It worked great for the first three months or so, then I stopped (like an idiot) and had the worst acne of my life. I tried starting it up again for four months but it did nothing. I think the trick is to follow the instructions religously, however confident u feel about your skin. The side effects were intermittent but bad. I suffered from muscle weakness and fatigue, and as a rugby player it affected my game badly and knackered me completely at school. Just read the label and the leaflet and understand exactly what you have to do, and what might happen as a result. N.B. For affordability i rated 5 because as a UK student i don't have to pay for prescriptions. I have no idea how much it would cost in the US or elsewhere, sorry.

I have been taking Minocycline once a day along with that topical gel Benzamyacin. I havn't been happy with the Minocycline. It hasn't done much in terms of clearing up my acne and it has horrible side effects. I would especially warn women that you can get TERRIBLE yeast infections from this stuff. Anyhoo...I woulldn't necessarily recommend this unless you have major acne problems...otherwise, the harmful effects just aren't worth it.

I went on minocylcline at 16. I had the worst acne that I've ever witnessed anywhere. I never had it until I hit 16. I had calloused acne all over my face. It was bad. I went on minocycline and tazorac and I cleared completely up with no side effects with the exception of dryness and redness which you can control with the right lotion. I joined the military and went off it for two years. It seems to be coming back so I went out today and got doctors orders to go back on that with Benamycin topical gel. I only hope it works as well as it did in the past. Oh, and I'm 21 now.

I have been on this for about three years now. Have had no side affects though my acne did take a while to clear up to a point where I was happy. I think my doctor is planning on reducing my dose soon from one a day to one every other day. Hopefully my skin will stay at this level. Note: I do have to get blood tests done every three month in case of liver damage etc. I still get very mild breakouts about once a month.

I've been using this for about 4 months, and using tazorac for about 5 months. I've had pretty dramatic results. Mostly after I started the minocycline. As is the case with so many acne medications, it has to be used daily and you've got to be patient. I haven't missed a day of the minocyclkine and its working like a charm. the only side effect i experienced only lasted the first week or so and it was slight dizziness, that my dr. cautioned me on.

Been on it for about a year - never had acne before then 2 months before my wedding at age 28 i had a serious break-out. Went on minocin/minocycline to clear up my acne -- while it didn't clear up in time for the wedding (takes 4-8 weeks to kick in) it has kept me clear for over a year now.
Every time i go off it the acne kicks back in after a month.
Worried about long term affects though!!

I first tried this when I was about 12 or 13 and it didn't do a thing for my skin. I tried it again before I started Accutane for the first time when I was 16. Surprise Surprise it did not work...So After my second time using Accutane my doctor prescribed it to me which was about 3 months ago and OH MY GOSH GUESS WHAT? It did not work one bit. I mean if you have mild acne I am sure it will work, but for people with moderate to sever I highly doubt it will work wonders! It is just really frustrating to have your dermatologist give it to you 3 times...I mean it didn't work when I was 13...it didn't work when I was 16 so why would it work when I am 18?
