes that clear within 24 hours. |

| Pros: | Cleared up acne within one week |
| Cons: | Major, Major side effects...fever, muscle and joint aches, headaches, neck pain, dizzy, lightheadedness, and a rash. I was homebound for 7 days...on the couch, felt as it I had a horrible flu virus!!! |
| Bottom Line: | worked great, but not worth the side effects...stopped taking it after 7 days, it then took 7 days to feel better...started taking it again, took one 100mg dose and began having side effects just as bad as taking it the first time for seven days...didn't know the first reaction was from the minocycline, I thought I had a virus the doc said...doctors say it wasn't the med, but it had to have been...felt fine before taking it. |

| Pros: | When I was taking Minocin I had clear skin,like before I had acne. my skin wasnt overly dry. This was a miracle working product! |
| Cons: | If I didnt drink enough water I would have a horrible head ache. that is a very small price to pay. Just drink plenty of water. I can control whether I had a side effect or not. |
| Bottom Line: | I wish I had insurance because i would still be taking it. Because of this med my acne has toned down. I hardly get cystic pimples and nodules. but i really wish i had this med, it was the only thing i everfound that actually worked. |

| Pros: | I was very pleased with the results. My face looks great almost all of the time. |
| Cons: | Back started breaking out and was told to increase to 2 a day. Made me sick. I am going down to one a day. |
| Bottom Line: | I have felt bad for sometime now. Never made the connection until I was told to increase to two a day. Not sure I want to continue this treatment, tired of feeling sick. I hate looking like a freak though. Mind you, I am 37 years old and did not have acne as a teen. |

| Pros: | I don't feel nausious, (I drank a lot of water with it) and no headaches. I've only been on it for a day, so I'll see what happens. My skin isn't drying out. |

| Pros: | It generally cleared up my facial acne. |
| Cons: | My crouchal region and penis developed a painfull rash which has caused it to scar quite severly. It is quite embarrasing and it has made me very affraid to talk to women. |
| Bottom Line: | Although it helped with my acne, the hyperpigmentation and scaring on my penis is a long term side affect, and it has not cleared up after more than a year, which has me quite worried. |
