IMMEDIATLY STOP TAKING THIS MEDICINE IF YOU BEGIN TO EXPERIENCE HEADACHES!!!!!!I was on Minocycline for about 3 weeks when i started having these horrible headaches that would last for the most part of the day. About 4 weeks after using this medication I took myself off of it because i started to get double vision along with these horrible headaches. Shortly after i went to the doctor and got MRI's acnd CAT scan to see where the headaches were coming from. Come to find out This medication gave me a suedo-tumor where my brain acted as if i had a tumor because my spinal fluid was backing up in my brain, also causing me to have a enlarged optic nerve which caused me to have the double vision. I would immediately stop taking this medication if you Experience Headaches!!!!!!

hi there,
I'm 18 and from Yorkshire in England
well i've always suffered with acne but it's always been mild/moderate. 3months ago i broke out and it was classed as severe there's been no change, i've tried tetracycline and this didn't even touch it, they also put me on a contraceptive pill called dianette which is also supposed to help by reducing the amount of acne causing hormone released by my body. This doesn't seem to have made any difference either. I went to my GP today and he presecribed me Minocycline and i'm just praying that this drug works for me, i'm supposed to be seeing my boyfriend for the first time since my spots broke out like this in two weeks time and i'm terrified of how he's going to react he's so attractive and has perfact skin, so here's to hoping this drug works before then.
Just if part of my skin was to clear up this would raise my confidence, my face, back and chest are literally so covered by spots you couldn't get a pin prick between them, so for all those of you out there you feel depressed and even distraught about your acne i totally understand. It's really not easy and i know this might sound vein but i've always been physically attractive and now i just look like a freak! people stare at me, i went to the doctors today and in the waiting room most people stared at my face especially the kids, by the time i got into his office i just burst into tears! how humilating, but i'm telling you all this because i just want you all to know you're not alone whatever country you live in however old you are you're not alone.
GOODLUCK too all of you in this battle against acne!

I tried Monocycline three years ago. Withing two weeks, I was crippled by severe joint pain. Every joint hurt, even my toes! I asked my doctor if the pain could be caused by the meds. He insisted it was unrelated. After a few months, I took myself off the meds. The worst of the pain subsided rather quickly. However, I have suffered varying degrees of joint pain ever since. I don't know if Minocycline caused the problem, or exacerbated a condition that may have already present, but I have no doubt that the pain and the medicine are linked. I do not recommend Minocycline. Why risk your health, and suffer needless pain when there are alternatives available.

I've been on Mino for four weeks now, along with Benzaclin. It's definitely helped, though not as dramatic as doxycycline once worked for me. However, I know I have to give it at least six weeks before I determine its full effectiveness. Many of you should remember that. Mino is not an overnight drug. At 25, I have tried almost everything, and this helps for now, though I know it won't be permanent. Though for right now I am satisified. I still have lots of bumps and small zits, but they're healing faster and I even look decent under fluorescent lights, thank God, because my workplace is full of 'em. Good luck.

well i have been on minocycline for about 11 but this month have rarely taken it to wien myself off but becuase of stress and trying to get off, im going back on, my face is a wreck and my forehead hurts so much. im thankful that the first perscription med i was put on was a success and im sad about having to go back on because i hate that my body depends on it, i just hope i only have to stay on for one more year. But i really like the med because it works for me and im not in as much pain when im on it, and less cysts and scars.

I WAS ON MINOCYCLNE FOR RABOUT 3 WEEKS. I SAW NO CHANGE WHICH WAS EXPECTED FOR ONLY THREE WEEKS OF TAKING THE PILL. I STOPED TAKING THE PILL BECAUSE I FELT ALL OF MY JOINTS TIGHTEN UP. I FIRST THOUGHT I WAS CHARLIE HORSE AND CONTNUED TAKING THE MEDS. THE PAIN GOT WORSE WHICH WASNT TYPICAL OF CHARLIE HORSE SO I HAD A HUNCH AND CHECKED UP THE MEDICATION ON THE INTERNET. THERE IT STATED TIGHT JOINTS ( A FORM OF LUPUS) AS A RARE SIDE EFFECT. I WASNT TOLD OF THIS BEFORE I TOOK THE PILLS AND HAD I KNOWN THIS I WOULD HAVE THOUGHT TWICE. NOW I AM IN UNBEARABLE PAIN AND HAVE DIFFICULTY MOVING ALL OF MY LIMBS. MONDANE TASKS LIKE GOING DOWN THE STEPS AND GETTING DRESSED HAS BECOME A PAINFUL ORDEAL. NEEDLESS TO SAY I STOPED TAKING MINOCYCLNE HOWEVER I WAS TOLD THAT IT WILL TAKE A WHILE FOR THE PILL TO GET OUT OF MY SYSTEM- POSSIBLY MONTHS. JUST THINKING ABOUT IT IS OVERWHELMING.

I started taking Minocycline after using Tetracycline, and I also have been using Adapaline cream and Azelex for about a year now, which have seemed to make equal difference. However, Minocycline seems to clear up 80-90% of my acne in combination with the topical treatments that I use. I also noted that moderate sun exposure helps acne, as well as going to the pool. I wash my face in the morning, after exercize, at 3pm, and at night, so usually, 3-4x a day. My skin is fairly clear as of this moment due to all these factors- no more cysts, no more huge nasty red ones! Also, do not take this drug with milk or excessive amounts of food because this interferes with the absorption of the medication.

Just noticed that the term "working wonders" is a cliche here :D
I've taken Tetracycline in the past and now I'm taking Minocycline. So far nothing yet, but I just got started. Anyone know the differences between tetra and mino?

I've been taking Minocyclin for a week now and have been taking it 1x a day for the 1st week as presecribed. This is the 2nd week and I'm supposed to take it 2x a day. Well, no way! I have been experiencing lightheadedness, dizzyness, & just an overall yucky feeling since I started taking this. I've been reading the same paragraph at work for about 8 or 9 times now. I can't even concentrate.
I've had cystic acne for over 20 years and am now in my late 30's. I've also taken just about everything there is that is "supposed" to treat acne, including accutane. I called my derm, and she hasn't still hasn't responded. guess, I won't be taking this stuff anymore. What else is there? I can't take it anymore!
