I have been on minocycline for about 6 months and i am happy with the results as the breakouts are gone and my skin is so much better, i also use differin at night. I take 100mg once a day but the derm wants to reduce the dosage to 50mg and then wean me off it completely which terrifies me as i dont want to deal with acne again. I get dizzy if i take it on an empty stomach and thats about it. I have had acne for over 10 yrs and this is the only product that has worked for me (i havent tried accutane though).

It worked for me it cleared all of my red marks. It took a little while, around a few months for it to clear it all. Dont expect this to clear your skin instantly it takes a while. To me it seems more like a long term kinda thing you gotta stick to it. But it did clear up my skin, just kinda takes a while for it work

Minocycline was the first antibiotic my dermatologist prescribed me. I have mild acne, nothing horrible. Enough to need something done though. This stuff did nothing for me. Used it for over a month and got nothing but dizziness. Everyones body's chemical composition is different, it may work for you, it may not. It certainly didn't for me. Dizziness was the only ill-side effects I experienced. Good luck to the rest of you!

on it for a month now, no improvement, but the side effects that I hear about are virtually non-existant. insurance makes it affordable.

This medication did not work very well for me. You're not supposed to take it any time close to having milk. Maybe that was part of my problem.

I started using minocycline about three weeks ago. I asked my doctor what pill i could take as i have mild acne on my shoulders and a few pimples on my face. He recommended minocycline 100mg. I compete as an amateur bodybuilder and am required to tan about three times a week. I did notice that my skin tends to dry out a little more than usual but nothing major. Ill have to monitor it. I take a lot of dietary supplements also which cause me to break out at times. This pill seems to work great along with proactiv. As ive said ive only been using it for three weeks so ill have to wait and see.

I am taking this drug, and i feel my skin has become thinner, its also becoming greyish in colour in some areas.....the acne subsided a little and then when i was about to get my periods i got a number of small pimples all over my chin....

i was told my acne is due to hormonal imbalance.....so may be should also try the birth control pill

well i think i will take nothing more to damage my body.....

i recently starting doing yoga and it seems to be helping..... i cant deal with the side effects of these drugs....

what i have learned my my traumatic experience is that everyone's bodys is so different .... but acne is temporary and if u can surround yourself with postive ppl who came make u forget about it for a month or two...i will start dissappearing.... what i am trying to say is that the more u stress on acne it keeps becomes persistent....if u can find a way to relax yourself..... somehow it does slow down.....(does it make sense??)

well, before i started taking minocycline, i took doxycycline for about a year. I used it in combination with Duac cream and my skin was nearly flawless...for about the first 3 or 4 months. Then it just kind of just stopped working. My acne returned to how it was but i continued to take doxy for a long time. Recently, my derm switched me to 100 mg of minocycline once a day. All i can say is that it didnt change anything. The bottom line is that when you first start taking these pills they will work great for some cases of acne, but your body WILL build up an immunity to them and then they're useless. You'll read this and want to think that you're the exception but this is just how it is. Kind of sad really, as now i'm having to consider acutane as a last resort. One positive thing i would like to note about minocycline is that i never feel sick off of it like i did when i took doxycycline.

It took a month or so after taking minocycline for it to work and it did clear up my skin. But the doctor said you should not take this long term as it is not good for your digestive system. stick to the herbal stuff ay.
